Congressman’s Widow To Charlie Crist: Don’t Come To The Funeral
The wife of recently-deceased Florida Congressman Bill Young sent a letter to former Governor Charlie Crist telling him he is not welcome at Thursday’s funeral.
According to the paper, Young’s widow wrote in the message: “This e-mail is to officially advise you that your presence at my husband’s memorial services will be unacceptable. I have watched over the years, as Bill had, your transparent attempts to manipulate the political arena. I don’t want my husband’s memorial service to be another opportunity for that and I will not tolerate anyone turning this into a platform for political gain. Please honor my family’s request.”
…According to the paper, Beverly Young sent similar emails to Democrats Jessica Ehrlich, an attorney, and Pinellas County Commissioner Charlie Justice, both of whom ran against her husband.
Beverly Young is known for being outspoken: In 2006, Capitol Police ejected her from the House chamber for wearing a T-shirt to George W. Bush’s State of the Union speech reading, “Support our Troops: Defend our Freedom.”
