Georgia Man Runs Into Burning House To Save His–Beer
As the late, great Jack Paar used to say, “I kid you not.” And people do have their priorities.
“I went back into the house like a dummy,” Walter Serpit told ABC-13 in Columbus. “The door shut on me because of this back draft. It was about to kill me.”
The fire began when Serpit was watching television with five other adults and two children. When the flames broke out, he grabbed his cane and fled with the rest of the occupants. But something compelled him to return to the inferno.
“I told them to get the kids out and everything, and me myself, being an alcoholic, I was trying to get my beer out,” he told reporters. “You feel me?”
And that, ladies and gentleman, is the most honest man in America.
