People for the American Way’s RightWingWatch does a great job every day, cataloging some of the more extreme  examples of right-wing commentary, and presents far-right extremists in their own words. This was too much to bear for Gordon “Dr. Chaps” Klingenschmitt who claimed copyright infringement because of the few short clips of him that appeared on the site.

Is Klingenschmitt afraid of free speech? Too thin-skinned to allow others to criticize him? Afraid of seeing his own words come back at him? Of course, one can understand why it might be painful to watch statements about how “the militant gays essentially demand ‘let us have sex in your house, or we will kick you out of your house.’” Or about how gays are recruited via marketing.

Let’s hope YouTube stops buckling to those who whine about fair use of their public statements. If you’re playing in the public arena, you can’t bar those who come in the gate.
