Man Who Killed Parents’ Pet: ‘I Like To Hurt Dogs’
Jeremy Espiritu of Las Vegas, 22, was arrested after killing Serenity, the family dog.
“I like to hurt dogs,” he told the officer, according to a police report obtained by the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
The report said that Espiritu’s stepfather, who works at night and was taking a nap Thursday afternoon, was woken up by what sounded like “a child or dog screaming as if they were in pain.”…
When asked if the dog had done something to him, Espiritu reportedly responded, “No. I just wanted to stab the dog so I sat on the floor and cut its neck.”
Espiritu’s stepfather told police that the 22-year-old “was basically homeless” but would sometimes go to the house before disappearing again. He also said Espiritu abused drugs and likely had an undiagnosed mental illness.
