UPDATE: ‘Original’ George Zimmerman Painting On eBay Appears Lifted From Getty Images, DU
UPDATE: Ruh-roh! I wonder if George Zimmerman is familiar with U.S. copyright law. Earl G at Democratic Underground has made an interesting discovery:
Over a decade ago we purchased this image from PhotoDisc (now Getty Images) for about $20…
And used it on the T-shirts we gave to DU donors…
But if you zoom in a bit…
And give it a little photoshop magic…
Apparently it’s now worth around $100,000!
Well, well! I wonder if anyone has alerted eBay that Zimmy is peddling a great big copyright-infringing bogus “original” work of art?
Stay tuned… this could get really interesting really fast.
17 Dec 2013, 03:00amEST: The painting by Trayvon Martin’s cold-blooded assassin shooter George Zimmerman is an exercise in post-Warholian patriotic kitsch:
George Zimmerman is taking eBay by storm while armed with only a paintbrush.
Bidding wars over an original painting crafted by the former neighborhood cop is raising tens of thousands of dollars in just its first few hours listed for sale.
The signed painting of a blue American flag was listed Monday with a starting bid of $50 before skyrocketing to more than $99,000 while under the username ‘theRealGeorgeZ.’
Zimmerman’s brother, Robert Zimmerman Jr., confirmed the artwork’s authenticity to MyNews13.
“Everyone has been asking what I have been doing with myself. I found a creative, way to express myself, my emotions and the symbols that represent my experiences,” Zimmerman allegedly wrote with the item’s listing.
Well, golly, isn’t that special! Though we bet he would’ve nabbed twice the haul if he’d instead used the words “STAND YOUR GROUND“.
