Performing in Toronto this week, Billy Joel didn’t make it all the way through “We Didn’t Start the Fire” easily. When he forgot a verse, he stopped to explain it was one of the worst melodies he ever wrote.

“Wait a minute,” Joel said, catching his error. “That ain’t right. All you gotta do it f-k up one word in that song and it’s a train wreck.”

“It’s the same thing verse after verse,” Joel continued, lambasting the song. “Just the words change. It’s one of the worst melodies I ever wrote.”

Joel then finished up the song without further incident.
