Pavlov’s Dogs – Part Two
Remember when the rabid right-wingers were foaming at the mouth over the “Obama Phone?” President Obama, they said, was giving free phones to welfare recipients to gain their votes. In reality, President Obama had nothing to do with it. The program was started in 1984 during the presidency of Ronald Reagan. The “Lifeline” program offered landline discounts to qualified telephone subscribers. The “Lifeline Link-Up” plan provided discounts on the initial installation fee for landline telephone service. The program was expanded during the Clinton administration. Wireless service was added during the administration of George W. Bush.
Now the Rabid Right is at it again. Michelle Obama, during a trip to China, showed her appreciation as a group of girls did a streamer dance in her honor. Pretty nice, right? To normal people, yes. To right-wingers, no. They had their usual Pavlovian response and started foaming at the mouth.
Never ones to let the truth get in the way, the right-wing knuckle-draggers got rid of the dancing girls, declared the red streamers to be Communist flags and told their legions of clueless followers that Mrs Obama was celebrating communism.
And there you have it. The latest example of misanthropic misinformation from your friends on the far-right. Their mothers must be so proud.
