George Bush opened the prison without permission of congress but Obama can’t close it? the facts are, 1. Gitmo is a Military detention facility ,(prisoner of war camp)Obama is commander in chief of the military and can run it as he sees fit with ZERO oversight from congress that includes closing it. 2. Prisoners at Gitmo are military prisoners they are not justice dept. prisoners, and can released by the president any time he chooses. Any prisoners actually awaiting trial or under indictment can be moved. 3.Gitmo is located on a military base in a foreign country expressly for the reason of NOT having to comply with US laws.
