Texas Republican Platform Endorses Gay Conversion Therapy
The Republican Party of Texas replaced the wording, “homosexuality tears at the fabric of society and contributes to the breakdown of the family.” The new language endorses ex-gay therapy for “patients who are seeking escape from the homosexual lifestyle.”
Homosexuality must not be presented as an acceptable alternative lifestyle, in public policy, nor should family be redefined to include homosexual couples. We believe there should be no granting of special legal entitlements or creation of special status for homosexual behavior, regardless of state of origin.
Additionally, we oppose any criminal or civil penalties against those who oppose homosexuality out of faith, conviction, or belief in traditional values. We recognize the legitimacy and value of counseling which offers reparative therapy and treatment to patients who are seeking escape from the homosexual lifestyle. No laws or executive orders shall be imposed to limit or restrict access to this type of therapy.

Today’s GOP – Ever so slowly turning Texas blue.
Judgeforyourself37 June 5th, 2014 at 2:30 pm
Oh, I hope that the RWNJs in TX will keep sounding more and more ridiculous each day so that, sooner rather than later, the intelligent Texans will prevail and turn that state blue.
Alan June 5th, 2014 at 3:17 pm
Let’s hope
dbtexas12 June 5th, 2014 at 4:11 pm
Actually, we’re hoping this accelerates the process.

Come now all you Texans who think that being LBGT is disease wake up! Our LBGT sisters and brothers are normal, not diseased. It took a while, but in 1976, both psychiatrists and psychologists removed being LBGT off the DSM . That is the Diagnostic Statistical Manual of psychiatric illnesses. People are born the way they are, gay, straight, lesbian, bisexual or transgender. Wake up Texans, get with the 20th century even if you can’t quite make it into the 21st.

Normal like Down’s syndrome is normal because it occurs in nature.
Chinese Democracy June 6th, 2014 at 1:34 am
no its more like.. I was born gay ..you chose to be a bigot
see? easy
Justin Volke V June 6th, 2014 at 10:41 pm
It appears that bigotry is a two way street. Forcing a baker to violate his religious beliefs to provide a wedding cake for gay couples is a form of slavery forcing him to do something against his will.
If you don’t like this bakers personal views why would a gay couple give a “bigot” as you call him, their business?
Chinese Democracy June 6th, 2014 at 11:30 pm
No one is forcing a baker to do anything. If they dont want to treat everyone equally. They can close shop
Elliot J. Stamler June 5th, 2014 at 3:06 pm
Is there a reparative therapy for ultra-conservative Republicans or is it an incurable disease? And now I’ll add something to make Alan Colmes all antsy: if the portion of the ultra-conservative Republicans who are running around openly armed to the teeth like Navy Seals and muttering about armed revolution (i.e. treason and sedition) ever take any of their threatened action to destroy this democratic republic, they will get the reparative theory that will cure them of their ultra-conservative Tea Party Republicanitis: a bullet between the eyes from the national guard, the army or the police.

Wow. Name calling? That’s what counts as intelligent debate from the left? Did you learn that on the playground in grade school when the others called you a sissy?
Chinese Democracy June 6th, 2014 at 11:44 am
sissy? Wow name calling? Hypocritical much pal?
Justin Volke V June 6th, 2014 at 11:00 pm
Now you can’t recognize irony? So you were called a sissy? How did it make you feel? Did you like being called a sissy knowing you weren’t ? Calling someone who doesn’t accept homosexuality as normal a bigot or a homophobe is the same thing.
Personally I don’t consider myself homophobic. I don’t have any fear of gay people. I prefer to think of myself as a heterophile.
Chinese Democracy June 6th, 2014 at 11:26 pm
I prefer to think of you as an uninformed bigot
but I AM a sissy so it doesnt bother me at all… something wrong with sissys pal?
mcalleyboy June 5th, 2014 at 9:32 pm
Way silly, watched a special on TV about ambiguous genitals, some are born with both others never develop correctly, there’s not much difference between the bottom area’s before they transform into a gender and what’s with the men having breasts, we need more programs like this to shed light because gender is not so clear and not worth worrying about, leave them alone, be blessed you have your junk in the trunk and it’s in order.
Bob Waas June 6th, 2014 at 12:55 am
It says, ‘ex-gay therapy for patients who are seeking to escape from the homosexual lifestyle.’ It sounds voluntary, so why the fuss?
arc99 June 6th, 2014 at 1:31 am
Why the fuss?
Here let me clarify by applying the same standard of ignorance to an activity you approve of
“”Although legal, the ownership of firearms must not be presented as an acceptable lifestyle”
Now, do you understand the “fuss”?
Bob Waas June 6th, 2014 at 10:31 am
A huge stretch and no relevance at all.
How about lustful desire to have sex with woman who are not your wife and acting on it…adultery.
arc99 June 6th, 2014 at 10:48 am
your personal religious belief equates lying and breaking a vow to a committed relationship between two consensual same-sex partners. now that is a stretch.
Bob Waas June 6th, 2014 at 3:23 pm
Are you suffering from heterophobia? My religious beliefs aside, how about natural law?
“Sexual promiscuity is one of the most striking, distinguishing features of gay life in America” (p. 45). A much-cited study by Bell and Weinberg (1978), published by the Kinsey Institute, and often called the most ambitious study of homosexuality ever attempted, gathered its data before the AIDS crisis had begun. This study showed that 28 percent of homosexual males had had sexual encounters with one thousand or more partners. Furthermore, 79 percent said more than half of their sex partners were strangers. Only 1 percent of the sexually active men had had fewer than five lifetime partners.”
Bob Waas June 6th, 2014 at 10:37 am
The hypocrisy of this comparison you are using is the left is trying to wean gun owners of their guns and you all cheer, then when someone tries to lead someone away from their homosexual lifestyle, there is a fuss.
arc99 June 6th, 2014 at 10:42 am
it never fails. whenever even a hypothetical scenario is presented where right wingers are treated the way they want to treat other people, you say it is not relevant or not the same thing.
even you guys recognize that your own ideas are repugnant and pretending there is no equivalence is a way to avoid that ugly reality.
oh and knock off the “cheering” bullsh*t. I own two firearms.
Bob Waas June 6th, 2014 at 10:50 am
Your hypothetical scenario made no sense. There is no comparison for the two issues.
1. Homosexuality is a lustful desire.
2. Gun ownership is a conscious choice.
arc99 June 6th, 2014 at 10:51 am
your point is clear.
how dare anyone treat right wingers the way they have no problem treating other people.
got it the first time. thanks.
Chinese Democracy June 6th, 2014 at 1:31 am
why the fuss? Because ex gay therapy is a sham never worked and is actually harmful .
Why do you believe that gays should try to change? Whats wrong with being gay? You gonna cite some Bible passage as an excuse for your bigotry?
Go ahead but nobody follows Leviticus. Sodom and Gomorrah’s got nothing to do with gay relationships, it’s actually about gang rape of angels.. Google it. And in the New Testament Jesus refuses to be as bigoted as so many of his unauthorized fan clubs aka fundies
Justin Volke V June 6th, 2014 at 9:21 am
I don’t believe gays should be forced to change. But it is unfair to force society to deny their acknowledgement of human reproduction facts to accommodate disordered physical attraction and reward them for their lack of fecundity.
It has nothing to do with bibles or religion. Of the 7 1/2 billion people on this planet and the hundred billion or so that came before us, since Lucy took her first steps on the plains of sub-Saharan Ethiopia, every single human being on this planet had a mother any father biologically , not a single one to date as ever had two mothers or two fathers biologically why can’t you accept that?
Bob Waas June 6th, 2014 at 10:32 am
“The problem with using genetics as an excuse to justify behavior is that whatever tendency we might be born with must be considered normal. This includes lying, pedophilia, homosexuality, and rape. But, such a logical inference will not be acceptable to the pro-homosexual community because selective statistics and discriminatory reasoning are offered to justify their behavior.”
From CARN
Chinese Democracy June 6th, 2014 at 1:39 pm
the problem with using genetics to justify anything is that its true regardless if you believe it or not
Chinese Democracy June 6th, 2014 at 11:43 am
I believe gays should have the same rights and privileges as any other group. And that bigots like you are becoming less and less relevent
Justin Volke V June 6th, 2014 at 10:54 pm
Any other group? Or only some? Can a sheik claim 17 deductions for himself and sixteen wives?
Chinese Democracy June 6th, 2014 at 11:25 pm
When it becomes legal in the U.S for anyone to have 16 wives then yes Im sure it will be figured out
But since its not and no one seems to be asking for it to be legal
Whats your point?
fahvel June 6th, 2014 at 4:10 am
the fuss begins with the person asking the foolish question.
Bob Waas June 6th, 2014 at 10:23 am
What foolish question?
Justin Volke V June 6th, 2014 at 12:56 am
It must be possible. Lots of straight men get married have children then discover that they have changed and become gay. Why can’t the reverse happen?
Chinese Democracy June 6th, 2014 at 1:26 am
that never happens.. what you are describing is gay men getting married to women in order to hide their sexual orientation because ignorant podunk bigots make them feel like they have to hide or have done something wrong.
btw. when did you CHOOSE to be str8? Did you wake up one morning and decide that you where sexually attracted to women?
Justin Volke V June 6th, 2014 at 9:15 am
So why would a gay man be so willong to have sex and get married in the first place?
States don’t discriminate in marriage on the basis of sexual orientation. Any man gay or straight can marry and woman gay or straight. The only requirement is that they have complimentary sexual organs. It matters not if they are functioning or not. Gays choose not to marry preferring others of the same sex. The law doesn’t discriminate.
At least the gay married guy made some children naturally the way a billion years of DARWINIAN EVOLUTION has designed it to work. He is a lot braver and has more of my respect ( until he gets a divorce which punished his children. ) than homosexuals who refuse to conquer that fear.
Chinese Democracy June 6th, 2014 at 1:19 pm
Oh I get your theory.. Marriage is for procreation only and if a woman is unable to bear children she should not be allowed to get married.
Justin Volke V June 6th, 2014 at 10:52 pm
No. Marriage is not only for procreation. Any man and woman can do that. It is like saying a drivers license is not about driving a car as plenty of people without drivers licenses can drive a car. It is about responsible procreation which contributes to the general welfare far more than it costs in terms of the legal and tax benefits it garners. Gay couples have zero chance of procreation let alone responsible procreation and so should not be eligible for those benefits any more than Chandler and Joey sharing an apartment on the sitcom Friends deserved the benefits of marriage.
Chinese Democracy June 6th, 2014 at 11:23 pm
so marriage isnt about procreation… and your entire post is about procreation.
You are funny
fahvel June 6th, 2014 at 4:09 am

I’m glad I live in NJ. It’s not too often that I make such a statement. But Gov Christie was strong in his opposition to gay conversion therapy, and signed a bill outlawing it for minors. He’s not all that conservative, which is fine by me. [Oh, and Bridgegate? A big yawn. I think Christie had no involvement.]
Justin Volke V June 6th, 2014 at 10:45 pm
If gays are born gay then it must be genetic and cannot be reversed in therapy.
If it is genetic then there must be a gay gene or genes.
If we can identify the genes we can design a test to identify gay fetuses.
Women can then abort gay fetuses as is their right and we can eliminate gayness in a generation.
If you don’t want that to happen be careful that you don’t give us reason to want to.
