Texas Teen Fatally Shot In The Head When Bullet Flies Into His Bedroom

A 16-year-old Houston, Texas boy was shot and killed when a stray bullet ripped into his family’s apartment.  Yac was home, seemingly safe in his bedroom when one bullet changed everything, according to KHOU. 

Alfredo Yac, the boy’s cousin, said, “It’s a big loss because he was only 16. He was only 16. He was a kid. (He was) a child to me.”

During the night, Yac was upstairs in his bedroom with all of his lights turned off with the exception of one in his closet. He was laying out clothes for the next day.

A nearby neighbor, Stephanie Daniels said, “I just heard two gunshots.”

Detectives cannot explain why someone opened fire outside.

“We need everyone’s help,” Detective Jesus Sosa of the Houston Police Department said.

One shot killed David after a bullet struck him hit in the head.

In Spanish, pastor Alfredo Joy said he is sad. Joy’s church was like family to Yac, his mom, sisters and brother.

They moved in to the Happy Village apartments on Ranchester near Bellaire Boulevard less than three months ago. Now, all loved ones have are memories.

“(David) was a good kid,” Alfredo Yac said. “I don’t have anything else really to say because right now, we’re too hurt.”

Neighbors worry too.

“It’s just very, very scary,” Daniels said. “It’s so close to home.”

With no surveillance video, suspect description or someone in custody, those neighbors fear more random gunfire.

They hope someone offers detectives tips to ease the pain around the Happy Village Apartments.

David was described as a happy kid.
