Mother Abandons Baby On New York Subway Platform
A 20-year-old mother was arrested for abandoning her baby on a New York City subway platform.
The mother, whose name was not immediately released, was seen on 71st Street and Broadway about midnight by a passer-by who recognized her from security footage and told a nearby police officer, an NYPD spokesman said.
The mom had pushed her daughter’s stroller from an uptown 1 train 12 hours earlier, leaving the approximately 7-month-old alone as she rode away, police said.
She told investigators later that she was overwhelmed by the amount of care the child required, sources said.

Good grief. I would have taken that baby happily. Leave it at a church, or a hospital, not the friggin’ subway.

Just another late term abortion, what’s the big deal? You don’t honestly think it’s ok to impose your morals on this woman, do you? BTW, I like how the only objection to abandonment is the location. It’s ok to abandon the kid, just so long as it’s at an approved location.

If you read THE REST OF THE STORY about this, instead of just the little bit that’s published here, you might find out a little more. This young woman most likely suffers from depression and PTSD, having grown up in poverty in a dysfunctional family and witnessed her boyfriend/fiancé murdered in front of her. People who are mentally ill do not think clearly. At least she left her baby where it could be found and didn’t kill it or throw it in a dumpster.
