Authorities are trying to determine whether to try a young  Florida teen as an adult as he faces a second-degree murder charge in connection to the gruesome killing of a homeless man. According to the arrest report,  the teen may have left written messages and drawings in blood on a white Halloween or hockey-type face mask at the crime scene.

According to evidence, the 51-year-old victim was attacked while sitting in a recliner while inside his man-made structure and then fell forward and was laying partially inside and outside the structure’s doorway. After finding Thomas Bergstrom’s body, his friend called the authorities.

The 13-year-old was arrested at his home Sunday. Law enforcement officials found the body of the victim at a homeless camp Saturday, KCTV reports.

According to the Naples Daily News, similar writings were found in Yoel Munoz’s bedroom in his Cape Coral home, where authorities say the teenager got back into his home by climbing through a side window and subsequently left blood smears on the walls and nearby bed.

“During the investigation, it was determined the victim had been stabbed numerous times and died as a result of the injuries sustained,” Sgt. Dana Coston with the Cape Coral Police Department said.

Police say Munoz was uncooperative and gave different accounts of how he acquired a stab wound to his right thigh, according to his arrest reports.

Photographs which were taken of Munoz at the hospital emergency room showed a distinctive blood pattern on his face which matched that of the mask discovered at the murder scene, according to the report.

Detectives said they determined the teen to be a suspect based on evidence at the scene.

The teen was also charged with burglary for allegedly trespassing on the private property. According to Samantha Syoen, spokeswoman for the State Attorney’s office, Munoz was transferred to a juvenile center where he is being held for 21 days.

I often find myself quoting Hannibal Lecter, and if you’ve seen me post this previously, I apologize. But, it couldn’t be more apropos than in this case. I firmly believe that this child’s upbringing and past will reveal trauma and violence on a horrific scale. Like Dr. Lecter said,” Our boy Billy wasn’t BORN a monster….but, someone MADE him one.”

The fact that he committed this crime all by himself with little or no provocation would indicate the boy’s a sociopath. And very, very scary.

obviously something horribly wrong with this kid. I don’t know if he can be fixed, but he needs to be put far away from the rest of us, while the medical professionals try.
