53-year-old Glenn Patrick Lampien has been charged with involuntary manslaughter after accidentally shooting a stranger dead.

According to police, officers were dispatched to a shots fired call in a home in the city of Helen on Saturday.

When police arrived, they found Lampien sitting on a bench with a small caliber handgun and a gunshot wound to the hand.

After further investigation officers determined that Lampien had accidentally fired the gun, shooting himself in the hand, according to WSBTV.

The bullet then made its way across the street, striking a woman in the side, which killed her.

The woman’s identity has not been released, but police said she is a Texas resident.

Proves guns are dangerous in the wrong hands. Good catch Colmes. This is the one incident that will surely turn the entire liberal case against guns on its head.

      How so?

It shows that people ought to own guns only if they are properly trained to use them, and use them in a safe and responsible manner. The Right to Bear Arms isn’t an absolute right. Guns should be registered, owners should be licensed. That’s what the Constitution means by “well-regulated”. This would prevent every brainless idiot from fooling around with lethal weapons they don’t know how to use properly.

there are cases where people actually have the training you speak of including officers, that have killed someone accidentally.

        • jasperjava August 18th, 2014 at 3:26 am

…or purposefully, as we have seen lately.

Still, all things being considered, when dealing with lethal weapons, training is better than no training. Training makes accidental shootings LESS likely, but will no eliminate them altogether.

right. but, it appears that stupidity will remain supreme.

And trained drivers have accidents that kill people too, but no one is suggesting that the use of cars be further restricted. The fact that trained users still have mishaps doesn’t mean it’s pointless to train anyone. Right now there is no attempt I know of to ensure that gun owners have even basic safety training.

None what so ever. The N.R.A., G.O.A., Madison Society and a few others have seen to that.

i get your point, but i’m more afraid of an idiot with a gun than an idiot in a car. often times you have a chance to get out of the way of a large moving object than one that can travel quicker than a cat can lick his ass. bullet. something you can’t see.

jasperjava – “And trained drivers have accidents that kill people too, but no one is suggesting that the use of cars be further restricted”

I have never seen a person wearing a vehicle on their hip with the ability to go into a bank and ask the teller for cash. I have never seen a person shoot a vehicle through a sniper’s rifle and kill an enemy from a mile away. etc.. Are you suggesting that if we run out of weapons over seas we should use vehicle to propel ? The entire idea/notion that one can relate a vehicle with a deadly weapon that can be concealed and cause multiple deaths within seconds is somehow similar to a vehicle? There are morons on the road that should not be driving.. But at least – they have to take a training course for so many hours before they get a permit to even drive with a licensed adult.. and then they must study a booklet in another class and go for their license by taking another test.. and if they pass they get a license.. and one must go every so many years to Renew their license.. and this person in order to drive must be Insured.. and if they hurt someone or damage property they could lose their privilege to drive..and court cases .. fines.. Are you still saying that being able to get a gun one must follow the same procedures as one driving a vehicle?

Remember, to the NRA, accidental shootings by “a good guy with a gun” — all too often resulting in tragic deaths of innocent bystanders — are regarded as ‘collateral damage’ in their war against common sense gun regulations.

its not the first and it won’t be the last. and why was this fool outside handling his gun anyway?

    • John_St_John August 18th, 2014 at 6:39 am

“why was this fool outside handling his gun anyway?” That was a rhetorical question right? Why else would a fool be playing with his junk in public? He wants to call attention to the fact that he has an itty bitty little tool.

      • whatthe46 August 18th, 2014 at 4:06 pm

well, i didn’t want to say it. lol.

Ammosexuals have to fondle their guns every 20 minutes, or they get the sads.

“Good guy with a gun”, shoots and kills woman. No such thing as an ‘accident’ when it comes to the handling of a weapon. Negligence or it was deliberate.. ruling out deliberate because the moron shot his hand, and was improperly using the gun .. he was negligent in the handling of a weapon, thus he should not of been allowed to have one.. however, in some states all one has to do is buy a box of Cracker Jacks and walk out with a weapon. Training and background checks.. (lol) ..sorry had to laugh.. What’s that? I hope the family sues the bejeezes out of him and he loses everything..spends the rest of his days bent over in a 45 degree angle while his bunk mates show how they can drive the message home to him about the use of a weapon.
