“Trained observer.” These two words have been the basis for more lies, more false convictions, more accusations and more justifications for brutality than any other two in history, perhaps apart from “God’s will.” Legally speaking, a person with “trained observer” status like a cop might as well be a 3-D IMAX recording events in full 1080p;…

I am sick to my stomach right now. The police are NOT judge, jury and executioner, but they think they are. If all y’all white people, and I’m one – think this can’t happen to you – think again. The thuggish, violent behavior of police all over this country is OUT OF CONTROL.
neworleans878 August 26th, 2014 at 7:03 pm
That’s the problem. Unless you’ve been hassled (or worse) by a cop for no reason, or know someone who has been, one tends to side with the authorities.
As my wife did 20 years ago until she saw it happen to me.

And me..
MIAtheistGal August 26th, 2014 at 5:26 pm
Get cameras on these officers now! All of them, all across the country. That’s the only way we solve this problem and I bet it’s cheaper than lawsuits in the long run.

In addition, demand the de-militarization of our police forces and return to community policing. Force your local authorities to accept strong citizen review boards, hire more women and require extensive social training for all recruits and veterans.

The cop who beat him should be fired with now extenuating pay, as should be standard procedure for any cop who abuses his station in any fashion.
I can’t stand cops who are terrorists and there are way too many who fall into that category.
We need a one strike rule in cases like this… cops should be held to a higher standard, morally and legally, than any civilian.
It’s their job to uphold the law and defend the public, not to break both.

I sure wish somebody would make it so that the edge of the story wasn’t cut-off when republishing from AATTP. So irritating.

So it wasn’t just me.

You can toggle it. I have no idea why it happens, but it does. It’s unfortunate.
mea_mark August 26th, 2014 at 6:00 pm
If I move it to the right I can see what’s on the left, move it to the left can’t see what’s on the right. Put it in the middle and lose a little off both sides, very frustrating. I have no desire to move it back fourth as I read down through the article line by line.
At least put a link to the original article in the title or something.
Anomaly 100 August 26th, 2014 at 6:48 pm
If I put it in the middle, I’m back to being cross eyed.

One alternative is copy and paste into a word document, then you can read it easily. Not a perfect solution, but better than scrolling back and forth.

Bad HTML! Bad HTML!

If the account is true, and this one has that definite ring of truth to it, the cop needs to be charged and prosecuted. The rule of law is only effective if it is enforced fairly. When the cops become criminals the whole system collapses. I can’t stand dirty cops.
whatthe46 August 26th, 2014 at 11:17 pm
“if” its recorded from beginning to end. audio and video. what part of “if” the account is true, that you could dispute?

castrated – crud like that should never be in a position to reproduce.
StraightGrandmother August 26th, 2014 at 6:41 pm
These cops are out of control.
They give the appearance of Roid Rage don’t they?
trees August 26th, 2014 at 6:41 pm
I like cameras, they record events. I like the idea of cameras recording cops, always have. Best way to keep someone honest is to keep an eye on them.
Mary Johanna August 26th, 2014 at 11:54 pm
As long as police officers are not held accountable they will continue their abuse of power.
