Dave Kopel, writing in an NRA magazine, attacks Shannon Watts, founder of Moms Demand Action for gun sense, in a way that gives misogyny a bad name. Kopel and the NRA are upset that Watts describes herself as a “stay at home mom” even though she has superb work credentials.  So, what do they do? They picture her surrounded by household items, like any good wife or homemaker should be.

Kopel takes issue with Watts’ description of the group as a “grassroots” effort since she is an experienced public relations professional with former New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg as a client. Moms Demand Action is now part of Bloomberg’s group of gun control organizations.

And Kopel is upset that Watts “purports to speak for all mothers” when she actually “speaks only for a relatively small group of highly gullible people, including some mothers.”

He points readers instead to gun rights activist Julie Globb, “captain of Team Smith & Wesson” and “mother of two.”[su_sky_ad]

The NRA, this country’s most effective terrorist organization is, once again, protecting us from sanity, home and public safety in order to let anyone, anywhere, anytime, shoot anything at anyone for any reason. Thanks, NRA, for all you do to murder children and the innocent tens of thousands of times every year!

  3. Mainah August 26th, 2014 at 1:42 pm

Ah, the old dehumanize and minimize ploy. How obviously droll of him.

  4. Eric Trommater August 26th, 2014 at 1:52 pm

Is there like 3 percent of the population that is still effected by these kinds of attacks?

  5. R.J. Carter August 26th, 2014 at 1:59 pm

Has she ever apologized to Dana Loesch for the false statements she made against her?

    • ChrisVosburg August 26th, 2014 at 5:45 pm

This about that shilling for Magpul deal?

      • R.J. Carter August 27th, 2014 at 9:13 am

Yes, the whole “paid employee” etc. etc.

        • ChrisVosburg August 27th, 2014 at 11:38 am

Then I’d point out that Shannon doesn’t owe so much as the correct time of day to Dana, let alone an apology.

Look, I get it: Dana’s product essentially is Dana, which we often refer to as attention-whoring, and her appearance at a rally in Colorado in support of Magpul’s recently outlawed big-ass gun magazines netted her at the least a swell ride in a helicopter with a big Magpul logo on it and a couple of mags, which she named “Piers” and “Morgan.” The fact that Magpul did not pay her a speaking fee is irrelevant.

Dana has a radio show and various blogs, where she is compensated by advertising paid for by, among other right wing causes, the gun industry, and makes no secret of the fact that she’s in it for the money, and those not willing to compensate her for product mention should look elsewhere.

And Kopel is upset that Watts “purports to speak for all mothers” when she actually “speaks only for a relatively small group of highly gullible people, including some mothers.”

And Kopel and the NRA purport to speak for all gun owners. They do speak for a relatively small group of highly gullible people, but not for the 90% of gun owners who choose not to belong to America’s number uno domestic terrorist organization.

  7. fahvel August 26th, 2014 at 2:44 pm

globb – need any more be said?

    • ChrisVosburg August 26th, 2014 at 5:14 pm

      Perhaps just “eww, oink.”

  8. Red Eye Robot August 26th, 2014 at 6:51 pm

“most effective terrorist organization” and ” America’s number uno domestic terrorist organization.” Ahhhhh the sweet smell of Cray Cray. Once again Leftists demonstrate why they have lost the battle on gun control. Complete and utter lack of credibility. Since Nanny Bloomberg’s $50 million campaign began, D.C.’s open carry ban has been overturned, The federal courts threw out most of California’s restrictive concealed carry law. Illinois concealed carry ban was struck down by the 7th circuit. Obama was whining he couldn’t get more stringent gun control passed. Bloomie has had zero effect because you people lack credibility. Shannon Watts, Who travels with Armed escorts, consistently draws crowds of Dozens of supporters. More and more the public sees the left as ghouls capitalizing on the deaths of children for political gain

The D.C. ban on open carry is back-on! The decision was stayed by the Judge giving officials time to Fix the Law: “Plaintiffs in the case, who include three D.C. residents who own guns, agreed to a 90-day stay so the rulemaking could occur. The stay will be in effect until Oct. 22.”-Far right Wash Times.

SCOTUS D.C. Heller , et al requires annual gun Registration, annual background checks with annual gun permit fees paid in advance-Perfect! “the D.C. Attorney General’s Office announced on Sunday that it would seek a stay. As reported by the Washington Post, D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Cathy Lanier has approved an order which allows District residents to carry a handgun IF AND ONLY IF the handgun has been properly registered with the District Police, pursuant to the District’s handgun registration ordinance.”-WaPo! http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/volokh-conspiracy/wp/2014/07/28/licensed-handgun-carry-now-legal-in-district-of-columbia-palmer-v-dc/

Meanwhile, the thugs in DC still have their firearms and only the law abiding citizen is disarmed.

        • Obewon August 26th, 2014 at 9:07 pm

Meanwhile SCOTUS Heller requires ‘Every D.C. Gun owner” to register any gun, to pass annual background checks, with annual gun permit fees paid in advance-Perfect!

The NRA legislates guns for felons, rearming murderers, DHS watchlist terrorists, and is against universal background checks favored by 91% of Americans and 87% of NRA households. -Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America was created to demand action from legislators, state and federal; companies; and educational institutions to establish common-sense gun reforms.

WHO WE ARE: Moms Demand Action was founded by stay-at-home mom Shannon Watts on December 15, 2012, in response to the devastating shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School. http://www.momsdemandaction.org/category/in-the-news/

NRA Federal Candidate Spending, 2014 Cycle Total: $510,812! And a measly $1.8 M on all lobbying bribes to NRA gun law turkeys on their way to their own slaughter! Crazy LaPierre’s NRA is very easy to outspend:) https://www.opensecrets.org/orgs/summary.php?id=D000000082

    • John Tarter August 26th, 2014 at 8:49 pm

And you libs who constantly support the killing of unborn humans – you should be ashamed of yourselves. EVERY ABORTION KILLS – EVERY GUN DOES NOT.

      • OldLefty August 26th, 2014 at 8:57 pm

And you cons who constantly insert yourselves into the most private decision of others about whom you know nothing.

Get back to use when you care as much about actual human beings as you do about potential human beings.

        Otherwise it’s just phony sanctimony.

      • Obewon August 26th, 2014 at 8:58 pm

John Tarter’s teeny tiny NRA is so easy to outspend he’s got Zip! 32,163 US gun deaths in 2011 plus 70,000 shot annually, are eclipsed by 4+ natural miscarriages preceding each of 7 billion live human births. Natural miscarriages killed 28 B OMFG! No wonder your own Pope calls you mentally Ill: ‘ideological Christians’ as a ‘serious illness’ within the Church-Pope Francis smites nutcases. http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2013/10/21/pope-francis-describes-ideological-christians-as-a-serious-illness-within-the-church/ “And when a Christian becomes a disciple of the ideology, he has lost the faith: he is no longer a disciple of Jesus, he is a disciple of this attitude of thought…”

That’s what I like about the classy guys of the NRA. If you disagree with them they will attack you, put your phone and address up online and encourage people to pay you a visit, and make sure they let everyone know who your children are and where they go to school. Because freedom? That’s how the pro-birth crowd operates too. And both groups relish going after women–who of course should sit down, shut up, and don’t get uppity–according to them. Because Jesus?

    • John Tarter August 26th, 2014 at 8:47 pm

And the pro gun control groups never attack gun owners?

      • M D Reese August 26th, 2014 at 8:56 pm

I don’t know about “never” but it’s pretty rare. Perhaps that should change.

I’m a mother of one who supports sensible gun control because I get physically ill every time I read about one of our kids getting his/her little hands on the gun of an irresponsible owner and killing him/herself or a playmate with it. Imho, only a socio/psychopath could witness this happening repeatedly and continue dismissing it. Anyone who thinks his/her 2nd Amendment right to own a gun is more important than our kids dying-by-gun needs an attitude adjustment. I don’t even know the kids who are dying-by-gun, but it doesn’t stop me from caring about them and their families’ loss. I own many guns and I have no objection to undergoing any kind of check, be it mental, physical, background, or other, since I have nothing to hide. I’ve never understood why some gun owners object to better background checks to purchase guns, if they’re law-abiding citizens with nothing to hide.
