Black Man Wrongly Detained By Police In Beverly Hills Tells Me His Story
Charles Belk, a Los Angeles entertainment entrepreneur, was stopped in Beverly Hills for “walking while black” because he’s a tall, bald black guy. A tall bald black guy was seen on a bank video (yet to be released), and so cops thought they had their man. They could have easily checked him out and determined his identity using the Google, but handcuffs were more convenient.

This would be a start. But someone had posted that the BH police never apologized. So, they don’t feel that they did anything wrong. Sounds like we need police reform. Need to go through all the cities and states and start replacing these cops with those who are willing to serve the public. Not an interest group.

On Tuesday, BHPD released a statement which said it “deeply regrets the inconvenience to Mr Belk” and acknowledged some “breakdowns” in the way the arrest was handled, and further promises internal investigation of the case.

He has a imagine, reputation, and business interest to protect. Bank robbery is a serious allegation. I would be fighting to maintain it. It would be interesting, to meet the person who, positively, identified him and the tape. I don’t think that it would surface. But I’m sure that they would try to find a way to ruin his imagine.
