Shelley Dufresne, of Montz above, left), a married English teacher working at Destrehan High School, and her 24-year-old colleague Rachel Respess were charged Wednesday with carnal knowledge of a juvenile stemming from the September 12 incident.
Kenner Police Chief Michael Glaser said Respess invited Shelley and the 16-year-old to her home…for a group tryst after the Destrehan-Helen Cox High School football game…
Detectives are now looking into rumors that the trio made a sex tape during their encounter.
Former students also told police that the trio have been involved in a sexual relationship for some time now.
After police learned of the allegations, they interviewed the student, who is now 17 years old, according to Nola.com.
The teen insisted that the sexual escapade was consensual. The age of consent in Louisiana is 17, and the victim was 16 at the time of the encounter with the teachers.[su_csky_ad]

I was just beaten by the nuns when I was in school. How times have changed!

Even as a kid, their male names always creeped me out!

Ours were all Mary something. Sister Mary Gilbert, Sister Mary Hugh. I didn’t get it either. And no one actually thought of them as nuns. There were men, women, and nuns.

They leave long lasting impressions! I couldn’t watch the “Blues Brothers” because the nun at the top of the stairs was way to creepy for me!

Can we talk about the fact that this was objectively rape? Why is there not so much as a single use of the word in this article? Why are you deliberately avoiding acknowledging this?
Carla Akins October 2nd, 2014 at 8:07 pm
I don’t know about intentional, but yes it’s rape.
tracey marie October 2nd, 2014 at 8:11 pm
It most certainly is rape. I agree, the word was never used but let the sexs be reversed and every other word would be rape

Every time I read about teachers having sex with their students, it turns my stomach. I taught high school for 33 years and never had any kind of sexual contact with my students. I always thought of them as kids, which they were. When I first began teaching, I was 21. Some of my male students asked me out, and I wasted no time shutting them down. Parents send their kids to school to learn and trust their teachers to act as parental surrogates. They don’t send them to school to be seduced by teachers.
I’m beginning to think that psychologists/psychiatrists should be working on some sort of test those who want to teach can take that might indicate whether they’d be inclined to engage in this type of sordid, unprofessional behavior. If the test shows that they could, they should never be hired to teach anything to any kid at any grade level.

I am starting my second year as a teacher. I have substituted in classes from kindergarten to high school. I would never look at a student as any thing other than a child that has been entrusted to me for care and guidance. I think people who do this type of abuse are control freaks who are looking for “man” (child) that they can fully control. I could seriously beat the tar out of anyone who hurts a child, it sickens me.
I also wish there were tests to sort out who should teach and who shouldn’t then expand that and figure out who should lead and who should sit in a jail cell, but I don’t know if we have the space to house 90% of our elected officials.

Considering how teachers are under appreciated and under paid considering their importance to the education of the next generation, it’s no surprising that a few sub standard ones slip in. Still, I don’t know how effective these two are/were but time will tell.
Suzanne McFly October 3rd, 2014 at 10:24 am
For a person to “slip in”, they are expected to make a lot of sacrifices. The amount of school needed to become a teacher should be a big enough deterrent to anyone who would want to hurt children. I can’t imagine a person taking anywhere from 4-6 years of intense classes just so they could be close to kids so they can victimize them. These types are from a different ilk, I don’t think any rational person can truly understand them.

I’m sure many a male teenager had the ‘hots’ for an attractive teacher in senior high. Any chance this is all in the mind of the student?

“Former students also told police that the trio have been involved in a sexual relationship for some time now.” they all can’t be delusional.

Hearsay? Gossip?

If it were two male teachers that participated in a 3 some with a 16 year old female student, the two would not have been treated as casually as Shelley and Rachel have been treated (bail probably would have been set into the millions and they would still be locked up in jail). Also, “news” about the relationship would have gotten to the cops sooner (as the article states former students knew about this sexual relationship…suggesting it has been going on for more than a year).
On a side note, that teenage boy is living the fantasies of all straight high school male student. I’m sure he is still getting hi-fives from his buddies, and his “social status” with his peers in school has probably elevated.
