90-Year-Old Arrested For Giving Food To The Homeless
Arnold Abbott was stopped from being a Good Samaritan by Ft. Lauderdale, FL authorities. He could get a $500 fine and 60 days in jail.

Abbott and the two church ministers with whom he was arrested stand accused of violating a new local ordnance that “effectively outlaws” the distribution of food to homeless people in public places, according to KHON. Abbott said police stopped him in the act on Sunday:
“One of police officers came over and said ‘Drop that plate right now,’ as if I was carrying a weapon,” Abbott said.
Also charged was a minister from Coral Springs and Sanctuary Church pastor, Wayne Black.
“We believe very strongly that Jesus taught us that we are to feed his sheep,” said Pastor Black.
For Lauderdale Mayor Jack Seiler, oblivious to the coming PR disaster, warned that the law would be enforced when it was passed last week.[su_csky_ad]

See, the GOP not only makes it harder to vote, they legislate making it harder not to starve to death.
Yep211 November 5th, 2014 at 11:05 pm
These were Democrats. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Seiler
Now if Democrats could only stop their war on women…

OMG! That was a democrat! The evil is rubbing off of Voldamort.
tracey marie November 4th, 2014 at 6:36 pm
actually that and 2 other dems are repubs…they switched for the election. These elections are nonpartisan, no primaries just voting
Candide Thirtythree November 4th, 2014 at 7:00 pm
seriously?
tracey marie November 4th, 2014 at 7:53 pm
Seriously…the positions are supposed to be non partisan but we all know what that means, nothing
Candide Thirtythree November 5th, 2014 at 1:03 am
That is scary and depressing. π

Yes, Mayor of Ft. Lauderdale, Jack Seiler, is a Democrat known for criminalizing feeding of the poor. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Seiler

βOne of police officers came over and said βDrop that plate right now,β as if I was carrying a weapon,β Abbott said….
What?..
There was no “get on the ground now and step away from the plate from it”?
Sounds like he got off easy in Florida…:)
StoneyCurtisll November 4th, 2014 at 6:27 pm
Looks like feeding to poor in Florida is OK…
As long as you dont do it in public…(WTF) is that all about?
Jake November 4th, 2014 at 6:34 pm
Amazing we don’t hear an outcry from so-called Christians about not being allowed to practice their religion – or is practicing their religion now only about guns, racism and killing doctors who provide legal medical services to women.
Yep211 November 5th, 2014 at 11:01 pm
You are obviously ignorant. You don’t even know 2 CHRISTIAN ministers were also arrested with him? Have you not heard of the outcry from Christians at this treatment along with every other harrassment Seiler, Obama, and other democrats are heaping on christians, like the Little Sisters of the Poor?
Jake November 6th, 2014 at 7:34 am
No.
craig7120 November 4th, 2014 at 8:12 pm
Yellowstone park has similar ordnances, you only encourage the hungry & homeless to become dependent on the entitlements.
Bravo xtians, well done
Florida passing those kind of ordnances should be ashamed of their atheistic secular state. Wait! What?
Izzy Izzringhauzzen November 4th, 2014 at 8:17 pm
An Irony moment! π
craig7120 November 4th, 2014 at 9:44 pm
The “bravo xtians” was sincere btw, directed at the individuals helping the least of their brothers.
Roctuna November 4th, 2014 at 8:43 pm
At least they didn’t tase him or shoot him. Those paper plates can be pretty dangerous.

I posted the following of FB.
The really sad thing is not the law, but the people who vote these kinds of
reprehensible individuals into positions of authority and power in the
first place. The real culprits in this (and similar kinds of stories) is
“we the people”. We are responsible for the state of our union.
As Pogo once said over 60 years ago, “We have met the enemy, and they are us.”
Hirightnow November 4th, 2014 at 9:20 pm
What will really be funny (If such a thing could be considered funny) is when the people who voted for these laws find themselves in need, which will happen if they vote for the Republicans who champion these laws.
“Love to help, pal, but…you know…the law and all…”
Cheryl Carroll November 4th, 2014 at 10:19 pm
It sounds more like the city is seeking to organize where the homeless are helped, as opposed to blocking that help. If the amount of assistance isn’t reduced, and the homeless can conveniently access the designated locations then what exactly is the problem?
Now, the officer’s over the top response is another story.
infectious_d November 5th, 2014 at 8:47 am
this is just a pseudo-legal version of euthanizing the cities homeless, and they wonder why no one respects thee police or laws in general, not sure how these laws got passed in the first place, it’s just as asinine as asset forefiture laws.
simply put, f*** those laws, f*** the people who thought of them, and f*** the ones who want to enforce them, and to police officers that believe in these laws: shoot yourselves in the head, you’ll be saving us a lot of time, bullets, and cash
Yep211 November 5th, 2014 at 10:56 pm
Great example of why the Nazi democrat government there needs to get out of our lives.
