A California man was sentenced Friday to 37 years to life in prison for raping two women he met on the dating sites ChristianMingle.com and Match.com, according to the Los Angeles Times.

[su_center_ad]Sean Banks,39, a computer technician and former Navy officer, showed no remorse for his crimes while in court.

GottaLaff from RadioOrNot reports, “Instead, the rapist said that he “was willing to drop his appeal if one of the victims would take a polygraph test.” Nice. How respectful. What a guy.”

Oh Lord, please protect me from your followers. Amen.

Gloria Allred, the noted Los Angeles attorney, attended the sentencing on behalf of the victim who met Banks through ChristianMingle.

Allred took issue with Banks’ offer about the polygraph test.

“In 39 years of practicing law,” Allred said, “I don’t think I have ever heard a statement more disrespectful to the victim and the jury’s verdict. It’s an ultimate insult of disrespect.”

Allred warned other women “to be aware of the risk of online dating.”

The 24-year-old victim said: “That night changed my life. Scary people are not just in movies. They are real.”

She explained in court that during their first date in October 2012, she invited Banks to her apartment to watch a movie. She said that he quickly began making physical advances.

“I didn’t believe that was happening and I said at the top of my lungs” for him to stop, she said.

She said later in court, “I pray for him every day. I pray that he changes.”

    …but….but, he’s a “Christian”!

    • RK Johnston November 9th, 2014 at 10:41 am

Nope…just another ravenous wolf in sheep’s clothing.
On second thought, strike that–wolves have better morals than this pile of Bandini-in-a-human-suit!

      …but….but, he’s a “Christian”!
      …but….but, he’s an “officer and a gentleman”!
      …but….but, he’s a “computer technician”!
I know he’s not the 1st 2, and I doubt he did it cause he belongs to the group of comp techs…
why can’t it be said he’s just a sicko, why drag in a group to hate as well?
Christianphobes crack me up at times…

      • tiredoftea November 10th, 2014 at 10:37 am

Gee, I don’t know…let me guess…Oh, yeah Christian Mingle, maybe?

        • Spirit of America November 10th, 2014 at 10:42 am

and match.com maybe? And let me guess, you believe everything on the internet and since he says he’s christian to get dates, he must be….

    Reminiscent of “Tail Hook”.

Too far in the past for most posters..

Allen, before you hang the Christians, you had better do some real homework, just because this creep said he was a Christian does not mean he is a genuine follower of Christ, I could say I was a Liberal Democrat, for what ever that may gain me, like free stuff from the Government, but still vote Republican, there is only one way to know if a professor of Jesus is really a Christian, in the life witness. Christian Mingle, may be a rouse to get Christians to participate, and that does not mean that everyone who mingles is Christian… but to people like you it is fuel for your rhetoric and inability to examine the truth, and still justify your brainless remarks…

    • edmeyer_able November 8th, 2014 at 6:30 pm

And you could just as readily say you’re a clueless idiot and make a much more believable case…./s

    • Anomaly 100 November 8th, 2014 at 7:06 pm

      “but to people like you…”

Alan didn’t write this post. Reading is hard.

        IKR

        • Anomaly 100 November 8th, 2014 at 7:09 pm

Also, I’m a Christian which makes his rant moot.

          • Tommy6860 November 8th, 2014 at 10:59 pm

And that pastor who prays for Obama’s death and suffering in hell, probably has a site called Christian Mangle.

      • pbob67 November 24th, 2014 at 3:06 pm

Yea … you should try it sometime…

    • Tommy6860 November 8th, 2014 at 11:01 pm

It seems reasoning is a problem for you, no worries. But, being a rapist and believing in Jesus/God are not mutually exclusive.

      • pbob67 November 24th, 2014 at 3:05 pm

you apparently do not know any real Christians do you? and have no understanding of what I said… figures…

    • Sy Colepath November 9th, 2014 at 5:59 am

The lesson I got from the article, is that Internet dating is not safe, even if the service is innocuously named ChristianMingle.

And yeah, the creep was assumably a Christian, in good standing, if they do any kind of screening on ChristianMingle.

If you know what the “truth” is, please share. I don’t mind reading Xtian whack.

      • pbob67 November 24th, 2014 at 3:02 pm

so you say… there is no verification on any online date site, and as far as known ChristianMingle is not a ministry of any Christian group… so there is really no way except for an assumption, made by some anti-“Xtian” whack…

    • rg9rts November 9th, 2014 at 7:23 am

      Idiot

      • pbob67 November 24th, 2014 at 2:57 pm

    • DaddyO_969 November 9th, 2014 at 1:47 pm

You’re right. A predator in whatever guise is still s predator.

      • pbob67 November 24th, 2014 at 2:56 pm

        amen…

    • tracey marie November 10th, 2014 at 3:13 am

stop being so defensive and offensive. He met and raped two women fromn a christian site, those are facts…your guilt is showing

      • Spirit of America November 10th, 2014 at 10:02 am

but he also was on match.com a secular site(meaning not targeted to a faith). My view is this has absolutely nothing to do w/a religion but more along the line of impersonation to carry out sick/destructive behavior.

        • tracey marie November 10th, 2014 at 2:22 pm

That is not the point, the point was the 2 women he raped were from the christian mingle site.

          • Spirit of America November 10th, 2014 at 5:09 pm

And that makes him christian how?

          • tracey marie November 10th, 2014 at 6:09 pm

again, that is not the point.

          • Spirit of America November 10th, 2014 at 6:20 pm

It is the point of the post I posted, under a post that it is the point as well… look at how many are saying the theme of “there goes another christian…”
            People are posting:
            .but….but, he’s a “Christian”! and such.

          • tracey marie November 10th, 2014 at 7:01 pm

So what, he registered there , he raped women from there so it is safe to assume he is a christian.

          • Spirit of America November 10th, 2014 at 7:18 pm

There you go, that is the point to my posts, it is in no way safe to assume that. What, you think someone who rapes won’t lie? And by his very action he can not be a christian, regardless of what he writes on a form.

Let me ask you this, have you ever seen on this forum a person ‘claim’ to be a liberal and then say things obviously not in line with liberal philosophy? This is the net, people lie all the time.

          • tracey marie November 10th, 2014 at 7:21 pm

and why not, because you are embarrassed? Every other article christians claim to be the majority of Americans untill one of your own behaves badly.

          • Spirit of America November 10th, 2014 at 7:58 pm

First, I never said I’m christian.
And I’ll re-iterate, if you know anything about christianity, it takes more to being one than merely saying you are(and other faiths as well btw). And rapists by their very action lose that ability to such claim.
There are ‘bad’ people in every group, every one of them… white/black/hispanic/irish/.italian, etc, men/women, left/right, boy scouts. A mature, thinking person doesn’t denigrate an entire group because of a few bad apples, or no group would exist.

And didn’t you once post that not all muslims are bad cause of a few bombers? Is that true ONLY for muslims?…..

          • tracey marie November 10th, 2014 at 8:01 pm

done, you are rabidly defending this christian and not condemning his behavior

          • Spirit of America November 10th, 2014 at 8:13 pm

            1. He’s not a christian(you want to hate so bad that group you have to make him into one?)

            2. I HAVE denounced him(called him a sicko and a bast@rd)

            3. I hang out w/people who take it for granted rape is wrong w/out even saying it. It is obvious. It is 3yo on up knowledge. Do you know people who think rape is ok? I don’t know a one.

          • tracey marie November 10th, 2014 at 7:27 pm

That has nothing to do with this guy and your obvious attempts to distance yourself. Not once have you condemned his behavior….only protest what he is religously

          • Spirit of America November 10th, 2014 at 7:53 pm

            Distance myself from what?

“That has nothing to do with this guy”
Yes it does, you’re saying cause he is a member of a ‘christian’ dating site he MUST be christian… that’s not true.

“Not once have you condemned his behavior.”
Not only was that a cheap shot, it was incorrect. I didn’t in this thread cause that is not the topic of it, but read below, I even call him a sicko….

      • pbob67 November 24th, 2014 at 2:55 pm

… and your stupidity shines more brightly … “ChristianMingle”, is not a private club, so why don’t we hear about all the other sex crimes from the other online date sites? because their name does not contain Christian… I think any sex crime should be dealt with swift and without all the fu-fa-ra, about the Christian thing being an issue, just because the title is used it causes people to point that phony boney finger of ah-haw at the Christian community instead of the atrocity vile thing that sex crimes are…

  4. KB723 November 8th, 2014 at 7:05 pm

    CHANGES???

Into What??? A Tomato??? Sad these things happen but really??? Do you really want someone unknown in your home??? It’s Bad enough having the government there without your permission….

  5. Budda November 8th, 2014 at 7:15 pm

She prays for him? How about kicking him in the nuts?

    • DaddyO_969 November 9th, 2014 at 1:46 pm

Maybe she’s praying for him…to get kicked in the nuts.

  6. Maxx44 November 8th, 2014 at 7:27 pm

Looks like “god’s match for you” didn’t work out too well for this guy’s victims.

  7. Dean Chiasson November 8th, 2014 at 7:32 pm

    But rape is so biblical!

    • neworleans878 November 8th, 2014 at 11:16 pm

      Zechariah 14:1-2

14 Behold, the day of the Lord cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee.

2 For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city.

The wrath of God isn’t pretty.

  8. rg9rts November 9th, 2014 at 7:22 am

Not a gift from god was he?

    • fancypants November 9th, 2014 at 4:16 pm

He doesn’t appear to be an officer and a gentleman either

  9. Domingo Soria November 9th, 2014 at 12:51 pm

At least, the sentence of 37 years seems appropriate, if not enough. Oh Lord, please unleash the fury of your wrath on this sorry excuse for a man, and let him become everybody’s bitch while in prison. Amen.

    • DaddyO_969 November 9th, 2014 at 1:44 pm

You don’t need god’s help for that. He will not be happy.

  10. valerie mcnulty November 9th, 2014 at 1:12 pm

I’m SO GLAD the women WEREN’T KILLED! 🙁 Also, I am SO SORRY this TRAGEDY HAPPENED to them, which WAS NOT deserved!!! 🙁

  11. Stephen Downie November 9th, 2014 at 1:32 pm

this guy is a slimy predator. That being said, I don’t think that asking your accuser to take a polygraph test is disrespectful. I think the accused deserves his defense. Then again, HE should ALSO take the test.

    • starskeptic November 9th, 2014 at 7:54 pm

AFTER being convicted? Yeah, it’s disrespectful as hell.

  12. DaddyO_969 November 9th, 2014 at 1:41 pm

Should she have invited a stranger from the internet to her house on the 1st date? No one, male or female should do that.

  13. Spirit of America November 10th, 2014 at 9:30 am

Couple of questions for the Poster:
    1. Why is this under the Political tag?
    2. Why the “Oh Lord, please protect me from your followers. Amen.” when a ‘follower’ who has the least incentive to pray for this bast@rd(who isn’t a follower) is actually praying for him; if she is an example of a follower, I say “thank you for your followers”…
