[su_right_ad]Incoming Republican House Majority Whip Steve Scalise told Roll Call in 1999 that, although David Duke wasn’t electable, he shared many of his conservative views. While other Republicans were distancing themselves from the former KKK leader, Sclalise seemed hesitant to put too much space between them.

“I honestly think his 15 minutes of fame have come and gone,” said state Rep. David Vitter (R), a wealthy Metairie attorney who holds Duke’s old seat in the state House and is “seriously considering” a Congressional bid. “When he’s competed in a field with real conservatives, real Republicans, Duke has not done well at all.”

Another potential candidate, state Rep. Steve Scalise (R), said he embraces many of the same “conservative” views as Duke, but is far more viable.

“The novelty of David Duke has worn off,” said Scalise. “The voters in this district are smart enough to realize that they need to get behind someone who not only believes in the issues they care about, but also can get elected. Duke has proven that he can’t get elected, and that’s the first and most important thing.”[su_csky_ad]

Actually Scalise thought he would get to use an actual whip in his new job and jumped at the chance.

I hope the DNC is taking a look at speakers to every militia and sovereign citizens group for the last six years or more. You’ll find dozens of state GOP pols now in national office have been saying some pretty insane sh*t to insane people for quite a while never expecting they’d never have to answer for it later.

right now they’re pulling the ‘intimidation’ game.

when it don’t work no more, they’ll pull the ‘what are you talking about game’

if they suckceed in regaining full control of the entire government like they did in 2000, it won’t matter as anything said about a republiKlan WHITE RACIST will border on treason, traitor, commienazi, (yawn) subversive anti ameriKan enemy of the state. Sort of like when some people wanted GW to actually show the American people the deadly WMDs that Saddam’s Iraq was holding up to our throats on the red colored days.

    Good ol’ Confederate family values!

how can we know, for sure, without reviewing the transcripts?

for all we know, they could have been talking about a program to allow ‘walking while black’ to be a minor class A felony instead of a crime that warrants immediate execution as soon as you have a shot?

that’s the problem with ‘secret’ speeches given to ‘secret’ hate groups that the United States Congress doesn’t want it’s members to be a part of – you have no way of knowing what’s being said (without the written transcripts).

How is this a surprise to anyone?

all President’s seem to hold an inner wisdom …

      except for the last one

but then again, when Cheney is the Vice, you’re not really required to hold any.

    Question?
What kind of steely nerves does one need to interview or otherwise seek out Vitters opinion without breaking into peals of uncontrolled laughter?

      NEWS ALERT FLASH!

      republican claims to ‘honestly think’.

  7. granpa.usthai December 30th, 2014 at 4:22 pm

oh to have a ‘liberal controlled media’ that would PRINT the transcripts at the 1 of many meetings mentioned. Hell, the US Government might even be able to employee The Reverend AL Sharpton to read them to the US Congress LIVE – on ‘liberal controlled national media’ television, or perhaps a ‘fair and balanced’ news media outlet would be willing to sponsor a programe for such a purpose?

that ought to give the malcontents in our nations LE agencies SOMETHING to cheer about?

The very fact that he volunteers that he has some of the same views as Duke disqualifies him from office for being a freakin’ moron.

ps…edited to add…this is all part of Obama’s continuing effort to distract from BENGHAZI!!!!

    • granpa.usthai December 30th, 2014 at 4:46 pm

it’s not so much ‘volunteering’ as it is the beginning of a limitless litany of ‘plausible’ excuses for not having to produce any transcripts of the speeches given to WHITE RACIST gatherings (pre-lynch discussions).

When you’re caught with a flaming torch in your hand standing beside a burning cross, some people would like to know –

      whad up boss?

  9. amongoose December 30th, 2014 at 11:12 pm

If all those who had questionable dealings with unsavory characters, racist groups, tax evasions, and ethical lapses had to resign we would need a whole lot of replacements in the house and senate on both sides of the aisle.

Come to think of it, that’s not a bad idea at all.

He will go on faux news the network of the tea party white nationalist movement, they will help him clean up his image, and the rest of the main stream media will go along with it,and never question the right wing about their playing to their racist base, Next they will say the name Al Shaprton three times in a row, scared their base of racist faux news viewers, the main stream media will go along with it and soon this will all be the fault of the president.
