Christian Pediatrician Won’t Treat Baby Girl Whose Parents Are Lesbians
Would Jesus have turned them away from getting their child medical care?
[su_center_ad]Krista and Jami Contreras were married in Vermont in 2012 and they welcomed Bay Windsor Contreras into the world two years later. Last September, the expectant mothers were referred to Dr. Vesna Roi at Eastlake Pediatrics in Roseville, Michigan, by the couple’s midwife.
When the baby was born, they went to see Roi, but instead, another doctor greeted them.
“The first thing Dr. Karam said was ‘I’ll be your doctor, I’ll be seeing you today because Dr. Roi decided this morning that she prayed on it and she won’t be able to care for Bay,” Jami said.
“Dr. Karam told us she didn’t even come to the office that morning because she didn’t want to see us.”
“It was embarrassing, it was humiliating and here we are, new parents trying to protect her,” Jami said. “And we know this happens in the world and we’re completely prepared for this to happen other places. But not at our six-day-old’s wellness appointment.”[su_csky_ad]

So if a racist doctor “prays on it”, he or she can refuse to treat a mixed-race child?
Civil rights lawsuit coming up next. Strip her licence to practice medicine.

i’m having an argument with someone over this right now. they don’t believe what this doctor did was wrong even though they believe that gays should not be discriminated against. what this doctor did was wrong. and she was a coward for not telling them how she felt personally. she didn’t show up for work on the day of the appt. rather she informed another doctor at the office to tell them she wouldn’t be their baby’s pedi. and why. if it was her religious right, then why be ashamed to confront the parents?

They are failing to see the self-contradiction.
They are against discrimination yet they approve of discrimination.
Put it to them like that.

Shouldn’t the doctor loose that medical license?
Larry Schmitt February 20th, 2015 at 12:41 pm
And this doctor will not lose any patients, may even gain some, because there are plenty of self-professed “Christians” out there who would flock to a doctor who shares their bigoted beliefs.

Deny medical treatment to infants — it’s the Christian thing to do.
