TLCWhat did TLC expect from its “stars” and didn’t they see any of this coming?

Yes, TLC, this is what happens when your TV lineup includes “My Big Fat Fabulous Life,” “The Little Couple,” “Sister Wives,” “My 600-Lb. Life,” “My Strange Addiction,” “Sex Sent Me to the ER,” “Abby & Brittany” (conjoined-at-the-head twins) and “My Five Wives.”

You even revived Kate Gosselin from “Jon & Kate Plus Eight” infamy for a “return” special.

You can repeat all you want, TLC, about how these shows are “empowering” and spotlight people who otherwise would fly below society’s radar. No one believes that. You exploited them.

Do me a favor, TLC. Please don’t say you never saw this coming.

You play with fire, you’re gonna get burned.

The only thing we could learn is how strong our gag reflex is.

And we now get our news from Comedy Central.

It’s and upside down kind of world.

    Dear TLC:

I have dubbed you “The Lobotomy Channel” the first time I saw the commercial for “Toddlers and Tiaras”. It’s really creepy when toddlers are made to look like made up dolls with creepy teeth. It just isn’t natural. I just can’t understand the money people spend on it either. They don’t have a pot to piss in, but spend thousands on fake hair, teeth, spray tans …. creepy. I actually watched a documentary on it. (Not your channel though, since you don’t do them anymore.) It seems disturbing.

Once upon a time, I use to love your channel. I learned things. I saw documentaries that made me think. Now, I couldn’t drink enough alcohol and survive in order to watch even one show on your channel.

You are so correct, why use freaks to push revenue, why not elevate the shows and resulting conversations. So much incest, lies, and phony xtianity.

      • Mainah May 24th, 2015 at 11:09 am

Even my kids were disturbed by how creepy the kids looked on that show. Why aren’t we doing more to protect these kids? If their parents want to make complete dinks out of themselves, so be it, but their kids have to live with this for the rest of their lives’ and I’m sure their kids.

If I were to be from someplace else and if I were to try to gauge the culture by the television shows …. eek.

TLC sure worked hard to garner the title of Freak Show Network, but from what I seen on the promos on cable, there are many contenders for the title. Bravo, WE, etc. all seem to be searching for the same viewing audience of voyeuristic nitwits…are there really that many out there, and if so, our country is indeed lost…
The plethora of shrieking, way-too-rich, plasticized and angry grown up mean girls, partnered with bubbas who love to wallow in the mud with their gunz, big tires, and critters is not just scripted and stupid, but unwatchable for anyone with an iota of brain matter and taste.

I shudder to remember what A&E used to be like and the same applies to Bravo. I’ve pretty much given up watching almost everything ’cause there’s nothing on. Remember that old Springsteen song..57 Channels Ain’t Nothin’ On?

      • rg9rts May 24th, 2015 at 1:08 pm

        History, Nat Geo..

        • allison1050 May 24th, 2015 at 1:28 pm

Discovery Channel and the list goes on.

          • Dwendt44 May 25th, 2015 at 4:18 pm

I get a military channel. Video from WW II, Desert Storm, Viet Nam etc.. Not a big military buff, but when there’s nothing better and it isn’t bed time yet…..

  4. rg9rts May 24th, 2015 at 1:08 pm

Does any of their programing relate to “The Learning Channel”?

  5. Budda May 24th, 2015 at 1:10 pm

    “Freak show”…so appropriate.

  6. labman57 May 24th, 2015 at 2:13 pm

Time for TLC to “take out the white trash”.

  7. Gindy51 May 24th, 2015 at 3:04 pm

These shows exist for one reason and one reason alone… to give the viewers someone beneath them to laugh at. The old adage about stepping on someone else to feel better about yourself is in full throttle with these channels and shows. Smug folk sit at home and watch the lower humans cavort and simper while being paid to be exploited… so it is and so it has been for a millennium.

    • KillAllTheRednecks . May 25th, 2015 at 9:19 am

Sadly no. They’re not there to be laughed at, but this is TLC’s sick way of promoting them as role models (look at how they keep promoting the Bigot Dynasty scammers). It’s disgusting how the Discovery Channel and TLC (which USED to stand for The LEARNING Channel) now deliberately work to make it’s viewers more stupid.

See what happens when baby mills engage in irresponsible breeding practices?

  9. oldfart May 24th, 2015 at 5:58 pm

It’s exactly why I don’t buy cable TV no more

  10. William May 24th, 2015 at 8:41 pm

    Seriously?

  11. CandideThirtythree May 24th, 2015 at 9:04 pm

I am so glad that I don’t watch TV!!! I have never seen any of these shows but somehow I end up finding out about them from the newspaper. I guess it is not safe to read the news any more either. Bletch!
