Dennis Hastert Pleads Not Guilty

Dennis Hastert appeared in court Tuesday and says he is not guilty as charged.
Hastert appeared in court today and pled not guilty to charges of bank fraud while making multiple large withdrawals, and lying to the feds about it.
Hastert was charged a few weeks ago, and according to The New York Times, this was Hastert’s first public appearance since being charged.
Hastert reportedly withdrew $1.7 million to pay off someone to conceal prior misconduct, and while it hasn’t been specified in the federal charges against him, there have been reports it was sexual in nature and occurred while Hastert was a high school gym teacher.
