The ‘Heritage’ Of The Confederate Flag Is HATE
The nauseating insult on top of the catastrophic injury wrought by the racist terror attack that killed nine black parishioners in Charleston has been the continued presence of the Confederate flag flying on South Carolina’s statehouse grounds. Even as they tearfully mourn the tragic victims of that mass shootings, South Carolina Republicans like Senator Lindsey Graham and Governor Nikki Haley have shown no sign of backing off of their support for the flag.
In case you missed it, Haley dismissed the issue just a few months ago because she’s Indian-American, and CEOs don’t seem to mind:
“What I can tell you is over the last three and a half years, I spent a lot of my days on the phones with CEOs and recruiting jobs to this state. I can honestly say I have not had one conversation with a single CEO about the Confederate flag.”
“… we really kind of fixed all that when you elected the first Indian-American female governor, when we appointed the first African-American U.S. senator, that sent a huge message.”

To Mr. Colmes, your remarks against the Confederate flag will not get you far. Liberals are so emphatic about “Freedom of Speech”. The Supreme Court has ruled that the anyone who displays the Confederate Flag has the right to based on Freedom of Speech. Personally, as an Independent, I don’t like the Confederate Flag either because it’s a reminder of a dark period of our Nation’s history. But I also have to be reminded it is symbols like the Confederate Flag that should be a reminder that we should never allow what happened 150 yrs ago to happen again. It is a part of our Nation’s history that some prefer to ignore, but it actually can make a better Nation if some people would be willing to put down their own hatred within their hearts and begin to have more love for our fellow Americans.

I do not believe in White Power as you think all white Americans do. I hate the Nazi flag because they murdered millions for their Arian Race. I am an American and a veteran who is proud of my country and I picked an avatar that has both symbols of the United States.

I keep telling Germans the same thing. They should fly that swastika with pride. I mean, it’s part of their nation’s history. News flash: we don’t need the Stars and Bars to remind us that we should never allow Southern governments full of racists, gun fanatics, and Christian white nationalists to gain power in this country again. Graham defends the modern display of the Confederate flag, stating that the flag “still works” because it’s “part of who he and his fellow Southerners are”.
Yeah, the flag “works fine” in the South and it’s part of “who you are” … for those residents who are white racists who yearn longingly for the days of yesteryear, before slavery was abolished.
The Confederate flag has as much socially-redeeming value as the Nazi swastika, and it is therefore fittingly symbolic of the values of those who still cherish it.
