Simon and Schuster is complying with requests from celebrities who want their names off materials promoting Bill Cosby’s biography. David Letterman and Jerry Seinfeld both asked to have their names removed.

Last year, Mark Whitaker wrote a biography of Cosby that was promoted with glowing words of praise from people like Jerry Seinfeld,David Letterman, and Billy Crystal. Seinfeld’s blurb reads, in part, “I know certain religions forbid idol worship. If anyone ever told me I had to stop idolizing Bill Cosby, I would say, ‘Sorry, but ‘’m out of this religion.’”

Well, a rep for both Seinfeld and Letterman told The Hollywood Reporter today, “We were unaware that those quotes were still in circulation, and are asking the publisher to refrain from their future use.”
