Why? As Anomaly points out, because it’s a day ending in “y”.

Police said a man armed with a gun and a hatchet opened fire Wednesday in a movie theater outside Nashville, Tennessee. The attacker was killed after exchanging fire with SWAT officers, police said.

Police responded to a report of shots being fired at the movie theater just before 2:00 p.m.

Metro police spokesman Don Aaron said the suspect entered the theater armed with a gun and a hatchet. The shooting began in the projection room during a showing of Mad Max: Fury Road, WSMV reports.

When the gunman encountered a South Precinct officer, he opened fire and the officer returned fire.

A Metro SWAT Team later engaged and killed the gunman.

“We believe the imminent threat has ended,” Aaron said.

One person may have sustained injuries by a hatchet, but that is still being investigated by the Nashville Fire Department.
