Bryce Williams accused Alison Parker of being racist for using phrases like “swinging by” and “field.”
In a string of tweets sent on Wednesday after he had killed Alison Parker and Adam Ward, a cameraman, Bryce Williams accused the young reporter of racism.
However, an internal memo sets out how Williams – whose real name was Vester Flanagan – was angered by her use of the innocuous terms “swinging by” and “field”.
The 24-year-old reporter had used the expressions during her time doing work experience at WDBJ TV in Roanoke but led to a complaint from Williams, who was black.
In the hours after his deadly spree he repeated his complaints in a series of Tweets.
“Alison made racist comments,” he posted while he was on the run, before adding: “They hired her after that??”
