Christopher Warren Page, 28, an officer with the Paris, Tennessee police department, admits killing his son.

On Sept. 2, Page’s infant son, Gunner, suffered life-threatening injuries and died five days later on Sept. 7, officials at TBI said, adding that investigators “developed information leading to Page as the individual responsible for his son’s death.”

Police say that somebody in Page’s home, which he shares with his partner, Hope Carson, called 911 on the morning of Sept. 2 to report that Gunner had stopped breathing, notes the Daily Mail.

Emergency services rushed the infant to nearby Henry County Medical Center, where he was later airlifted to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee, where he died.

Before Gunner died in the hospital, 24th District Attorney General Matthew Stowe ordered the TBI to investigate what had happened to the baby. Local law enforcement agencies voluntarily removed themselves from the the investigation due a possible conflict of interest, since Page was employed with the Paris Police Department at the time.

Weeks later, TBI agents determined that Page was responsible for the baby’s life-threatening injuries, the details of which have not yet been disclosed.
