Here is a trained, really good guy with a gun.

A St. Louis, Missouri, mother of a double homicide victim was accidentally shot in the leg when a police officer fired at her dog and struck her instead.

At the request of the Children’s Division of the Missouri Department of Social Services, on Oct. 29 at least three officers went to the 42-year-old woman’s home with social workers to remove a 1-year-old from the residence, St. Louis Police Chief Sam Dotson said, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

The woman is the mother of 23-year-old James Cobb, who was found dead inside a car with Haris Hajdarevic, 22, following a double shooting the night before in the same location.

One officer and the social workers were making their way inside the woman’s home when a pit bull allegedly jumped a waist-high barricade that was keeping it confined to the kitchen. The dog ran toward the officer and the social workers and the officer fired one shot at the dog fearing it would hurt them.

The bullet struck the woman in the leg as she was trying to contain the dog.
