Maryland College Closes Because Of Gun Threat
Washington College in Maryland suspended classes Monday because of a gun threat. The Baltimore Sun reports:
“Please continue to shelter in place. Faculty/staff do not report. Awaid word from DPS,” the school said on Twitter.
Around 7:30 a.m., the school said on its website that the parents of a sophomore informed the college Monday morning that the male student retreived a gun from the family’s home near Philadelphia, but that family was unable to reach him. Family also didn’t know where the student was heading, according to the school statement.
Washington College spokesman Michael O’Connor told the Associated Press the student has not been spotted on campus.
“Due to an abundance of caution the college has decided to close campus for the time being and asks all students and staff on campus to shelter in place,” the university said in a statement. “Anyone off campus should stay away from campus until further notice.”
