Paper: Christie Gun Plan ‘Absurd’ And ‘Moronic’

The New York Daily News picks apart Chris Christie’s effort to appease the gun lobby.
Just when you thought New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie could stoop no lower in pursuit of the Republican presidential nomination than vowing to spurn a Syrian refugee toddler, he cavalierly puts his constituents in the crosshairs of gun violence through calculated exploitation of a woman’s murder.
Christie on Tuesday announced that he would adopt the recommendations of a firearms commission that he created on the eve of his June 30 presidential campaign kickoff.
The panel’s mandate, absurd in an era of mass murder by terrorists and the insane but pitch-perfect to all too many GOP primary voters:
Review all of New Jersey’s gun purchasing and permit regulations, not to further rein in firearms sales and ownership but to arm as many people as possible, as quickly as possible, “while maintaining public safety.”
That’s oxymoronic — or, in Christie’s case, just moronic.
