The head of the Chamber of Commerce says Donald Trump’s proposed tariffs would be a disaster for the average consumer.

Donald Trump’s proposed 45% tariff on Chinese exports to the United States would be such a blow to U.S. consumers and businesses that “they’d probably impeach [him] when they figured out what that really meant,” the CEO of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce said Friday morning.

Speaking with Bloomberg TV’s David Westin and calling it an overstatement to make a point, the Chamber’s Tom Donohue said it was “the citizens that go to Wal-Mart and Target, and go to their stores, and people that buy components” who would pay for the policy.
