DeLay: ‘We all have our flaws, but Denny Hastert has very few’

Former GOP House Majority Leader Tom DeLay has written a letter to the court asking that former GOP House Speaker Dennis Hastert get leniency in his federal trial for committing bank fraud to cover up his sexual abuse of a student athlete when he was a high school wrestling coach. “We all have our flaws, but Dennis Hastert has very few. He is a good man that loves the lord. He gets his integrity and values from Him. He doesn’t deserve what he is going through,” DeLay writes. Hastert abused at least four boys at Yorkville High, prosecutors said in an April 8 pre-sentencing memo that detailed the allegations. One said he was 14 when Hastert abused him in a motel room after telling the boy he wanted to check a groin injury.
