She was publicly shamed because someone thought she wasn’t dressed appropriately.

Liberte Chan, in a black sleeveless dress, was reporting the weather on KTLA when someone off-camera held up a sweater on camera for her to wear. After Chan exclaimed “You want me to put this on? Why? Because it’s cold?” a man from behind the scenes answered, “We’re getting a lot of emails.”

“What? I look like a librarian now,” exclaimed Chan on-camera as she proceeded to tie up the jacket in a stylish manner to wear with her dress. “I’m sorry, but the other dress didn’t work so I had to wear something,” she added.

Chan later commented on Twitter that a different dress she was wearing earlier, “keyed out” which prompted her to change outfits. Chan also apologized on Twitter when one user tweeted for Chan to stop using the “librarian stereotype.”
