Trump tweets Breitbart story claiming Obama supports ISIS

It’s garbage. Total garbage. The United States supported the opposition to Bashar al-Assad. In the coalition opposing the Syrian government was the group al Qaeda in Iraq. To Breitbart, and brainless retweeter, that means President Obama is guilty of treason.
“The report identifies Al Qaeda in Iraq (AQI) as being one of the principal elements of the Syrian opposition, which the West was choosing to ‘support,’” the report reads. “The intelligence report contains an extensive backgrounder on AQI and its methods and capabilities, noting that AQI was speaking through the spokesman of the Islamic State of Iraq Muhammad Al Adnani.”
As The Hill noted, Obama’s administration set up programs in 2012 to train and equip Syrian rebels against Bashar al-Assad. The Pentagon found it difficult to determine which groups would make the most trustworthy allies, and though regional factions fought against the Syrian president, the government’s support has been the subject ofboth legitimate concerns and conspiracy theories that some support fell into the wrong hands.
