Eleven people were injured at a Scotland theme park when the rollercoaster plunged.

The Tsunami ride at M&D’s park in Motherwell is thought to have had around 10 people on board, possibly including children as young as 10, when it derailed around 3.30pm.

Photographs taken at the park showed emergency services and members of the public attempting to rescue people from underneath an upturned carriage.

Witnesses claimed on Twitter that the carriage had plunged 30ft before smashing into the ground near a children’s ride and a couple of picnic tables. Others said the ride derailed as it came around a corner.
