A study shows the Republican plan to repeal Obamacare would leave 30 million Americans uninsured.

The analysis out Wednesday from the nonpartisan Urban Institute predicts heavy collateral damage for people buying their own health insurance independent from government markets like HealthCare.gov.

The study warns that repealing major parts of the Affordable Care Act without a clear replacement could upend the individual health insurance market.

About 22.5 million people would lose coverage due to repeal of the law’s direct subsidies and Medicaid expansion. Another 7.3 million would become uninsured indirectly because of market upheaval.
