Comey: FBI probing Team Trump ties to Russian interference in 2016 election
FBI Director James Comey has just told the House Intelligence Committee that the agency has launched a counterintelligence investigation probing ties between Donald Trump’s campaign and Russian government players concerning Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election. He gave no details and named no targets of teh probe, saying the investigation is “open” and “ongoing.” He also did not say what steps the FBI is taking since that is “the way it has to be” under the law and accepted procedures.
Comey also reasserted to the Committee that past comments concerning an investigation of the Clinton campaign were with regard to a closed investigation. As the Trump-Russia probe is ongoing, the situation, he said, is different
Comey also denounced whistleblowing… er, leaks of classified information as “serious serious federal crimes.”
