Trump-loving paper scorches Junior as pundits turn on Trump
When The New York Post runs an editorial titled “Donald Trump Jr. is an idiot,” you know they’re finally catching up with the reality-based world. We see one truly solid takeaway from the story of the day:
Donald Trump Jr. is an idiot.
In the heat of your father’s presidential campaign, a bozo British publicist e-mails you to set up a sitdown with a “Russian government attorney” promising “documents and information” to “incriminate Hillary” courtesy of the “Crown prosecutor of Russia” as “part of” the Russian government’s “support” for dad — and you eagerly take the meeting.
“If it’s what you say I love it,” wrote Junior. As if the government of former KGB spymaster Vladimir Putin would do anything so clumsy. (Our former colleague Kyle Smith put it nicely: “Don Jr. is why Nigerian e-mail scammers keep trying their luck.”)
And there’s more invective where that came from. Read here.
The hard-right rag did not make it their top story, opting instead to cover the funeral of a female NYPD officer who was murdered by a repeat criminal late last week, which is a prominent NYC story. The liberal-leaning NY Daily News was a bit less charitable to Junior on their front page:
And, in a sign that rats know when a ship has passed the “Iceberg dead ahead!” threshold, several conservative pundits are getting quite critical of the Trump Regime. Here’s Charles Krauthammer on FOX News Channel:
And how about this from National Review?
No campaign professional would have accepted such a dodgy meeting the way Trump Jr. did, and no person with a strong sense of propriety — Russia is a hostile power run by a deeply corrupt regime — would have wanted to.
