GoDaddy boots Nazi site that defamed Charlottesville terrorism victim; site pretends Anonymous hacked them
Yesterday, the Nazi web site Daily Stormer ran an article by their small-minded founder Andrew Anglin defaming Heather Heyer, the woman killed on Saturday in an ISIS-style car attack on anti-racist protesters in Charlottesville, VA. The title alone was a textbook case of cruel looks-shaming, slut-shaming, and misogyny targeting not only Hayes but her family and friends – and the content is more bilious, even excusing alleged terrorist James Fields because he was a”hardcore player” who succumbed to road rage.
Upon publication of the article, numerous social media outlets recommended that the site be reported to GoDaddy, which hoats Daily Stormer. Late last night, GoDaddy posted this message to their Web site:
We informed The Daily Stormer that they have 24 hours to move the domain to another provider, as they have violated our terms of service.

Early this morning, a new top story appeared at Daily Stormer, titled “END OF HATE: ANONYMOUS NOW IN CONTROL OF DAILY STORMER”. The article itself is more clumsily worded than most Anonymous missives, and does not fit their modus of pulling content offline and replacing any “frontend” access to one page.
It seems we are not the only party that smells a white-robed rat. Heavy.com reports
Anonymous has not taken credit for hacking the site. The Twitter user Your Anon News, one of the largest Anonymous Twitter accounts, said it has “no confirmation” that the group is involved. In fact, they suspect it was a stunt pulled by the Daily Stormer themselves.
There are several tells:
- The afore-mentioned clumsy wording (“SPEWED THEIR PUTRID HATE” and all-caps aren’t their style);
- “WE WILL ALLOW THE SITE TO REMAIN ONLINE FOR 24 HOURS” (not their modus);
- “LOCATIONAL DATA ON ANGLIN HIMSELF AND ARE SENDING OUR ALLIES IN LAGOS TO PAY HIM A VISIT IN PERSON” (again, not their modus, and this loooks like an attempt to mislead law enforcement about the location of Anglin, who is in hiding to avoid legal service in a lawsuit; this also looks like a racist in-joke.
Anonymous’ @Anonyinfo posted this to Twitter in the early morning hours:
Dailystormer is using @GoDaddy‘s removal to claim their website will be removed by #Anonymous within 24 hours. Nice try!

Chris Thuriaz adds:
#Anonymous has not taken control of #dailystormer – it’s a troll. Multiple dog-whistles and in-jokes on the post. If anon had actually…

Daily Stormer will move on the bbs.dailystormer after making a pretty penny off the anonymous publicity stunt they created.

We have no confirmation that “Anonymous” is involved yet. Looks more like a DS stunt. Wonder if they are having issues finding a new host. https://t.co/ikXXRBfC5p

With all respect to AnanyInfo, not so much a nice try as a really lame, money-grubbing try.
