Meet the bigot and conspiracy kook Bolton just put near the top of the NSC
Here’s a hot catch from Josh Marshall:
National Security Adviser John Bolton’s new pick to be the National Security Council chief of staff has served for the last five years as the Senior Vice President for Policy and Programs at the Center for Security Policy, a Southern Poverty Law Center-designated hate group that espouses anti-Muslim conspiracy theories.
The Center for Security Policy’s website features a congratulatory post published Tuesday, confirming Fred Fleitz’s tenure.
He seems like such a nice person. Not.
Bolton tapped as the NSC’s executive secretary and chief of staff Fred Fleitz, an ardent critic of the Iran nuclear accord and Bolton’s former chief of staff while an undersecretary of state in the George W. Bush administration, according to Robert Palladino, a spokesman for the National Security Council.
Fleitz, a former CIA analyst and occasional guest on Fox News, is the author of “Obamabomb: A Dangerous and Growing National Security Fraud” and “The Coming North Korea Nuclear Nightmare: What Trump Must Do to Reverse Obama’s Strategic Patience.”
Fleitz is a conspira-whacko, as this telling quote from a December 2017 “interview” on FOX “News” [sic] Channel reveals:
President Trump saying that this was a witch hunt — and he might be right. But I think this was actually a Democratic trap. I think the Democrats paid for this dossier, the purpose of which was to set off an FBI investigation. The Trump campaign is made up of outsiders, they’re likely to get caught up in this investigation. After all, when Michael Flynn talked to the FBI, he didn’t have an attorney with him.
No, Fred. Republicans initially paid for the lion’s share of Michael Steele’s research — and, by golly, every fact that has emerged surrounding the claims made in the dossier has turned out to be true!
But we’re sure you will fit in well with the paranoids, cranks, and incompetents with which alleged real estate mogul Donald Trump has surrounded himself.
