Kamala Harris bails out of Prez race; Senator, former CA AG is first high profiler to throw in the towel
The first hint came just after noon:
Sen. Kamala Harris has canceled a high-profile New York fundraiser as she drops in the polls and amid reports that her 2020 presidential campaign is in disarray.
The event, which was scheduled to take place on Tuesday at the Paul Weiss law firm, was suddenly dropped due to what was described by the campaign as a “personal matter,” according to people familiar with the situation. No date was given for rescheduling. Donors were informed of the decision earlier Tuesday.
Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) has dropped out of the 2020 presidential race, The Daily Beast has confirmed.
The senator informed her staff on a phone call, less than an hour after it was reported that the campaign canceled a big-money New York City fundraiser scheduled for Tuesday evening.
ABC News adds:
The announcement comes after her campaign drastically cut her staff in October, funneling most of her campaign’s resources toward working on a strong victory in Iowa and leaving other early voting states such as New Hampshire and South Carolina with minimal staffing and funding.
Kamala Harris brought a lot to the race, and especially to the debates.
There were serious missteps — none bigger, imho, than the failure to clearly distill why she was running — but still.
The primary was better for her being in it.

It was just reported that Kamala Harris is dropping out. I am heartbroken for every person of color that begged people to listen to them about how wonderful this woman is, and for all of us who could have had her as our leader.
