Bride Fights For Wedding Refund When Groom Dies
Cassie Kelsey doesn’t feel she should pay for a wedding that never happened. Her groom-to-be, Adam Schneider, died September 7, long before the planned nuptials, scheduled for next summer.
“Losing him was unimaginable but I had to say goodbye to the future we planned together,” Kelsey told ABC 6.
Aside from dealing with the tragic loss, Kelsey has also had to ask vendors for refunds on her deposits. All but one has complied.
Valley Dale Ballroom has offered to refund Kelsey a third of her nearly $3,000 deposit and to put the rest towards a future event, according to ABC 6.
The vendor, Grand Events, reportedly sent a letter to Kelsey stating that it “wasn’t a moral issue but one of mitigation a financial loss from a cancellation.” The couple’s contract was non-refundable.
This didn’t sit well with Kelsey, who isn’t interested in putting the money towards a future event, but rather helping Schneider’s family.
And it’s not like there’s not plenty of time to book the venue between now and the sadly-canceled event.
