Climate change isn’t coming, it’s already here and will only worsen, according to reports. That includes flooding, wildfires and drought, depending on where you live. But never mind all that facty stuff. On Sunday, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) said he doesn’t believe that human activity is behind climate change.

Rubio said on ABC’s ‘This Week,’ “I don’t agree with the notion that some are putting out there, including scientists, that somehow there are actions we can take today that would actually have an impact on what’s happening in our climate.”

He went on to sciencesplain, “Our climate is always changing. And what they have chosen to do is take a handful of decades of research and say that this is now evidence of a longer-term trend that’s directly and almost solely attributable to manmade activity, I do not agree with that.”

ABC’s Jonathan Karl asked, “But let me get this straight, you do not think that human activity, its production of CO2, has caused warming to our planet?”

Rubio remarked, “I do not believe that human activity is causing these dramatic changes to our climate the way these scientists are portraying it. That’s what I do not — and I do not believe that the laws that they propose we pass will do anything about it. Except it will destroy our economy,” Rubio responded.”

In December of 2012, Rubio said, “Whether the Earth was created in 7 days, or 7 actual eras, I’m not sure we’ll ever be able to answer that. It’s one of the great mysteries.”

Stuff to know: The Koch brothers are Americas biggest polluters and Rubio is one of the billionaire siblings’ top beneficiaries.

They didn’t create the job, it was already there. They did however purchase the position’s current inhabitant.

Did anybody ask him, then in what way do you believe human activity is causing these dramatic changes if not the way scientists are portraying this, and who are you getting your portrayal from? I believe its ExxonMobil BP and the coal companies. Blatant shillory portrayal maybe …

  5. sisi May 11th, 2014 at 2:33 pm

Destroying the economy!!! OMG. You mean like what happened three weeks before Bush left office, think it would destroy it that bad?? Three weeks before and Rubio still has the testosteral to say Obama is not making good on promises made before Bush drove us off the cliff.Stupid hick period

    • servant1951 May 11th, 2014 at 3:49 pm

Short memory syndrome anyone? I am not responding on this post/page to completely exonerate George Bush, but to share my memory with you. Both the Senate and House were in full and complete control by the democrats during the last two years of the Bush presidency. Only thing he failed doing was to not veto all the spending pushed through by the two houses. I know, he would have been out-voted by the democrats, but his legacy would have been different. But the last actions during the Bush presidency cannot be blamed on Bush or Republicans. This is not a partisan comment. It is history.

      • sisi May 11th, 2014 at 4:04 pm

Dude talk about short memory.First you say that your not replying to exonerate bush, and then you say the last actions during the Bush presidency cannot be blamed on Bush OR Republicans. Whew

        • servant1951 May 11th, 2014 at 5:11 pm

Sorry about being unclear. I meant not to exonerate Bush on all issues. His support for increased federal control over education, extensions to the Patriot Act beyond the period of need, etc. etc. is what I meant by not totally exonerate him. But the spending originated in the last months of his presidency were originated in the democrat-controlled Congress. Those issues, beyond Bush not vetoing them, are not his legacy, but the legacy of progressive numb-scullery.

interesting how you toss out the thought which is thoughtless.

  6. mea_mark May 11th, 2014 at 2:42 pm

Poor Rubio, the republican outreach to the Hispanics is a dismal failure and his only path left to stay in power is to sell every last bit of integrity he has, along with his soul, to the evil powers destroying the Earth for fun and profit. I feel so sorry for Rubio, if only he could have seen the obvious, perhaps he could of ended up being a descent person. Oh well, it is time to move on and vote him out of office as soon as possible and leave him to rot where ever it is he ends up. Hopefully he will compost down and finally contribute something of worthiness to life on this planet.

    • Aquaria May 11th, 2014 at 3:26 pm

You assume he had any integrity to begin with. It’s always been obvious that such is not the case.

    • Judy Mccracken June 26th, 2014 at 12:40 am

Rubio was lucky, he won due to a three way race…. Charlie Crist should have been our Senator but we will have to settle for him being governor one more time….. Unless we have some smart folks in south fla that will vote Rubio out, he’s in a safe district….. cause I dont think anyone, even the folks LIVING ON THE WATER, are willing to deny, along with mr rubio…..

  7. M D Reese May 11th, 2014 at 5:47 pm

Science happens whether you “believe” in it or not. It’s not at all like religion, which ceases to exist when you don’t believe in it.

  8. Andrew Babin May 11th, 2014 at 6:03 pm

So, he admits that there are dramatic changes in the climate but doesn’t think we should do anything about it because it might hurt the economy. I’m sure when countless people are dead and pestilence overruns every developed country in the world because we’ve rendered the climate unsuitable for a sustainable civilization, everybody will be SO thankful for the GOP’s inaction because they did everything they could possibly do to protect their own self-interests and wealth.

That’s so unbelievably short-sighted, I’m surprised Rubio can even see past the end of his nose.

    • fyjfjfyj May 11th, 2014 at 8:17 pm

his problem is that anything man does can literally not affect the changing climate. any changes we make to our lives will only serve to harm people financially. we didn’t exist as we did during the ice age, are you saying we caused the ice age too? we’re not causing this climate change either. and we are powerless to stop it.

what we should do is prepare for the inevitability of climate change. prepare, as in, prepare to live on a different earth as we know it today. we cannot change what will happen to the climate. but we can create things to lessen its effects on humanity.

      • MikeTheInfidel May 12th, 2014 at 8:10 am

        >his problem is that anything man does can literally not affect the changing climate.

A single beaver can redirect a river… but you think humanity can’t change the climate? GROW UP.

      • Andrew Babin May 12th, 2014 at 11:45 am

You’re right. I guess all of the scientists who couldn’t be any more clear that humans are dangerously affecting the climate are just completely wrong. Way to provide definitive evidence that they’re wrong.

Money will be worth f**k all when the agriculture industry fails and we have no food to eat.

    • Judy Mccracken June 26th, 2014 at 12:36 am

Rubio, the good looking empty suit, & chit for brains is DESPERATE to hold on to his job & he prob will… safe district for repubs…. however his district is also slowly being ate up by the ocean changes he continues to deny, BUT he would also deny the HUGH PILE of toxic COAL ASH produced Koch & Duke Energy…. that pile of chit is 5 stories high & a block long… pouring toxic air to breathe and ruining the Dan River & other waterways….. But what the hell, if the Koch’s say its ok, then it OK, eh Mr Rubio?

  9. mexhapati May 11th, 2014 at 6:09 pm

nothing but lukewarm noncomittal replies? “…guess we’ll never know…it’s one of the great mysteries” ….weak…. very weak

Rubio’s Big Oil bought science Illiteracy ignores that each year since 1958 is another 1.3 M year+ Global Warming Climate Change record: -‘Modern Climate Change is 80% caused by human burning of fossil fuels and 20% caused by mans deforestation’-NASA, NOAA, UK’s MET and 99% of Climatologists agree that not even 1 climate change indicator is in decline http://climate.nasa.gov/key_indicators

“The 12 hottest years on record have come in the last 15 years”-POTUS Obama SOTU February 12th, 2013-Politifact True Via NASA/NOAA et al. “NOAA’s data for land and ocean temperature anomalies shows that 14 of the past 15 years were the hottest on record.” http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2013/feb/15/barack-obama/barack-obama-says-12-hottest-years-record-have-com/ If you’re a Limbot then youi must be factually illiterate.

Dear Mr. Rubio: Please get your lips off the Kochs.

  11. Dwendt44 May 11th, 2014 at 11:32 pm

Poor Rubio got he science education from…the bible?

Guess so, but he can’t reveal the exact chapter and verse, that would be dishonest.

  12. manuelroyal May 12th, 2014 at 8:04 am

So, does Rubio have anything to say about gravity lensing, or electron transfer in transitional metals? Probably not, since he’s neither an astrophysicist nor a chemist. He’s also not trained in climatology, so I don’t know why he feels qualified to disagree with the consensus of thousands of scientists. The absorption spectrum of carbon doesn’t care whether you’re a Republican or a Democrat; it’s just a fact of the physical universe.

  13. craig7120 May 12th, 2014 at 8:53 am

What’s that saying? Doesn’t matter if you believe in a god, god believes in you….yeah, doesn’t matter if Mr Rubio believes in science, science explains why he exists.
My end all saying to anti-science kooks, what prayer do you say when you have a toothache? What prayer helps with your headache? Given what’s known, would you for go science and use a prayer cure for cancer? Do you consult the gop for prenatal care?

  14. UsedtoBE May 12th, 2014 at 8:59 am

So Florida has given us Rubio, Allen West & that cocaine snorting, unrepentant Rep Trey Radel who’s not in jail AND one of the biggest GOP liars on television, Joe Scarborough. What gives, Floridians? WHAT have we done to you to deserve these morons?

    • Judy Mccracken June 26th, 2014 at 12:30 am

You didnt mention the Medicare thief, who the tea baggers hired in 2010, Rick Scott…. fined 1.7 BILLION dollars in Medicare fraud and took the 5th, 75 TIMES…. & yet the Koch’s tea baggers managed to get him elected in the captial Medicare state of Florida….. What can I say?…

BUT, Scott, a Koch puppet, was one of the many right wing govs that got foot in door in 2010 due to low voter turn out… we got what we deserved & they got what the Kochs wanted…. a agenda to stop the vote, thru ALEC voter suppression BS, women’s rights challenged, kiling Unions, hinder or obstruct any extension of the safety nets, i.e Soc Sec, Ext wkm comp, Food Stamps, etc.. yep the little Koch retreat party for the newly hired right wing govs to get their agenda … mission accomplished…. the Koch’s goals for corporate states are off to a good start……
