Tea Party Candidate’s Campaign Denied Knowledge Of Break-In At Nursing Home; Report Proves Otherwise
The Clarion-Ledger is reporting that North Carolina State Sen. Chris McDaniel’s campaign, who issued a statement denying knowledge of the break-in at the nursing home where Sen. Thad Cochran’s bedridden wife lives and photographing her, knew of the plan beforehand.
28-year-old Clayton Thomas Kelly, a Tea Party blogger, has been supportive of State Sen. Chris McDaniel, and created a “hit piece” for a video which has since been taken down. McDaniel’s campaign previously said the blogger has ‘no relationship’ with the campaign.
As it happens, the Clarion-Ledger reports that McDaniel called Cochran’s campaign manager on Saturday morning at 7:45 a.m. to offer condolences about the break-in. The problem is that took place about 90 minutes before the connection to the Cochrans became public knowledge.
Kelly was arrested Friday night by the Madison Police Department. Police released a statement about Kelly’s arrest late that night, but neither it and nor initial news reports mentioned Rose Cochran. The release only included a brief statement about his charge of exploitation of a vulnerable adult.
The Clarion-Ledger reported the incident previously but Cochran’s wife Rose, who has Alzheimer’s, was not mentioned in that initial report.
Chris McDaniel’s campaign manager, state Sen. Melanie Sojourner, apparently knew about Clayton Kelly’s arrest before news of him allegedly sneaking into Rose Cochran’s nursing home room and taking photos broke.
A spokesman for Cochran told the Ledger, “I think it would be interesting to know how (Sojourner) would hear about it before 7:45 a.m.”
What sort of winning strategy is this to take photos of a vulnerable, elderly person?
Edward Murrow is spinning in his grave.

so how do you make a hit piece about a candidate’s wife having the misfortune to have Alzheimers? I would think that would only gain sympathy. Since HIPPA was passed health care facilities are more careful about privacy. This guy broke a lot of laws.

{Edward Murrow is spinning in his grave.} — and there is probably a conservative blogger there trying to get a video of it, for some big story they want to write. Nothing is sacred anymore to the party that worships the GOP Jesus.
