As the right-wing echo chamber ramps up about how horrible it is that five Guantanamo Bay detainees have been freed, let’s remember that 520 Gitmo detainees were released under George W. Bush.

Indeed, government documents indicate more than 500 detainees were released or transferred from Guantanamo while George W. Bush was president. A White House executive order issued on the second day of Obama’s presidency said, ” The federal government has moved more than 500 such detainees from Guantánamo, either by returning them to their home country or by releasing or transferring them to a third country.”

That’s backed up by a fact sheet from the military task force that runs the detention camp, which says 520 detainees had been released or transferred by March 2009.

One of the detainees is suspected in the Benghazi attack.

U.S. officials suspect that a former Guantanamo Bay detainee played a role in the attack on the American diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya, and are planning to designate the group he leads as a foreign terrorist organization, according to officials familiar with the plans.

Militiamen under the command of Abu Sufian bin Qumu, the leader of Ansar al-Sharia in the Libyan city of Darnah, participated in the attack that killed U.S. Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens and three other Americans, U.S. officials said…

In 2007, Qumu was released from the U.S. prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and sent to Libya, where he was detained. The Libyan government released him in 2008.

    It does not matter.

When the engines of the right wing noise machine have been revved, when the talking points have been distributed, and the storyline established, facts do not matter.

First you demonize, then you create an appropriate narrative to support that demonization. That is what happened with Trayvon Martin. According to the right wing noise machine, Martin was a “thug” who got what he deserved; end of story.

It is all because of the weak, dishonest Muslim in the White House that 4 dead on 9/11/2012 is infinitely worse than 3,000 dead on 9/11/2001. Rush said so, so obviously it is true.

Now, the script calls for Sgt. Bergdahl to be portrayed a cowardly traitor who should have been left to rot in prison. For good measure, why not destroy the reputations of his parents while they are at it.

The President has jeopardized national security, military security, troop safety, the American way, and apple pie. FOX said so, it’s just gotta be true.

Any sensible attempt to objectively evaluate this event in the context of previous administrations and their policies, is dismissed with contempt, as “blaming Bush”.

    Birth certificate
    Benghazi
    Bergdahl

    Time for another b-word.

Son of a b*tch, here we go again….

    • John Tarter June 3rd, 2014 at 12:39 am

Have you heard what the other soldiers who were in his platoon said about Bergdahl? To a man they said he was at the very least a deserter.

      • fahvel June 3rd, 2014 at 3:32 am

have you “heard” a single word said by any of them??????

        • STICKERS ARE UGLY June 6th, 2014 at 3:13 pm

Yes, they were on Megyn Kelly show last night, all 6 said he was a deserter, which he is…his team leader also says in a write up that he heard radio transmissions that he purposefully sought out the taliban, and in the preceding months, attacks on their FOB increased, and were very precise…its on the internet, go find it

      • Roger N. Kirkman June 3rd, 2014 at 6:27 am

Just proves the point that the demonization of Bergdahl began very early in the smear campaign and you’re now reading that statement. If the other soldiers REALLY said that “Bergdahl at the very least was a deserter”, don’t you think that clip would be on Fox News already? No, there’s nothing to back up the claim, so they don’t publicize anything other than “there’s this rumor”. Just the use of the words “at the very least” should tip you off. Wake up, dude, and smell the hostility unfounded.

        • John Tarter June 3rd, 2014 at 8:10 am

You are right and I am wrong. Sgt. Bergdahl needs to be given the Medal Of Honor and made President of the United States for his heroism. (And maybe we can throw in chief dog catcher while we are at it)

          • EstebanCafe June 3rd, 2014 at 5:59 pm

Dude, check your White privilege–I love that argument ending racist statement ! I can use it everywhere because I’m Brown and have been give a special dispensation over your white guys–with my “deeper knowing” derived from my color. I just play the race card and I win the argument.

You have already elected a moron as your president and he hates his military. I can read that in my own papers–who needs the NYT to tell us that ?

We don’t convict someone with out hearing their side of what happened. It isn’t mob rule. But then you conservatives that are always crying that this is a nation of laws don’t really care about the law you only care about your ideology. This narrative you are trying to spin about our soldier that was released from 5 years of captivity prove it because you have already convicted him of a crime with out a trial and have decided because you have convicted him he should be sentenced to a life time of Taliban captivity. What a bunch of hypocrites you are.

Those who were CLOSEST to him who are first hand eyewitnesses say he is a deserter.

          http://www.mediaite.com/tv/bergdahl-team-leader-to-cnn-hes-a-deserter-who-sought-out-the-taliban/
Buetow told CNN that, within days of Bergdahl’s disappearance, military teams monitoring radio communications intercepted radio chatter and telephonic communication which indicated that an American was searching for Taliban members who spoke English.

“When we heard that, it told us, okay, he’s actively seeking out the Taliban,” Buetow said. “And, yes, over the next couple of months, all the attacks were far more directed.”

“I heard it straight from the interpreter’s lips as he heard it over the radio,” Buetow told Tapper. “There’s a lot more to this story than a soldier walking away.”

“I don’t really want to get into the political side of anything,” Buetow continued. “My goal is to show that Bergdahl is a deserter. He’s not a hero, and that he needs to answer for what he did.”

“We gave up a lot for what we got back,” Buetow said of America’s “very small victory” in recovering Bergdahl from Taliban captivity.

It’s not like the American Left to impose gag restrictions on those involved in the weaponization of your IRS or the Benghazi and Fast and Furious witnesses–NO way–not the “most transparent administration EVER.”

      • EstebanCafe June 3rd, 2014 at 5:51 pm

3000 hearings ? There haven’t been that many days since it went down.
And your administration has sworn all those involved to secrecy–with non-disclosure agreements.

It’s clearly a cover up. And it will out. They always do. Hopefully in time for Hillary to address it straight up. A ‘video’ ? Please tell me you’re not an “idioso” and that you don’t believe that tale.

Why the blindfold on Benghazi ? Why the blind acceptance of the “video” joke ? Sir, your American Left has far more to explain than your American Right.

That very same week, there were dozens of spontaneous protests all over the Middle-East over the offensive Youtube video attacking Islam.

It was only natural to think that Benghazi was one of those protests, since it occurred right at the same time. I’m still not convinced that it WAS a mistake. I would not be surprised if the widespread anger over the video might have played a role.

Don’t leave them behind ? Tell that to the parents of the four dead in Benghazi.

Your insipid president chooses who lives and dies–heroes or traitors ? He chose the latter–mostly to create a new news cycle to take the focus off your dead vets in your VA system. Works well.

      • Chinese Democracy June 3rd, 2014 at 6:27 pm

but you like weaponizing things. IF its ok for a RWNJ to carry an assault rifle into a crowded Dennys where kids are eating. Its ok for the IRS to have guns too ..right?

  5. John Tarter June 3rd, 2014 at 12:36 am

A couple of questions for my learned friends. Was there a law in place that said GWB had to notify the Congress 30 days in advance and did he comply with the law? The fact is, now THERE IS a law that says the president must notify the Congress 30 days before releasing any detainee. Did President Obama notify the Congress or did he once again BREAK THE LAW? P.S. No excuses please, just the facts.

    • Chinese Democracy June 3rd, 2014 at 12:58 am

you mean just a yes or no answer? NO Just as Bush did over and over Obama is claiming near absolute executive power and augmenting this claim with the use of the Bush signing statement tactic. Obama is claiming that Congress cannot limit his control over detainees at Gitmo.

The U.S never negotiated directly with any terrorists. Qatar did.

Is the rightwing blogosphere going nuts over release of gitmo prisoners because they are afraid its the beginning of the end for Gitmo? YES OR NO

      • EstebanCafe June 3rd, 2014 at 5:45 pm

Erosion of their liberties? Me to stop telling me who I can marry

    • Lisa June 3rd, 2014 at 4:29 am

My understanding is that since the Gitmo prisoners were transferred, not released, that the President did not need the advanced approval of Congress.

      • Bob Waas Sr. June 3rd, 2014 at 6:50 pm

Transferred? They were released to the country of Qatar and are to free to move about the country; with no USA supervision.
Still think it is a transfer?

        • Obewon June 3rd, 2014 at 7:11 pm

theFive are so closely supervised they can’t travel for 1 year or return to the battlefield, before the Afghani war ends 12/31/14 And ALL untried & unconvicted Taliban must be released when the war ends per Geneva, et al.

“uniformed” is Teabonic for neoclown Botz.

Ease up on the kool-aid Obewon. You’re dreaming to think that the Qatar government is going keep close tabs on these guys. Even Obama said it is possible they could get back into the fight.

As for the Geneva Convention: They are illegal combatants because they do not abide by any of the requirements of the Geneva Conventions. And the Conventions quite clearly state that its protection only applies to people who follow them. Their country would have to sign on and the combatants would have to wear a uniform.

    • Joshua Smith June 3rd, 2014 at 5:08 am

            1. IRS targets Obama’s enemies: The IRS targeted conservative and pro-Israel groups prior to the 2012 election. Questions are being raised about why this occurred, who ordered it, whether there was any White House involvement and whether there was an initial effort to hide who knew about the targeting and when.

            2. Benghazi: This is actually three scandals in one:

The failure of administration to protect the Benghazi mission.
The changes made to the talking points in order to suggest the attack was motivated by an anti-Muslim video
The refusal of the White House to say what President Obama did the night of the attack

            3. Watching the AP: The Justice Department performed a massive cull of Associated Press reporters’ phone records as part of a leak investigation.

            4. Rosengate: The Justice Department suggested that Fox News reporter James Rosen is a criminal for reporting about classified information and subsequently monitored his phones and emails.

            5. Potential Holder perjury I: Attorney General Eric Holder told Congress he had never been associated with “potential prosecution” of a journalist for perjury when in fact he signed the affidavit that termed Rosen a potential criminal.

            6. The ATF “Fast and Furious” scheme: Allowed weapons from the U.S. to “walk” across the border into the hands of Mexican drug dealers. The ATF lost track of hundreds of firearms, many of which were used in crimes, including the December 2010 killing of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry.

            7. Potential Holder Perjury II: Holder told Congress in May 2011 that he had just recently heard about the Fast and Furious gun walking scheme when there is evidence he may have known much earlier.

            8. Sebelius demands payment: HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius solicited donations from companies HHS might regulate. The money would be used to help her sign up uninsured Americans for ObamaCare.

            9. The Pigford scandal: An Agriculture Department effort that started as an attempt to compensate black farmers who had been discriminated against by the agency but evolved into a gravy train delivering several billion dollars in cash to thousands of additional minority and female farmers who probably didn’t face discrimination.

            10. GSA gone wild: The General Services Administration in 2010 held an $823,000 training conference in Las Vegas, featuring a clown and a mind readers. Resulted in the resignation of the GSA administrator.

            11. Veterans Affairs in Disney World: The agency wasted more than $6 million on two conferences in Orlando. An assistant secretary was fired.

            12. Sebelius violates the Hatch Act: A U.S. special counsel determined that Sebelius violated the Hatch Act when she made “extemporaneous partisan remarks” during a speech in her official capacity last year. During the remarks, Sebelius called for the election of the Democratic candidate for governor of North Carolina.

            13. Solyndra: Republicans charged the Obama administration funded and promoted its poster boy for green energy despite warning signs the company was headed for bankruptcy. The administration also allegedly pressed Solyndra to delay layoff announcements until after the 2010 midterm elections.

            14. AKA Lisa Jackson: Former EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson used the name “Richard Windsor” when corresponding by email with other government officials, drawing charges she was trying to evade scrutiny.

            15. The New Black Panthers: The Justice Department was accused of using a racial double standard in failing to pursue a voter intimidation case against Black Panthers who appeared to be menacing voters at a polling place in 2008 in Philadelphia.

            16. Waging war all by myself: Obama may have violated the Constitution and both the letter and the spirit of the War Powers Resolution by attacking Libya without Congressional approval.

            17. Biden bullies the press: Vice President Biden’s office has repeatedly interfered with coverage, including forcing a reporter to wait in a closet, making a reporter delete photos, and editing pool reports.

            18. AKPD not A-OK: The administration paid millions to the former firm of then-White House adviser David Axelrod, AKPD Message and Media, to promote passage of Obamacare. Some questioned whether the firm was hired to help pay Axelrod $2 million AKPD owed him.

            19. Sestak, we’ll take care of you: Former White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel used Bill Clinton as an intermediary to probe whether former Rep. Joe Sestak (D-Pa.) would accept a prominent, unpaid White House advisory position in exchange for dropping out of the 2010 primary against former Sen. Arlen Specter (D-Pa.).

            20. I’ll pass my own laws: Obama has repeatedly been accused of making end runs around Congress by deciding which laws to enforce, including the decision not to deport illegal immigrants who may have been allowed to stay in the United States had Congress passed the “Dream Act.”

            21. The hacking of Sharyl Attkisson’s computer: It’s not clear who hacked the CBS reporter’s computer as she investigated the Benghazi scandal, but the Obama administration and its allies had both the motive and the means to do it.

            22. An American Political Prisoner: The sudden decision to arrest Nakoula Basseley Nakoula on unrelated charges after protests in the Arab world over his anti-Muslim video is an extraordinarily suspicious coincidence. “We’re going to go out and we’re going to prosecute the person that made that video,” Hillary Clinton allegedly told the father of one of the ex-SEALs killed in Banghazi.

            23. Get rid of inconvenient IGs: Corporation for National and Community Service Inspector General Gerald Walpin was fired in 2009 as he fought wasteful spending and investigated a friend of Obama’s, Sacramento Mayor and former NBA player Kevin Johnson. The White House says Walpin was incompetent.

            24. Influence peddling: An investigation is underway of Alejandro Mayorkas, director of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, who has been nominated by Obama for the number two post at the Department of Homeland Security. Mayorkas may have used his position to unfairly obtain U.S. visas for foreign investors in company run by Hillary Clinton’s brother, Anthony Rodman.

            1. IRS targets Obama’s enemies: The IRS targeted conservative and pro-Israel groups prior to the 2012
            _______

There is a much greater thing from the GOP for EVERYTHING you mention.

The IRS was doing it’s job in looking at all the new groups seeking the tax exemption under the Supreme Court’s new law.

Liberal groups and medical marijuana groups were also “targeted”, but Issa do not want them in his report.

The REAL IRS , “targeting enemies” scandal:

            IRS targeted NAACP in 2004

By KELSEY SNELL | 5/13/13 4:51 PM EDT

            This isn’t the first time
the IRS has been in hot water for meddling in the politics of nonprofits. And
if past is prelude, the Obama administration may have a years-long scandal on
            its hands.

In 2004, the NAACP was hit
with an audit over accusations of improper political activity for criticizing
            the Bush administration.

            IRS targeted Church in
            2005;

In 2004, a preacher at All
Saints Episcopal Church in Pasadena, Calif., delivered an anti-war sermon. The
3,500-member church found itself under investigation, but was able to beat
back the agency after hiring high-powered Washington attorneys and
soliciting support from conservative and liberal religious groups.

            In 2004, the Wall Street
Journal reported that the IRS audited Greenpeace at the request of Public
Interest Watch, a group that’s funded by Exxon-Mobil.

            The Bush IRS Collected
            Political Affiliation Data on Taxpayers;

            In 2006, a contractor
hired by the IRS collected party affiliation via a search of voter registration
rolls in a laundry list of states: Alaska, Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut,
Delaware, Florida, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nevada, New Jersey, New
York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas, Utah
and Wisconsin. This begs the obvious question: why? Why would the IRS need
voter registration and party affiliation information?

            And why;

            A spokesman for Treasury
Inspector General J. Russell George told The Hill on Tuesday that Issa had
requested investigators “narrowly focus on tea party organizations.”

I will debunk the rest of your list as I go about my business this evening.

It all shows that what the right accuse the left of, is usually what THEY are doing.

The memo seen by Prof Sands reveals:

Everything from your list (I googled it) is a half truth, an exaggeration or a falsehood.

Certainly nothing as serious as past administrations, about which you guys had nothing to say.

            But to debunk;

            2. Benghazi:

Nowhere Near Beirut, 9/11 and the Embassy attacks under Bush.

            1) The failure of administration to protect the Americans at
Beirut, in the Towers and embassies, after warnings.

In Beirut, there were repeated warnings and THREE attacks.

            2) “The changes made to the talking points in order to suggest the attack was motivated by an anti-Muslim video..”

Senate Select Committee On Intelligence: “Talking Points Went Through The Normal Interagency Coordination Process.” The Senate Committee on Intelligence review determined there was no effort by the administration to cover-up or alter the
            talking points for political purposes:

The Majority concludes that the interagency coordination process on the talking points followed normal, but rushed coordination procedures and that there were no efforts by the White House or any other Executive Branch entities to “cover-up” facts or make alterations for political purposes.
Indeed, former CIA Director David Petraeus testified to the Committee on November 16, 2012, “They went through the normal process that talking
points-unclassified public talking points-go through.” In fact, the purpose of the National Security Council (NSC) is to coordinate the many national security agencies of the government, especially when information about a terrorist attack is flowing in and being analyzed quickly-and the NSC used this role appropriately in the case of the talking points coordination.
Furthermore, such coordination processes were also standardized, often at the urging of Congress, following the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks with the explicit goal of reducing information “stovepipes” between and among agencies. [Review Of The Terrorist Attacks On U.S. Facilities In
Benghazi, Libya, September 11-12, 2012, U.S. Senate Select Committee on
            Intelligence, 1/15/14]

The Rhodes Email Relied On CIA Talking Points. Laying out a timeline of events, Slate’s David Weigel pointed out that the Rhodes email came “hours after the CIA and State Department
were urging that the assault on the U.S. consulate be blamed on a protest.”

“it’s just lazy journalism or lazy politicking to blame Rhodes for a talking point that was fed from the CIA.” [Slate, 4/30/14]

Email Consistent With Intelligence Reports At The Time. The email issued by Rhodes, which advised Rice on her upcoming appearances, provided information about global protests and said specifically about the attack, “the currently available information suggests that the demonstrations in Benghazi were spontaneously inspired by the protests at the US Embassy in Cairo and evolved into a direct assault against the US Consulate and subsequently its annex.” The language used by Rhodes is nearly identical to the initial draft of the CIA talking points, and was consistent with the intelligence community.

            As opposed to;

… Condi, who “could not have imagined planes used as missiles ” after they knew that an Algerian group hijacked an airliner in 1994, … possibly to crash it into the Eiffel tower, and Italy closed the airspace over Genoa and mounted antiaircraft batteries at the Genoa airport during the G-8 summit which President Bush attended”.

            And
Legislation May Take Six Months, Says Cheney Aide

Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), who, with Senator Jon Kyl (R-AZ), has sent a copy of draft legislation on counterterrorism and national defense to Vice President Cheney’s office on July
20, is told by Cheney’s top aide Lewis “Scooter” Libby on this day “that it might be another six months before he would be able to review the material.” [DIANNE FEINSTEIN, 5/17/2002; NEWSWEEK, 5/27/2002]

The difference is that no one used these tragedies for cheap
            political stunts.

used these tragedies for cheap political stunts.

            3. Watching the AP:

            The Bush FBI Targeted Journalists
with the New York Times and the Washington Post. By now, we’re all familiar with the AP situation in which U.S.
attorney Ronald Machen subpoenaed and confiscated phone records from the AP as
part of a leak investigation into an article about a CIA operation that took
place in Yemen to thwart a terrorist attack on the anniversary of Bin Laden’s
death. Well, this story pales in comparison with the Bush administration’s
inquisition against the reporters who broke the story about the NSA wiretapping
program. In fact, the Justice Department considered invoking the Espionage Act
of 1917, the archaic sequel to the John Adams-era Alien and Sedition Acts. The
Bush FBI seized phone records — without subpoena — from four American
journalists, including Raymond Bonner and Jane Perlez. How do we know this for
sure? Former FBI Director Robert Mueller apologized to the New York Times
            and the Washington Post.

            4. Rosengate:

            See above.

Plus here , it was about
            the leak, not the journalist.

            5. Potential Holder
            perjury

Piker compared to Gonzales and Bush’s chief of staff, Andrew H.
Card Jr., were on their way to the hospital while he was sick and
            medicated to persuade Ashcroft to
reauthorize Bush’s domestic surveillance program, which the Justice Department
            had just determined was illegal.

While he was listed as a
“co-conspirator,” that often does not mean he would be considered a
            target.

            6. The ATF “Fast and
            Furious” scheme:

            Nothing there.

Where were YOU when the Al
Qa Quaa munitions dump scandal was looted, (after they were WARNED that they
did not have enough troops), to be used in ieds against our troops.

            7. Potential Holder Perjury
II: Holder told Congress in May 2011 that he had just recently heard about the
Fast and Furious gun walking scheme when there is evidence he may have known
            much earlier.

            Holder was right.

Can you compare that to the US
            attorney firing?

            8. Sebelius demands payment:
HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius solicited donations from companies HHS might
regulate. The money would be used to help her sign up uninsured Americans for
            ObamaCare.

            What’s wrong with that?

Over the past three months, Sebelius
has made multiple phone calls to health industry executives, community
organizations and church groups and asked that they contribute whatever they
can to nonprofit groups that are working to enroll uninsured Americans and
            increase awareness of the law.

Sebelius did not solicit for funds
directly from industries that HHS regulates, such as insurance companies and
hospitals, but rather asked them to contribute in whatever way they can.

Did you mind Bush fundraising off of
groups he gave no bid contracts to?

            9. The Pigford scandal:

Nothing to see there but in
            YOUR minds.

            The Congressional Research
            Service reported that:

            These statistics, however,
failed to recognize that many farms are operated by more than one farm
operator. In addition, it is important to note that there may be other reasons
for discrepancies between the number of farmers reflected in farm Census data
and the number of claimants under Pigford or Pigford II. For example,
individuals who attempted to farm but who were denied loans or other farm
assistance would not be counted as farmers but may have been or may be eligible
to file a claim under the terms of the two settlement agreements. Likewise, the
estate of a deceased individual who farmed or attempted to farm during the eligibility
period may be entitled to relief under either settlement, but such persons
would not be counted as farm operators. Finally, due to fraud or mistake, some
individuals who are not eligible may have filed or may file claims under
Pigford or Pigford II, but such claims would not be entitled to an award.

The REAL scandal was the way in
            which they treated Shirley Sherrod.

            10. GSA gone wild:

            Did THAT come anywhere
            close to memogate?

            Or the DOJ completely botched
the nation’s first post-9/11 terrorism trial, as seen when the convictions of
three Detroit men allegedly linked to al-Qaida were overturned in September

The Federal Advisory Committee Act says
the government must disclose the work of groups that include non-federal
employees; the suit claims energy industry executives were effectively task
force members. Oh, and the Bush administration has portrayed the Iraq war as a
response to 9/11, not something it was already considering.

            12. Sebelius violates the Hatch
            Act:

            Report: George W. Bush aides
            violated Hatch Act

            A long-running federal
investigation has found that White House political aides to President George W.
Bush engaged in widespread violations of a federal law which limits partisan
political activity by government employees during the 2006 midterm elections.

            A 118-page report issued
Monday by the little-known Office of Special Counsel cites numerous violations
of the Hatch Act by the Bush-era White House Office of Political Affairs. The
report concludes that federal taxpayers footed the bill for improper activities
that were intended to advance Republican political candidates.

            “The entire [Office of
Political Affairs] staff was enlisted in pursuit of Republican success at the
polls and many OPA employees believed that effort was part of their official
job duties,” the report concludes. “Based on the extent of the activities
described below, OSC concludes that the political activities of OPA employees
were not incidental to their official functions, and thus U.S. Treasury funds
were unlawfully used to finance efforts to pursue Republican victories at the
            polls in 2006.”

holdings of their stock — including Intel, whose executives were seeking
government approval of a merger. “Washington hadn’t seen a clearer example of a
conflict of interest in years,” wrote Paul Glastris in the Washington Monthly.

meanwhile, visited several South Side polling places in what one poll-watch
group called a blatant attempt to intimidate Hispanic voters.

            Anti-immigrant crusader Russ Dove
circulated an English-only petition, while a cameraman filmed the voters he
approached and Roy Warden stood by with a firearm in a holster.

Tucson Citizen: Incident “reported to the FBI.” A November 8, 2006, Tucson Citizen article

            16. Waging war all by myself:
Obama may have violated the Constitution and both the letter and the spirit of
the War Powers Resolution by attacking Libya without Congressional approval.

            Obama was well within his
rights as they were simply honoring the NATO treaty in enforcing the no fly
            zone.

            Compared to LYING about
            Iraq??

            Really???

            17. Biden bullies the press:

            Please;

            An exclusive
report released Thursday by The Independent reveals that the White House and
U.S. State Department have launched a fierce battle against the release of a
four-year government-ordered investigation into the lead-up and aftermath of
British participation in a war now widely viewed in the UK as a catastrophe.

            The inquiry,
led by Sir John Chilcot, is believed to take aim at the official version of
events, including misrepresentation of Iraq intelligence, as well as questions
about whether former British Prime Minister Tony Blair engaged in secret
negotiations with the Bush administration while lying to the British people.

            Yet, the
U.S. government is forbidding the release of communications between Blair and
Bush in the lead-up to the war, declaring it classified information and
pressuring British Prime Minister David Cameron to wipe this information from
            the report.

The Independent reports that the hidden
documents “are said to provide crucial evidence for already-written passages
that are highly critical of the covert way in which Mr Blair committed British
            troops to the US-led invasion.”

            Whistle-Blower Points to
Target List in US Attack on Palestine

            .

            18. AKPD not A-OK:

            Since I don’t see this
anywhere but on the right wing list of so called “scandals”, and other right
wing sites I don’t know if it’s true, but did you forget Bush Sr, using the
lobbying firm of Hill & Knowlton, to lie to
congress with the phony Nayirah incubator story when she was really Kuwait’s
            Ambassador to the US’ daughter?

            19. Sestak, we’ll take care
            of you:

            That is the most common
            thing in politics.

            Nothing at all wrong with
            it.

The POTUS IS the head of the
            party.

            From Time;

If what the Obama administration did was impeachable, then Rep.
Issa might want to consider retroactive impeachment action against Ronald
Reagan, whose White House directly suggested to S.I. Hayakawa that he
would get an administration position if he would stay out of the Republican
primary for Senate in California; or call for an investigation and special
prosecutor of the Bush White House for discussing a Cabinet post with
Democratic Senator Ben Nelson of Nebraska to clear the field for their
preferred Republican candidate Mike Johanns in 2006. At the same time, Issa
might want to call for expulsion of his Senate colleague Judd Gregg, who
insisted before he accepted the post of Commerce Secretary in the Obama
administration that there be a guarantee that his successor, appointed by a
            Democratic governor, be a Republican.

            George W. Bush didn’t defend

            George H. W. Bush didn’t

We DO know that critics, including other Republican operatives, suspected Karl
Rove had bugged his own office to garner sympathy votes in the close governor’s
            race.

We DO know that she and
            Lara Logan have credibility problems.

            Prisoner:

            REALLY????

Take it up with Judge Suzanne Segal (appointed in 2002, Bush??)

            23. Gerald Walpin was
fired in 2009 because of a deterioration of the relationship between the IG and his agency.
And the documents also make clear that this deterioration had begun long before
            the Obama administration existed.

Media profiles of Walpin now often
mention his nasty quip at a November 2005 luncheon when he introduced Mitt
Romney, then governor of Massachusetts, as the leader of a state dominated by
“the modern-day KKK … the Kennedy-Kerry Klan,” a reference to the Bay State’s
U.S. senators, Ted Kennedy and John Kerry. Joking about Catholic politicians
belonging to the Klan is always obnoxious, but Walpin was guilty of worse than
            poor taste.

Aside from its ferocious pursuit of
lawsuits against affirmative action, the Center for Individual Rights, where
Walpin served as director for many years, has displayed an enduring attraction
to academic racism, or at least to its practitioners. That attraction led CIR
to represent both Michael Levin, the notorious racist professor at the City
University of New York, and Linda Gottfredson, an obscure University of
Delaware professor whose negative research on African-Americans has made her a
heroine to racial extremists. To finance this kind of litigation, CIR accepted
thousands of dollars from the Pioneer Fund, a foundation dedicated to proving
that blacks are racially inferior to whites and Asians — in short, the
            intellectual equivalent of the KKK.

            Remember Bunatine Greenhouse??

            Whistleblower ‘Bunny’ Greenhouse wins

            Greenhouse, who was the civilian
procurement executive for the agency, objected to KBR using its own cost
projections for a multi-year no-bid, no competition contract.

            She initially objected within the
Corps, and later spoke to Congress about the contract. After she complained to
Congress, she was kicked out of the Senior Executive Service (SES) and stripped
            of her top secret clearance.

Moreover, he just encouraged the kidnapping of All Americans. But you already knew all that–intellectual dishonesty shows up that way. Get some moral fibre and let go of your insouciant approach to life. Moreover…leave your mother’s basement and try and get a job in Dear Leader’s economy.

That’s easy dearie. You remember signing statements, right? Bush signed 161 of them. So far, Obama has signed 27. From WaPo: Obama issued a signing statement contending that the notification requirement was an unconstitutional infringement on his powers as commander in chief and that he therefore could override it. Your “couple of questions” are awkwardly worded. Let me put it in simpler terms even you can understand. 1. There was no law during GWB’s tenure. 2. Obama did not BREAK THE LAW because of his previous signing statement. Read it and weep. http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/bergdahl-release-arrangement-could-threaten-the-safety-of-americans-republicans-say/2014/05/31/35e47a2a-e8ff-11e3-afc6-a1dd9407abcf_story.html

Signing statements don’t trump the law, they are a sitting presidents pet peeve with a law passed. They do not carry an ounce of constitutionality. No, there was no such law under Bush. Yes Obama broke the law.

        • Bunya June 3rd, 2014 at 2:14 pm

President Obama didn’t notify congress in a timely manner? Of course, this is a major, unforgivable faux pas. I’m sure if he engaged in minor, inconsequential acts such as allowing attacks on US soil, instigating war with the wrong country, warrantless wiretapping, torturing detainees, etc., you’d be more inclined to give him a pass.

There you go again, redirecting. Pointing to bad behavior to justify bad behavior is the definition of moral relativism, which is defined as:

a : a theory that knowledge is relative to the limited nature of the mind and the conditions of knowing

b : a view that ethical truths depend on the individuals and groups holding them

            Not at all.

A racist is a conservative who is winning an argument with a liberal; right after the liberal runs out of talking points.
Liberals always label people they disagree with. If you’re for traditional marriage, they call you a homophobe. If you point out that an Islamic radical blew up innocent people in a market; and the moderate Muslims didn’t denounce it, you’re called a Islamophobe. You disagree with Obama’s failed policies, you’re a racist, and of course, when one of those labels don’t fit, then you’re a bigot.

A racist is a conservative who is winning an argument with a liberal; right after the liberal runs out of talking points.

            ______

A CONSERVATIVE racist is someone who engages in all the racist rhetoric I have posted before, (want more? I have pages), while contributing nothing to the policy argument.

You want to bash homosexuals and deny them the same rights as you enjoy, but no one better DARE call you a homophobe.

You want to pummel anyone who points out the support of radical Islam as a hedge against socialist secular governments over the past 60 years, while trashing moderate muslims, and ignoring their denouncement of terrorism, again, shall I post the pages and pages of denouncements I have?) , while establishing an entire market dedicated to pandering to the THEIR religion is bad OUR religion is good, but no one better DARE call you an Islamophobe.

            You want to engage in an entire industry promoting the race based, Obama is not one of us, to flat out overt racism, with no substantive policy differences;

Again, YOUR side called Cap and Trade, “market solutions” when Bush Sr promoted it, and “Cap and Tax” when Obama, seeking a bipartisan solution, promotes it as a Republican idea that worked for sulfur dioxide, that will work for carbon emissions, YOUR side sponsors bill remarkably like the ACA, yet acts as though NOW it is the most radical.

Everything you whine about Obama, was done to much greater degrees by Bush, but then YOU questioned the patriotism of anyone who questioned Bush.

YOUR side is the one who follows the Newt Gingrich 1996 GOPAC memo, Language; A Key Mechanism of Control, telling you to use all the words and phrases that have become part of your routine repertoire… then you call liberals “lemmings” and sheep.

I’m sorry, but you show once again that almost EVERYTHING the right accuses the left of is EXACTLY what THEY are doing.

Neurotic projection is perceiving others as operating in ways one unconsciously finds objectionable in yourself.

LOL, your circular discussion makes Reason and Logic absolutely stare. They are called all those epitaphs because YOUR side calls them such.

Dude, take a logic course or some STEM classes–but stay away from those Grievance Studies courses.

          • TiredOfThemAll June 4th, 2014 at 6:39 am

Do you have ANY idea what you are talking about?

They are called “those epitaphs” because YOUR side says things like ‘it is good politics to oppose the black guy in the White House”.

You rarely get to claim policy differences when YOUR side called Cap and Trade, “market solutions” when Bush Sr promoted it, and “Cap and Tax” when Obama, seeking a bipartisan solution, promotes it as a Republican idea that worked for sulfur dioxide, that will work for carbon emissions, while saying things like;Montana Chief U.S. District Richard Cebull, admitted on Wednesday
that he forwarded a racially-charged email implying that President Barack Obama
might have been the product of a sexual encounter between his mother and a dog.

            YOUR side sponsors bill remarkably like the ACA, yet acts as though NOW it is the most radical, (remember , “This president needs to learn to be American”? … Of course you don’t.), and followed by common occurrences like;
Marilyn Davenport, a Tea Party activist and member of the Orange
County Republican Party’s central committee, is drawing fire from people in her
own party after circulating a racist email depicting President Barack Obama and
his parents as chimpanzees. In the email: “Now you know why — No birth
            certificate!”

Sorry, but you don’t get to indulge in empty rhetoric on policy, overt racism, complaining about being called racist.

If you don’t like the epitaphs, then get your party under control.

            Please.

So your side does not have a lock on racism in your country–who knew ? Your comments are pretty rich coming from the party and faction that promoted slavery, KKK, Jim Crow and now subsidizes the quid pro quo “votes for benefits” plantation on which the democrats keep chained most of your Black population. Trillions in your War on Poverty–which was really a war on your minorities–has left them worse off than before.

Racist ? Sir, your party is the very definition of racism. Race is your central focus, what you wake and sleep with. The focus on race in the American left is legend and permeates and colors every discussion.

The few examples you cite are individuals–racism, for your party and the American left, is endemic. So hold that self-righteous attitude and look in the mirror. Lincoln would roll in his grave at your insipid words–if he actually cared.

            _______

            Are you kidding???

Thou dost project too much, Methinks.

            1) The Civil Rights
            Act of 1964;

            Total Votes;

            The House ;

            Southern Democrats: 7–87
            (7–93%)

            Southern Republicans: 0–10
            (0–100%)

            Northern Democrats: 145–9
            (94–6%)

            Northern Republicans: 138–24
            (85–15%)

            The Senate version:

            Southern Democrats: 1–20
            (5–95%)

            Southern Republicans: 0–1
            (0–100%)

            Northern Democrats: 45–1
            (98–2%)

            Northern Republicans: 27–5
            (84–16%)

LBJ told Kennedy aide Ted Sorenson that “I know the risks are great and we might lose the South, but those sorts of states may be lost anyway.”

Then the most of those racist Democrats, (who were Democrats because the end of slavery damaged the economy of the south, and FDR’s policies did a lot to restore it), became Republicans, the “Southern Strategy” was born and the South
has been solidly Red ever since, and now the party of Lincoln and Union has become the party of Lincoln’s assassin and secession.

            2) Sir??

I am a woman. See what happens when you assume?

            3) Re; “plantation on which the democrats keep chained most of your Black population.”

So basically, you assume that the Black population is easily fooled into remaining on a “plantation”, and is too stupid to know with which party their best interests lie,…. but YOU know what is best for them.

            And you call us racists?

Racist ? Sir, your party is the very definition of racism. Race is your central focus, what you wake and sleep with. The focus on race in the American left is legend.

            3) The few examples I cite are mostly elected and other party officials, and I have tons more.
            Want to see them???

          • EstebanCafe June 4th, 2014 at 1:37 pm

Madam, from whence come your numbers ? Here is my citation; and yours ?

            http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Civil_Rights_Act_of_1964

            1) By party. Notice the % of democrats who resisted this act. It is as I stated: the party of racism. I’m curious why you resist history in this matter ? It remains as it has been taught across the world…why the sudden revisionism ?

            The original House version:[19]
            Democratic Party: 152–96 (61–39%)
            Republican Party: 138–34 (80–20%)

            Cloture in the Senate:[20]
            Democratic Party: 44–23 (66–34%)
            Republican Party: 27–6 (82–18%)

            The Senate version:[19]
            Democratic Party: 46–21 (69–31%)
            Republican Party: 27–6 (82–18%)

The Senate version, voted on by the House:[19]
            Democratic Party: 153–91 (63–37%)
            Republican Party: 136–35 (80–20%)
            2. Your Blacks vote 90% + for your democrat party. If Whites voted for Republicans you would consider it racist.

          • TiredOfThemAll June 4th, 2014 at 2:20 pm

            1) My source is wiki.

What you are missing is that most of the difference between the Democrats and the Republicans was the South where Republicans made up only 10.6% of the House and 4% of the Senate, (one Republican senator from the South). They are now mostly Republicans.

A higher percentage of Northern Democrats voted for it as well.

            2) What is a “democrat party”?

Is your knowledge of nouns v adjectives as limited as your knowledge history?

Or is that an example of the obedient repetition of pre approved right wing terminology?

Why wouldn’t 90% of “My blacks” vote for Democrats?

Through Democrats they got equal protection under the law, the right to vote, (along with federal protection), the right to organize, the right to attend school, a better shot at equal opportunity.

And I think it is YOUR Your quid pro quo ‘benefits for votes’ scam is resoundingly accepted.

The corporate welfare queens give money, and get the benefits.

            3) I have cited many. If you doubt them, look it up.

            For example; Florence SC Republican
Rep. Kris Crawford said Thursday he was telling a group of doctors the fight
over Medicaid was a political one. “it is good politics to oppose the black guy in the White House”

Google what the other side says is what I do all the time , just in case.

            4) What happened to Mr. King’s ‘content of character’ over race????

YOU guys trampled it into the ground on Tuesday, November 4, 2008.

          • EstebanCafe June 4th, 2014 at 2:41 pm

Sorry, I could not find your (revisionist ?) numbers in wiki–I gave you my citation, please provide yours.

They are both your “democrat party” and “your Blacks” because it is “your” country–not mine. And of course Blacks vote for the hand that feeds them, kept as they are on your plantation. Why do you ask ? And what kind of party ‘keeps’ them in such a sordid condition and relationship. You have a lot to answer for.

Mr. King foresaw your day. And you. Respect for your president is not accorded him due to his color but is denied him according to his ideas and insipid actions. Pure and simple. Yet you never address his stupid moves, only his color–ergo, anyone who says anything against him is racist. You speak in terms of race but never ideas. Yes, Mr. King clearly saw you.

          • TiredOfThemAll June 4th, 2014 at 2:55 pm

My source is the same as yours.

You just left out the part about, ‘By party and region’.

            http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Civil_Rights_Act_of_1964

“because it is “your” country–not mine.”

            I know.

You guys seem to only respect this country and it’s founding principles if you win an election.

As for; “And of course Blacks vote for the hand that feeds them…

Shows a real lack of respect for an entire race of your fellow Americans, (Oh, I forgot, only those who walk in lock step with you are your fellow Americans), which says something about YOUR character.
But that’s all right. That’s what we always say about the corporate moochers with their
tax increment financing, cost plus contracts, carried interest, deferred compensation, subsidies. property tax abatements and grant of public money to private businesses and other welfare checks.
” Respect for your president is not accorded him due to his color but is denied him according to his ideas and insipid actions.”

That’s EXACTLY what WE said about Reagan AND Bush.

We were called anti-American, terrorist lovers and traitors for questioning the president.

And I certainly wouldn’t be talking about Dr King if I were you, but I hope he saw me any my fellow Americans who have moved beyond the racism of the elders that are now the Tea people and that even today draw them now to the modern confederacy, that they call, The Real America, that they want to “take back”.

Madam, your histrionics leave your words open to interpretation as they are neither clear nor cogent. I shall do my best.
I am not American. I reside in Singapore, by way of Uruguay. You previously said something about assuming ?
What would YOU call it to see an easily identifiable group voting in “lockstep” (I like your word) for a single party, year after year, but only incrementally improving in situation, and all at a massive cost to all Americans ? The soft bigotry of low expectations you people employ with that community is the REAL racism. You appeal to the lowest in p
eople and buy their votes in the process.

            I shall do my best.
I am not American. I reside in Singapore, by way of Uruguay

            ______

            That is very nice.

I don’t know, nor do I care what your interest is, then.

My husband is an American citizen who came from India.

            So what?

What I would call an easily identifiable group voting in “lockstep” for a single party, year after year, is a group who is well informed on the issues and know what happens when the other party is in power.

“only incrementally improving in situation, and all at a massive cost to all Americans” is YOUR opinion or wishful thinking.

When MY party has power, they tend to have more opportunity.

Poverty among blacks was 55 percent in 1959 and 41 percent in 1966. By 2009, the rate had fallen to 25.9 percent. For black single moms without a father present, the poverty rate fell from 70.6 and Poverty among the elderly has plummeted. In 1967, about 30% of seniors were below the poverty line. That was down to 13.2 percent by 2008 — a reduction by more than half.

That is why they vote the way they do.

I think it is clearly the Republicans who appeal to the “lowest” in people; fear and loathing of everyone who is not exactly like them.

Again, your contempt for people and your belief that they are so stupid and easily manipulated says a lot about you.

“When people show you who they are, believe them the first time.”
            ~Maya Angelou

            percent in 1959 and 65.3 in 1966 to 39.8 percent in 2009.

          • EstebanCafe June 4th, 2014 at 3:47 pm

Madam, your party has been in power for almost 6 years. Let’s see where America’s Blacks are right now–has their lot improved or gotten worse (you already know the answer):

            * http://america.aljazeera.com/articles/2014/5/22/black-grads-doubleunemployment.html

            * https://www.google.com/search?q=african+american+unemployment+rate+by+age&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=K3SPU_GLCcj6oASmk4HQAg&ved=0CDMQsAQ&biw=1024&bih=707

I can pull story after story of Black unemployment rates since Dear Leader took over. But so can you.

Clearly Blacks are FAR worse off under your party leadership than otherwise.

Let’s get something straight about the soft bigotry of YOUR low expectations and the quid pro quo “benefits for votes” cycle you’ve trapped these poor people into: It is YOU who believes they cannot do without Affirmative Action, EBT cards, etc. It is YOU who thinks they need a hand out–one that traps them into a life of taking.

Me ? I believe they can make it just like anyone else. I don’t know them but I know human nature and they can make it–what ? You don’t ? You think they cannot improvise, adapt or overcome ? Why ? Right, anything you answer will smack of racism.

If you have a child, consider what you would do to him/her were you to carry her most of her life. Her legs would atrophy, she’d never be able to walk, you’d end up carrying her forever. This is the story of the Democrat Party and America’s Blacks. Generations enslaved and trillions wasted. You’re very generous with other people’s money–typical socialist.
Now, having said that, I don’t decry your misplaced charity–or at least I understand it. And this brings us to a major difference in belief between liberals and conservatives: You believe you’re doing good; Conservatives believe you’re holding them back. Whether you know it or not, you’ve atrophied Black’s ability to escape the Democrat plantation. Your leadership has harnessed them to the vote plow–and all for a ‘mess of potage.’

Right now your partisanship is clouding your vision. Later tonight, as you ponder these truths, maybe you will shake off your own scales so you can help Blacks shake off the chains I’ve described.

Your own links don’t support what you say.

And just because you repeat ” quid pro quo “benefits for votes” doesn’t give it meaning.

You show over and over with your fantasies about “these poor people” again and again that you have absolute contempt for them and assume that they are too stupid to know for whom to vote.

I don’t think you know what socialism is anymore than you know the name of my political party.

And by the way, what is the excuse for the poor whites in the red state and THEIR EBT cards??

It’s funny that Gingrich said, that ” black Americans should demand jobs, not food stamps.”, at a time when Iowans were disproportionally receiving food stamps.

Funny that he would not have gone to Iowa and said that “Iowans should demand jobs, not food stamps.”

            That’s the racist dog whistle.

            Perhaps if we could fix the private for profit prison system;

            Although
crack and cocaine are virtually the same thing, Congress has assigned far
harsher penalties to crimes involving crack, a drug primarily associated with
            people of color

            Crack
is the only drug with a mandatory prison sentence for a first offense simple
            possession.

Blacks (5.2%) and Hispanics (4.2%) stopped by
police while driving are more likely than Whites (2.6%) to be arrested.

In other words, Blacks composed 11.6% of drivers
stopped by police, but represented 19.9% of the drivers arrested. Hispanics
were 8.4% of drivers stopped by police, but 11.7% of those arrested. Whites, on
the other hand, are 77% of stopped drivers but only 66.3% of drivers arrested.

People of color face harsher treatment in court.

Blacks are more likely to be sentenced to prison
for the same crime than Whites. One third of people of color sentenced to
prison would have received a shorter or non-incarcerative sentence if they had
been treated in court the same way as White defendants facing similar charges.

Black youth are more likely to be detained than
White youth. Moreover, Black youth with no prior admissions were six times more
likely to be incarcerated in a juvenile facility than a White youth with a
similar history. Latino youth were three times more likely to be imprisoned.

Among persons over age 24, Blacks (11.2%) were
significantly more likely to be pulled over while driving than Whites (8.9%).

Among drivers stopped for speeding, Blacks (75.7%)
and Hispanics (79.4%) were more likely than Whites (66.6%) to be ticketed

Police were more likely to conduct a search of the
vehicle and/or driver in traffic stops involving Black male drivers (15.9%) or
Hispanic male drivers (14.2%), compared to White male drivers (7.9%).

of course not. Congress under B*sh was far more compliant, and literally let him get away with mass-murder.

But under Obama, the shrieking hyenas in Congress will do ANYTHING to hamstring him, even at the expense of national security and the interests of the American people.

      • mea_mark June 3rd, 2014 at 8:31 pm

A repost from another thread but applicable here —

The law was not constitutional to begin with. The law cannot take away the separation of the powers between the different branches of government. If congress wanted the law to be enforceable they should of done their job the right way and wrote one that was constitutional. They didn’t, they failed, so Obama wrote a signing statement when he signed it stating that if time was of the essence he would act accordingly. It is the presidents job to make quick decisions when quick decisions are required. It is what the president is supposed to do.

In the first seven-plus years of war in Afghanistan (October 2001 – December 2008) we lost 630 U.S. soldiers. In early 2009, the Obama administration authorized the implementation of the COIN (Counter-Insurgent) strategy, more focused on “winning hearts and minds” than winning a war, and over the next five years, the U.S. death toll nearly tripled.

Seventy-three percent of all U.S. deaths in Afghanistan have taken place since 2009. In the first seven plus years of war in Afghanistan, 2,638 U.S. soldiers were wounded in action. In the next forty-five months (2009 – 2012) an additional 15,036 suffered the same fate.

The current POTUS is the problem with America. Releasing the Afghans in trade for a traitor, is bargaining with terrorists. PLUS, it’s all a diversion from the VA fiasco. Slight of hand takes the heat of our miserable president.

Give me a break! You clowns will use any/every opportunity to bash the president with unsubstantiated RW crapola talking points. In case you forgot, the VA fiasco was a huge problem under Dubya’s administration. You didn’t notice it because the media was too busy distracting the public with stories of fictitious WMD’s and “smokin’ gun/mushroom cloud” scenarios.

      • Bob Waas Sr. June 3rd, 2014 at 6:22 pm

Liberal SOP. Point to other bad decisions to justify another. The liberals have been carrying on about Bush 43 decisions 5 years after he left office, but applaud Obama for making those same bad decisions again.
You brag that Clinton had a balanced budget and surplus (while GOP held majority in Congress), yet Obama didn’t copy anything Clinton did…Why?
You keep making excuses for Obama when the evidence shows that he didn’t learn anything from history, or specifically those things he railed against.
Now the evidence is showing that Obama freed 5 high level terrorists for a deserter that may be responsible for the death of several soliders who were sent to find him.

        • Bunya June 4th, 2014 at 10:27 am

I’m no apologist for Obama, given that he failed to pursue the last administration for war crimes and crimes against humanity. Clinton also didn’t pursue alleged wrongdoing by the Reagan administration. I’ll be the first to admit the democrats have no spine when it comes to political payment. Not so the GOP. They were willing to embarrass this country by spending taxpayer money to investigate a BJ.
But more to the point, do you have any proof that Bergdahl is a deserter or do you always trash our troops at every opportunity? Do you have any proof that the freed “terrorists” were responsible for any deaths? I didn’t think so.
Run along now Bob. Remember, there’s only 5 months left before the “war on Christmas” heats up again. You’d better get started planning your “attack” on those godless heathens.

          • Bob Waas Sr. June 4th, 2014 at 12:08 pm

Are you calling the men from Bergdahl’s troop liars? I’m using eye witness accounts to conclude that Bergdahl is less than the hero Susan Rice paints him out to be.

It is sad the left doesn’t find it reprehensible for the POTUS to disgrace the office of president by having an affair with an intern in the Oval office, and then lying about it. Then you go on to say the GOP embarrassed the USA by investigating. You have totally lost your moral guidance system.

As for proof that the terrorists who you are so quick to defend, committed any murders, makes me want to ask; “why were they captured?” Perhaps it was for running a lemonade stand without a license. “According to a 2008 Pentagon dossier on Guantanamo Bay inmates, all five men released were considered to be a high risk to launch attacks against the United States and its allies if they were liberated.”
It is funny that the cry to release Gitmo prisoners was from the left and after Bush did so they criticized him when it showed the recidivism rate was what the objectors projected.
If you want Christians to be silent about the attack against Christmas, we will do so when you show the same hostility towards Islam, Judaism, Hindu and all the rest. I have an even better idea; how about we only allow decorations on public land that have been designated as a national holiday. It will take all the debate out of the subject.

          • Bunya June 4th, 2014 at 12:33 pm

            “I’m using eye witness accounts…”
And I’m saying wait until the facts come in before trashing one of our soldiers on “something you heard”

“It is sad the left doesn’t find it reprehensible…”
And I find it reprehensible that you think a BJ is a more serious offense than war crimes and crimes against humanity.

            “why were they captured?”
They were captured on SUSPICION of terrorism. They weren’t convicted of anything.

“If you want Christians to be silent about the attack against Christmas…”
First of all, the United States is a secular country (you can find the definition of “secular” in the dictionary). Second of all, you so-called christians started this annual fictitious war on Christmas. Not the Muslims, not the Jews, not the Hindus. Seems the Christians are the only folks who harbor an inferiority complex, and one can only help himself in cases like this..

          • Bob Waas Sr. June 4th, 2014 at 6:04 pm

America wasn’t a secular country until secular progressive liberals declared it to be so. It was founded on Judeo-Christian beliefs. If you don’t think so, please explain how we recognize Christmas as a national holiday. How come God, Judge, Creator is mentioned so often in our founding documents?
You may want to read Principles of Liberty in our Founding Documents http://www.nccs.net/2009-11-principles-of-liberty-in-our-founding-documents.php

Here is some evidence for America’s Christian Heritage: http://toptenproofs.com/article_christianheritage.php

Further evidence that our founding fathers did not want God left out when forming our great nation is every state mentions God in their preamble to their constitution. http://www.truthorfiction.com/rumors/g/god-constitutions.htm#.U4-NxelOXmQ
The God they reference is the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and is the same God worshipped by Christians and Jews; and not a god worshipped by any of the other religions of the world.

          • arc99 June 4th, 2014 at 6:34 pm

None of your references have the force of law. Only one document, the United States Constitution carries the force of law, and in that document, the word “god” does not appear in any article, amendment, or section upon which our laws are based.

A document that makes no mention whatsoever of god, and references religion only to emphasize that all beliefs are equal under the law, is about as secular as it gets.

          • Guest June 4th, 2014 at 8:46 pm

We weren’t talking about the force of law. We were talking about the moral guidelines that were followed in the forming of the country. For the record, I don’t personally know any Christians or Jews who want the government to endorse a particular religion.

All one has to do is look at countries where that is the norm (Islamic nations) and you would have to be crazy to want any religion to be the governing body. The founding fathers escaped from British rule where they didn’t have religious freedom. The Constitution clearly prohibits the making of any law respecting an establishment of religion, impeding the free exercise of religion. It does not make the celebration of religious holidays on government land a violation; it is meant as a joyful time available to all who choose to participate. Obama and presidents before him host an end to Ramadan dinner and I don’t hear the ACLU complaining. However, if a town has as a symbol in their documents of an image of a cross that has been in place from their inception the atheist and ACLU sue to have it removed.

Perhaps you missed this explanation: “There is a notion today that the Declaration of Independence is not really a part of American jurisprudence and that the principles contained therein cannot be referred to as a basis of American law. This line of thought is usually concluded by saying that if a principle cannot be found in the Constitution, such as a belief in a Creator, it is not part of American culture or law. This idea is blatantly false. The Declaration of Independence has been repeatedly cited by the Supreme Court as part of the fundamental law of the United States of America . and to enlighten you on the ACLU

            http://gazette.com/article/105986

The American Civil Liberties Union of Colorado said Thursday it opposes Colorado Springs School District 11’s decision to bar students from wearing the rosary outside their shirts during school hours.

“The First Amendment protects the right of students to express their faith by wearing crosses, rosaries and religious symbols without interference from school officials,” said Mark Silverstein, ACLU legal director.

First he posts a Wikipedia page listing the colleges attended by all the US presidents and the degrees they received, and he says that President Obama’s name wasn’t in it. I think he must have a severe psychological aversion to Barack Obama’s name, because it was actually listed FIVE TIMES.

Now he claims that arc99 says that the Declaration of Independence has the force of law, which is exactly OPPOSITE of what arc99 meant in asking the question he did.

Then he makes a racially-charged comment, implying that Black people are stupid. His bigotry is transparent.

However, if a town has as a symbol in their documents of an image of a cross that has been in place from their inception the atheist and ACLU sue to have it removed.

            _______

The ACLU has gone to bat for a lot of Christians.

Here’s about 1% of the list, one only has to google to link
            to the cases.

The ACLU of Southern California (2008) filed suit on behalf of
members of a faith-based charity organization after park rangers threatened to
arrest the members for serving hot meals and distributing Bibles to the
            homeless on Doheny State Beach.

The ACLU of Louisiana (2008) filed a brief before the U.S. Court of
Appeals for the Fifth Circuit supporting an individual’s right to quote Bible
verses on public streets in Zachary, Louisiana.

The ACLU of Wisconsin (2007) filed a friend-of-the-court brief
arguing that individual pharmacists should be able to refuse to fill
prescriptions that violate their religious scruples, provided that patients can
obtain prescriptions from willing providers in a safe and timely manner.

The ACLU of New Jersey (2007) defended the right of an elementary school
student who was prohibited from singing “Awesome God” in a voluntary,
after-school talent show for which students selected their own material. The
ACLU submitted a friend-of-the-court brief. After a favorable settlement was
reached for the student, the federal lawsuit was dismissed.

The ACLU of Louisiana (2006) prevailed in its lawsuit defending the
right of a Christian man to exercise his religious and speech rights by
protesting against homosexuality in front of a Wal-Mart store with a sign that
read: “Christians: Wal-Mart Supports Gay Marriage and Gay Lifestyles.
            Don’t Shop There.”

The ACLU of Nevada (2006) defended the free exercise and free speech
rights of evangelical Christians to preach on the sidewalks of Las Vegas. When
the County government refused to change its unconstitutional policy, the ACLU
            filed suit in federal court.

            ACLU
            Cases Defending Religious Freedom

The ACLU of Southern California (2008) filed
suit on behalf of members of a faith-based charity organization after park
rangers threatened to arrest the members for serving hot meals and distributing
Bibles to the homeless on Doheny State Beach.

The ACLU of Louisiana (2008) filed a brief before the U.S. Court of
Appeals for the Fifth Circuit supporting an individual’s right to quote Bible
verses on public streets in Zachary, Louisiana.

The ACLU and the ACLU of Texas(2008) filed a friend-of-the-court
brief in the Texas Supreme Court in support of mothers who had been separated
from their children by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services
(DFPS). The DFPS seized more than 450 children from their homes in Eldorado,
Texas following vague allegations about child abuse by some members of the
Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. While fully
supporting the state’s commitment to protecting children from abuse, the ACLU
argued that Texas law and the U.S. Constitution required that the children be
returned unless the state could provide the requisite evidence of abuse.
Neither Texas law nor the U.S. Constitution allows the state to separate
children and their parents based on purported cultural harm alone or on the
state’s disapproval of the families’ religious beliefs. In May 2008, the Texas
Supreme Court unanimously ruled, consistent with the ACLU position, that the
state must return the children to their homes pending further investigation of
            allegations of abuse.

The ACLU of Florida (2007) argued in favor of the right of Christians
to protest against a gay pride event held in the City of St. Petersburg. The
City had proposed limiting opposition speech, including speech motivated by
religious beliefs, to restricted “free speech zones.” After receiving
the ACLU’s letter, the City revised its proposed ordinance.

The ACLU of Oregon (2007) defended the right of students at a private
religious school not to be pressured to violate their Sabbath day by playing in
a state basketball tournament. The Oregon School Activities Association scheduled
state tournament games on Saturdays, the recognized Sabbath of students and
faculty of the Portland Adventist Academy. The ACLU argued that the school’s
team, having successfully made it to the tournament, should not be required to
violate their religious beliefs in order to participate.

          • TiredOfThemAll June 4th, 2014 at 6:38 pm

America was founded as a secular nation.

“The purpose of separation of church and state is to
keep forever from these shores the ceaseless strife that has soaked the soil of Europe in blood for centuries.”

-Madison 1803 letter objecting use of gov. land for churches

We recognize Christmas because in 1870, an Illinois representative introduced to the House of Representatives a bill to declare several days federal holidays. The bill’s language was approved by the House and the Senate, and signed into law by President Ulysses S. Grant in late June 1870. It included Jan. 1, July 4, Thanksgiving Day and Dec. 25 as holidays.

If you read the language of the bill, it’s clear that Congress chose dates commonly celebrated as holidays by the American people, not for religious reasons but because of a history of recognition and celebration on those dates.

Much of what you call Judeo Christian were also in the Bhagavad Gita and the Code of Hammurabi.

Actually, of the 10 commandments, the only one we do not adopt as law are the ones pertaining to religion.

I’m not sure what war crimes you are talking about, or crimes against humanity, but it is sad that your morals don’t define what Clinton did as reprehensible and a disgrace to the office of the POTUS. Is that the new standard for behavior we should expect of our leaders? Weren’t you one of those who thought it was disgusting when Senator Craig was arrested for tapping his foot in a rest room stall? If was far from what Clinton did.

The terrorists were captured on the battle field and were engaged in an activity designed to kill Americans. You’re in the majority with this one. Even Obama said it is possible that they could get back in the field. In case you missed the headlines.

“Obama admits that Taliban prisoner swap for Bergdahl could put Americans in danger”

The President defended his decision to swap five terrorists from Guantanamo Bay to free Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl. But he also acknowledged that the Taliban fighters could once again engage in efforts that are detrimental to U.S. security.

As for Benghazi, I’m sure you have solid proof that it’s one big coverup because it would reveals something the administration doesn’t want known. Riiiiiight. And I’m sure the American taxpayer doeesn’t mind spending millions investigating Darryl Issa’s (and the GOP in general) wet dream.
Now who’s being naive? And it’s comforting to know that you’ve taken notice of the president’s skin color. It makes all your accusations seem so much more… plausible.

          • EstebanCafe June 4th, 2014 at 3:00 pm

Wow, right to race again, eh ? To focus so much on race would make someone, wait for it: Racist. Congrats, you’re a typical American Leftist: unable to see yourself in your own accusation.

You still do not address the “video” excuse, why ? Because it is so laughable that not even you believe that. Hold. DO you believe it ?? Now we drill down on whether, as Ms. Clinton once stated, you can “suspend your disbelief” enough to endorse the Vid scam or not. Are you so craven as to support what you know is crap for the sake of partisanship, or will you disown it and her with it ? C’mon Bunnya, let’s hear you endorse that tripe. Try not equivocate, a simple “Yes I believe it !” or “No, I don’t believe it, here’s why I think she’s saying that” will suffice.

Why the red herring of Bush and Cheney–they are in no way related to your president’s latest debacle. He’s just keeps giving one after another.

          • Bunya June 4th, 2014 at 3:37 pm

“Wow, right to race again, eh ?”
You’re the one bringing up the president’s race. Remember? You called him a “BLACK moron”. Now why did you find it necessary to express the fact that he was black? Did you think that, after 6 years, We didn’t notice?

“You still do not address the ‘video’ excuse, why ?”
So? It doesn’t matter what I think about Ms Clinton or what she meant. Where’s your proof? You RWNJ’s love to go on, ad naueium, about Benghazi and are forever coming up empty-handed. Speculation does not create fact. I’ll make you a deal. When you produce concrete evidence that this president is “hiding something” or there is some whacko conspiracy thing going on here, let me know and I’ll issue a formal apology. I’m not holding my breath.

“Why the red herring of Bush and Cheney…”
You’re the one that brought up 9/11. Do you suffer from Alzheimer’s disease? I only ask because you can’t seem to remember what you said two minutes earlier.

          • EstebanCafe June 4th, 2014 at 3:55 pm

Bunnya, I thought IQ’s may have dropped since the last time I was in USA–don’t try and single handedly prove it. I’ll note your intellectual dishonesty and try to overlook it this time, but please try and keep up.

I preface president with “Black” because that is the supposed bullet-proof protection against criticism of his stupid moves. YOU are the one who keeps bringing up race then decrying it when I use the same term.

Ms. Clinton matters as she is likely to be your next president–please don’t act coy and dense–it’s not becoming. If you can help it, I mean.

When your president and his administration put everyone related to Benghazi under a gag order one must ask why. Your lack of curiosity in this matter bespeaks your partisanship…or lack of intelligence.

          • Bunya June 4th, 2014 at 4:35 pm

You have only mindless allegations that you’re throwing out as “proof”, and you accuse me of intellectual dishonesty. I’m not surprised really. I’ve come to expect that type of response from conservatives who have no case.
I’d like you to point out one instance where I’ve thrown out the race card. Again you create accusations and pass them off as proof. You apparently have no shame – or credibility for that matter.
Once again, you have no cogent response to legitimate questions so you resort to ad hominem attacks. Typical.
When people like Darryl Issa keep requesting proof to verity the proof he already possesses, speaks volumes as to the actual reason he’s keeping this dead horse on life support. Your failure to provide actual proof in this matter, relying solely on heresay, proves your lack of intelligence and gullibility.

          • EstebanCafe June 5th, 2014 at 1:21 am

“Mindless” ? LOL. I hope you’re not representative of the Left in your country, but I despair that you are. Sir, when your ‘team’ puts everyone under a gag order you have no call to demand ‘proof’ that cannot be forthcoming due to said gag order. Yet you still remain strangely incurious about WHY there is a gag order–especially if the Benghazi murders are due to a simple video…then why the gag order ? Start asking some questions–and don’t remain a “mindless” drone.

          • Bunya June 5th, 2014 at 10:16 am

Why are you here posting mindless nonsense? If you are so certain that the president is “hiding something”, then work to unearth this fictitious evidence instead of criticizing those that don’t understand, and have no inclination to understand, your tinfoil hat conspiracy theories.

          • EstebanCafe June 4th, 2014 at 2:03 pm

So you recognized the “empty head” comment ? Good, it’s not so empty as I thought. I apologize.

      • barack obama June 4th, 2014 at 9:38 pm

Yeh. It’s all Bush’s fault. Obama is pure as the driven snow, and anything that goes wrong when Obama is president is Bush’s fault. Obama can do no wrong because Bush was the antichrist, and at worse Obama is just an innocent demon too clueless to ever really do anything wrong.

    • Chinese Democracy June 3rd, 2014 at 6:16 pm

Yes Obama planned it all! He arranged for Bowe Bergdah to be held as a prisoner of war so that he could release taliban prisoners of war to Qatar because Gitmo is shutting down anyway . Allllll in order to divert attention from the VA fiasco.

We should have seen it coming! After all Obama did the same thing when he time traveled back in time and planted his birth announcement in the paper in Hawaii.

These black Presidents can be sneaky huh?

      • Obewon June 3rd, 2014 at 6:39 pm

Andy & Bunya lets hope they don’t figure out the only Afghanistan US POW’s “FREEDOM!” is all carefully planned to divert from a consenting 22 year old “PATRIOTS” BJ from almost two decades ago!

        • barack obama June 4th, 2014 at 9:37 pm

Just frosting on the cake for Obama as he moves from one scandal to the next. After ten scandals no one remembers the first 8.

          • TiredOfThemAll June 4th, 2014 at 9:57 pm

Lots of scandals in right wing fantasy land.

But that’s what many people said about Bush and Reagan.

          • craig7120 June 4th, 2014 at 10:06 pm

His slow response to Katrina is the only scandal I will give him credit for admitting that he dropped the ball.

          • Chinese Democracy June 5th, 2014 at 2:21 pm

moving from one scandal to the next aka ignoring conservatives desperate attempts to smear obama at any cost to the country or its people.

I dont like some things Obama does .. I like others. But one thing Im proud of is the fact that he has been able to get so many good things done despite unprecedented levels of conservative obstructionism. You actually think the endless meaningless partisan hearings that go on for ever are going to go down in history as as GOOD thing? please

      • EstebanCafe June 4th, 2014 at 12:56 pm

True enough. But you sure sound like a racist.

        • barack obama June 4th, 2014 at 9:36 pm

If you ever criticize a black person, you’re racist. If you are critical of blacks and are half white, then you become a full white. You need to read the memos and keep up with the talking points. Whites are racist. Blacks are innocent victims of racism. It’s that simple, as simple as black and white.

      • barack obama June 4th, 2014 at 9:32 pm

Obama first planned for the Taliban Five to be released in exchange for a kidnapped Ambassador Stevens, but Stevens died. Al Qaida got a little overly aggressive and didn’t follow the script. Then Obama had to come up with Plan B. Obama took nearly two years to find an alternative strategy, trade the Five for Bergdahl and pretend we even want Bergdahl back. Harry Reid loved it and supports releasing the Five regardless of what we got in return. Obama really just wanted to release all terrorists, but he needed some pretext to do it. Bergdahl was all he had, so he went with getting back a scumbag. The plan was to release all terrorists. Obama keeps trying. He thought getting an American, or someone who was born here would look good. Obama really didn’t think the plan out completely.

Sure, and that makes it right to release 5 more terrorists ? Seems like you’d be pitching a royal fit…but no: moral equivocation.
The left pressures the Bush Administration to release all the terrorists then cries foul when they get back into the war.

    • Chinese Democracy June 3rd, 2014 at 6:19 pm

They where prisoners of war. They have to be released as the war ends anyway.

          • EstebanCafe June 4th, 2014 at 1:59 pm

Madam, I think what surprised them is how quickly the American public has turned skeptical about this deal, because Obama wanted some backlash – he wanted Republicans to make over-the-top criticisms of the deal, so the Pajama Boy platoon could jump on them and start hammering out those “GOP overreach” stories, painting Republicans as political hacks and hypocrites for daring to say a bad word about the rescue of a captive American.

The element that I think blindsided Obama was the negative feedback from military people, who have the credibility to
make the public think about both sides of this trade in a skeptical way.

That wouldn’t be surprising, since I doubt very many people in this White House know, or care, very much about what the U.S. military community thinks. They assumed the troops would zip it while Obama took his victory lap for rescuing the last POW in Afghanistan.

It’s also not surprising that the White House overplayed its hand, sending Benghazi fabulist Susan Rice – who snotty Beltway insiders don’t realize is one of the least credible people in America to informed members of the public – to falsely claim Bergdahl was captured in battlefield action. They’ve even be forced to portray the Taliban as something other than a terrorist organization, to justify cutting a deal with them.

the complete lack of any factual substantiation, e.g.
            “Obama wanted”
            “I doubt”
            “they assumed” is noted.

go ahead and believe in any fairy tale you wish.

Releasing low level “enemy combatants” vs negotiating with terrorist is just a bit different. I don’t expect Obama lovers aka Republican haters to ever be able to understand or acknowledge such.

    • TiredOfThemAll June 4th, 2014 at 6:26 pm

I thought they attacked Benghazi because of a video

      ______

That was what the intel said at first.

Meanwhile, none of the five were facing charges in either military or civilian courts for their actions and when war ends, prisoners must be released.

      • EstebanCafe June 4th, 2014 at 7:18 pm

Hillary’s new book continues to blame the video for Benghazi–on the anniversary of 9/11. “That’s my story and I’m stickin’ to it…just like ah stuck by my man, Billy Bob. I ain’t wore a blue dress since.”

I cannot wait to watch your fireworks come Nov ’16 ! I only wish I could attend whatever debates there are…though I would have to withhold a strong reaction to Hill–“You lie !”–the most likely.

What exactly does she say, because the Senate Committee said it played a role.

          Senate Select Committee On
Intelligence: Intel Reports Linked Inflammatory Video To Benghazi Attack. A Senate Select Committee on Intelligence found that “some
intelligence suggests” an inflammatory video linked to violent protests
around the region led terror groups to conduct “similar attacks with
          advanced warning”:

          It remains unclear if any
group or person exercised overall command and control of the attacks or whether
extremist group leaders directed their members to participate. Some
intelligence suggests the attacks were likely put together in short order,
following that day’s violent protests in Cairo against an inflammatory video,
suggesting that these and other terrorist groups could conduct similar attacks
with little advance warning. [Review Of The Terrorist Attacks On U.S.
Facilities In Benghazi, Libya, September 11-12, 2012, U.S. Senate Select
          Committee on Intelligence, 1/15/14]

          Former CIA
Acting Director Believed At The Time Video Might Have Motivated Attack. Former CIA acting director Mike Morrell has testified that the CIA chief of station in Libya believed at the time that the video might have motivated the attackers.

Also, the NYT investigation, On Sept. 12, 2012, the Times reported that “fighters involved in the assault” told its reporters of being “moved to attack the mission by anger over a 14-minute, American-made video.”

Throughout your comments, you’ve made references to “your president” and “your fireworks come Nov ’16.” Why don’t you enlighten us as to the country in which you reside so we can critique your government as well?

          • barack obama June 4th, 2014 at 9:22 pm

Barack Obama is not a real president. He’s a cartoon character. You may have a cartoon for a president. He’s your president. The still rational Americans prefer someone more real, and less of a joke. Susan Rice comes out on Sundays, along with the Sunday cartoons. The world is laughing at Obama and anyone who thinks he’s their president. He’s your president, if you’re as looney as he is.

      • barack obama June 4th, 2014 at 9:20 pm

The intel first said it was Al Qaida, from the beginning. But Obama didn’t want Americans to think he hadn’t won the war on terror, so he made up a phony story about a film that had never been translated into Arabic. It almost worked. He got caught in the lie. Now he’s doing another lie. Democrat strategy is keep lying until it’s very obvious, then pretend you never said it, it was taken out of context, or it was just a little mistake.

  18. EstebanCafe June 4th, 2014 at 7:32 pm

Time for everyone to take a deep breath. Those of us who believe the man’s a traitor need to await his adjudication; conversely, those on the Left who believe him “innocent until proven guilty” need to stick with that story–and not defend the guy as a hero, as has done their Dear Leader–for any defense of this guy in the face of current evidence will leave you embarrassed.
But we can look intelligently speculate. So let’s do so…with Byron York:

So why did the White House send National Security Adviser Susan Rice to the Sunday shows to claim that Bergdahl “served the United States with honor and distinction”?

It wasn’t necessary. Rice, speaking for the White House, could have said something to the effect that “Bowe Bergdahl is a troubled young man who made a terrible mistake. Nevertheless, he is an American soldier, and the United States wants him back. The president had a difficult decision to make in balancing the release of the Taliban detainees with this country’s longstanding policy of not leaving U.S. forces behind in a
war zone, no matter the circumstances.”

That would not have quieted the controversy over the Taliban trade; critics would still maintain it was a terrible precedent and will increase the danger to America and its allies around the world. And it would not have quieted the controversy over the
administration’s decision not to inform Congress about the Taliban release, as
specifically required by law. Lawmakers — including some in the president’s
party — would still complain about that.

But it would have denied the administration’s critics a devastatingly effective argument. First, President Obama himself appeared with Bergdahl’s parents in rare Saturday remarks in the White House Rose Garden. And then Rice — who had been asked specifically about the circumstances of Bergdahl’s disappearance — said, “He served the United States with honor and distinction.”

In another Sunday appearance, on CNN, Rice suggested Bergdahl had been “captured … on the battlefield” — a claim backed up by none of Bergdahl’s fellow soldiers with him the night he disappeared. The military fully investigated the Bergdahl case in the months after he disappeared in 2009. The investigation reportedly concluded that he had willfully abandoned his post.

Now, top Army officials say there will be a new “comprehensive, coordinated” investigation to “better learn from [Bergdahl] the circumstances of his disappearance and captivity,” according to Army Secretary John McHugh. In other words, Bergdahl served with so much honor, and so much distinction, that he is going to be investigated for possible
    desertion charges.

When wars end, prisoners taken custody must be released.
These five Guantanamo detainees were almost all members of the Taliban,
according to the biographies of the five detainees that the Afghan Analysts
Network compiled in 2012. None were facing charges in either military or
      civilian courts for their actions.

      • EstebanCafe June 4th, 2014 at 8:07 pm

Yes, they did. What they should have done is what many of you on this site have said: “We don’t know yet” to which I would add, “He’s already been investigated; let’s ask him some more questions. If he’s guilty let’s punish him to the full extent of the law.” Which in war time might entail some fairly serious consequences.
Either way, the door is now open. Just as the silly Israeli’s–who forever had a “No negotiation” policy with terrorists–now have soldiers kidnapped a lot more often. This so they can trade 20 at a time. Now your country has gone down the same silly path. Good luck Yanks with your travels…
BTW, the five terrorists were NOT POW’s, there are officially “enemy combatants”–ergo their stay at Guantanamo without Due Process protections.
Let’s mark this post and see where these five clowns show up in the future, ok ?

Number one: I’m not with the tea party. Number two: I would never vote for a woman that lets herself be publicly treated the way her husband treated her. It makes her weak and she sacrificed her self worth by allowing it. At lastly, when will you take the wool off of your sheeple eyes and see what our govt has allowed to happen to our country. You are sadly mistaken if you think that I am laying the blame of the falling of our country at one persons feet. I blame our entire govt. By the way, when you talked to the witnesses that our govt has hide pertaining to Benghazi what did they tell you? I think that you should share that so the public could be truthfully informed. Thanks;)

I am not a tea party member. I am a American Citizen and as such I am tired of other citizens acting like our gov’t is ok and not going down the toilet! When did it become ok for society to start whining like a bunch of babies? when did it become ok for everyone to look the other way when something we ALL know is wrong happens? Can you tell me that? I wasn;t raised that way and I don’t care what party, race, sex, sexual preference, how wealthy or poor you are; who the hell said it was ok for us to look the other way? Hillary will never be president. I don’t think any of these wanna be idiots deserve to be in the gov’t. It is a honor that they have all abused and exploited. I don’t think any of the hopefuls will be president and I think that will be a good thing. And you, chinese democracy, are a fool if you believe anything that the press says or that our gov’t says! The old saying is believe none of what you hear and half of what you see. If desperate equates to disgust then I guess I am desperate for my country. I love my country and have lost family members for this country and I don’t appreciate people crapping all over that because they don’t want to be bothered with holding others accountable even if you do like them.

  21. Jay Faulconer June 5th, 2014 at 9:00 am

I got sent this link from a friend of mine who is a Democrat. I myself would describe myself as just to the right of Center, which makes me a Liberal Loon to my Tea Party friends and a Fox-News-Watching idiot to my friends on the Left. For the record, i do not watch Fox News and would not be caught dead reading something on a site called ‘Liberaland’ if not requested to do so. That said…

I have a problem with the exchange, but admit I might be wrong there. I do not know standard procedure in this sort of thing, and it’s hard to complain about the release of people who have been incarcerated for five years with no trial. The whole Gitmo thing bothered me from the beginning, bush years. if they are criminals, charge and try them. Enemy combatants deserve recourse to the law as well, though understandably it may take longer to do so. My problem with the exchange is minor, the main problem being no heads-up being given to Congress, even a weeks notice or a day, I think something more than nothing could have been managed.

My major problem is how the administration handled it. This guy needed to come home, it is not open and shut that he was a traitor. AWOL most definitely, deserter most probably. Either way, bring him home. But bringing an AWOL soldier home is not something that warrants his parents being brought to the White House. It most certainly does not warrant Susan Rice claiming he was a hero captured on the battlefield. There was zero harm in calling him what he was: An American soldier in enemy hands. Why not say that? Isn’t that enough just cause? Americans died in the days following Bergdahl’s leaving, his fellow soldiers claiming some died specifically looking for him. That is enough good reason for a Commander-In-Chief to keep hands off, and not be caught grandstanding about how he returned the last American in Afghan hands.

For me this Administration bungles too many things, even if only on a small scale. I am not sure anyone in the Administration talks to anyone else. President Obama’s ‘I didn’t know’ answers have worn quite thin with me, hopefully we don’t hear that in this case.

    • Elizabeth Chubbuck June 5th, 2014 at 1:49 pm

THis has been a 5 year process, it was not hidden from Congress.

      • Jay Faulconer June 5th, 2014 at 2:28 pm

The efforts to free him have been ongoing for five years but the particulars of this exchange were not revealed to Congress. Urgency was cited as the reason, and may well have been a good one, but in lieu of 30 days even a few may have assuaged the concerns of some members.

          • Jay Faulconer June 6th, 2014 at 2:19 pm

It’s ‘Tea Party’, not ‘t bagger’ by the way. If you are going to try and act superior to someone, act like the more mature party. There are plenty of reasons to question the ideology of the Tea Party, but being one more lefty hurtling insults at them doesn’t address a one of them. It sells to your trolling compatriots but if you are going to engage in a public debate it helps to at least feign maturity.

            April 1
Several Tea Party protest sites encourage readers to “Tea bag the fools in DC.”

Between that, and the teabags hanging off their hats…..

“it is not open and shut that he was a traitor. AWOL most definitely, deserter most probably”.
Here in the USA even soldiers get a hearing. You’ve convicted this man already.
It is completely appropriate to get this man back. If he screwed up, then he gets to face the music. I never thought I’d live to see the day where the was any question whatsoever on the worthiness of bringing an American home from enemy hands.
I am ever so grateful that people like you had no input into the code of conduct and/or military doctrine during my service.

      • Jay Faulconer June 7th, 2014 at 7:47 am

My comment never questioned whether or not to return him, of course we should have, he’s an American. Perhaps you meant this comment for someone arguing otherwise. I did however imply that he went AWOL, since from all accounts, that is what he did.

        • William June 7th, 2014 at 10:26 am

“it is not open and shut that he was a traitor. AWOL most definitely, deserter most probably”
          All accounts?
Oh well then by all means lets skip the hearing .

          • Jay Faulconer June 7th, 2014 at 10:41 am

You seem to be I implying that I am wrong about something I said? He went AWOL , according to those who were there, and it IS a fact that in my opinion he probably deserted. This is, after all, an opinions based forum. If you take issue with people in authority making statements without the support of facts then you would agree with me that it was wrong of Rice to say he was a hero captured on the battlefield. I never meant to convey to you or anyone that my opinion carried with it any sort of legally binding declaration of his guilt. I am merely a citizen with opinions. A government official however should be obligated to present only informationsupported by facts.

          • William June 7th, 2014 at 12:23 pm

” AWOL most definitely, deserter most probably”

How is it that you cannot understand that you have already decided this mans guilt prior to any sort of hearing whatsoever?

            def·i·nite·ly /ˈdɛfənɪtli/ Show Spelled [def-uh-nit-lee] Show IPA
            adverb
            1. in a clear and definite manner; unambiguously.
            2. unequivocally; positively.
            interjection
            3. (used to express complete agreement or strong affirmation): Are you starting your diet tomorrow? Definitely!
You seem to NOT understand the presumption of innocence under our laws.

          • Jay Faulconer June 7th, 2014 at 12:41 pm

Your ability to copy and paste definitions is quite impressive. While you are on a hot streak might I suggest you look into the word ‘opinion’? Citizens of this country have the legal expectation to be innocent until proven guilty. Citizens in this country also have the right to their opinion. In this case both rights are being serviced. In the case of Bergdahl he has not yet been found guilty of anything, or even charged with a crime unless I am mistaken. In my case, I have taken the information available to me and arrived at the opinion that the man went AWOL, since I have seen no one present evidence to the contrary. I have seen a high government official fabricate a more positive story than was the case and written an opinion piece about that aspect of the situation. If the opinions of others bother you to this extent it may be a wise move to stay away from the comment sections of articles you read. Just my opinion.

          • William June 7th, 2014 at 1:36 pm

You didn’t write “opinion”. you wrote “definitely”. Now I completely understand your confusion. Obviously you never served and you know as much about the uniform code of military justice as a pig knows about Sunday.
Now as long as you are on a streak of “opinions” chew on this.
The fundamental difference between desertion and awol, is that the prosecution must prove that the defendant had no intention of ever returning.
The alleged escape attempt would indicate otherwise. (notice I used the word alleged, instead of definitely) as there is no adjudication at this time.
The next time you offer an “opinion” in the presence of veterans, try to be more observant as to the rolling of the eyes. It might temper your “opinion”.

          • Jay Faulconer June 7th, 2014 at 2:38 pm

Perhaps before getting so upset you should read the entire post. I said he was ‘definitely’ AWOL because he was. AWOL is a military term that means Absent Without Leave, and Burgdahl was, definitely. Desertion is not provable without knowing his intent, so the word ‘definitely’ was never applied to that. ‘Most probably’ was applied to my opinion of him being guilty of that due to what information exists. The word ‘probably’ is a nonmilitary term meaning something seems likely, but no guarantee. Things are much easier to comprehend when you take the time to read something all the way through.

          • William June 7th, 2014 at 2:43 pm

Were any of the 500 hundred … COMMANDERS? Like the five just released?

The majority that were released were NOT dangerous people but people at the wrong place at the wrong time.

    • Chinese Democracy June 5th, 2014 at 4:42 pm

so COMMANDERS get released when the war ends . The war is ending

      • Bob Waas June 5th, 2014 at 7:13 pm

        The war hasn’t ended!

        • Chinese Democracy June 6th, 2014 at 1:19 am

True! but the 5 would be released when the war ends SOON.

So why not use the release to get one of ours back. When a war ends both sides get POWs back

Funny how you buy into the Al queda propaganda that the 5 are a big deal lol

          • Ednar June 6th, 2014 at 9:54 am

            Chinese Democracy,

WHO SAID HE WAS A POW… except Obama, the entire left looney liberals & Rice?

How is a man considered a POW when he voluntarily walks into a Taliban camp?

          • William June 6th, 2014 at 1:58 pm

How is a man considered a POW when he voluntarily walks into a Taliban camp?
            And you know this how?
Did the drug soaked draft dodger tell you that? or was it the bipolar alcoholic?. Maybe the “witness” with the bad conduct discharge? Or was it…*snicker*, the fair and balanced network.
When he is evaluated and debriefed we will know, otherwise it’s simply conjecture fueled by your ignorance.

          • Ednar June 6th, 2014 at 3:14 pm

His own fellow comrades say he walked off himself … of his own volition.
Explain how anyone can be a POW if he wasn’t captured in battle?
Rice doesn’t do well on those Sunday talk shows..
& OBooBoio is one of the best charismatic prevaricators this side of Islam.

            PERIOD

          • Ednar June 6th, 2014 at 6:09 pm

            WRONG …. YET AGAIN!

Obama, 1st Arab-American President, not the 1st black
President. Obama is 50% Caucasian momS side, 43.75% Arabic & 6.25% African
Negro from his father’s side. While Obamas father was from Kenya, fathers
family was mainly Arabs. Obamas father was only 12.5% African Negro & 87.5%
Arab (his fathers birth certificate states he’s Arab, not African Negro)

Best bar joke in a while. . .

            A black guy,

            A white guy,

            A Lawyer,

            A pathological liar,

            An illegal alien,

            A Muslim,

            A Christian and

            A Communist

            Walk into a bar.

            The bartender asks,

            “What can I get you

            Mr. President?”

          • Chinese Democracy June 6th, 2014 at 8:28 pm

            negro? ok I get it

          • Ednar June 6th, 2014 at 8:43 pm

            Ohhhh, don’t worry.

I do NOT blame you for your ignorance …. I blame the media.

Once upon a time, there were journalists who WERE REAL
journalists & obsessed with finding the truth regardless who was president

They were non-partisan in their obsession. But
since the invasion of socialists permeating & inundating in our countries
            academia …

our media, our congress, our citizens &
our presidents have had this communist ideology.

The media now fawn over liberal socialist
candidates while excoriating denigrating berating & crucifying all
            Republican & conservative candidates.

They forgive their partisan colleagues &
candidates as easily as they burn their opposition … whom they hold to higher
            standards.

The medias blatant disregard for their traditional role as the
4th estate & government watchdog has endangered America & eroded the
notion of a free & fair press. Their one-sided coverage of President Obama
has shredded Americas trust in journalism by surrendering its integrity &
objectivity, thus endangering our democracy & free society.

Remember when Obama passed a law w/Sen.Coburn
requiring more transparency via public database of all federal spending?

Obama complained of the Bush White House as
being “most secretive administrations in our history” Even chided
Hillary for NOT releasing her White House schedules. Obama has stonewalled info
about his own; legislative, personal health, education, financing, &
            background

The press, usually banging at the door for
candidates to make “full disclosure” is strangely quiet about Obama’s
            stonewalling. Anyone know why?

Isnt our PRESS remarkable? They can find every
            woman

Tiger Woods has had an affair with, their text messages, photos, recordings,

cause of family fights even golf wedge she used on him & the car!

But same press corp cant seem to find Obamas
            BC,

college papers, or anyone who knew him in college, how he paid for it, what

passports he used or how he applied for financial aid available only to foreign

            students!

In re: to Obama 62 million
voted w/o prior knowledge thanks to our press corp & media.

            In 2012, people had a
choice for more jobs with Romney or more poor people & more food stamps
            with Obama.

            Voters did NOT pick
the businessman. Voters did NOT pick the candidate with the “content of
character” … voters picked a candidate b/c of his skin color.

            Three significant historical events have
            been eclipsed by Obama:

            1) Jimmy Carter will no longer be looked
            upon as the worst president in American history;

            2) Richard Nixon and Bill Clinton will no
            longer be recognized as the greatest liars in presidential history;

            3) Clinton’s stain on Monica’s dress, and
what that did to White House in general and the office of the president
specifically, will forever pale in comparison to the stain and stench of Obama.

          • William June 7th, 2014 at 2:11 am

Obviously you’re not an American and not familiar with our due process. Here in America there is a presumption of innocence until proven guilty in a court of law. Nobody can be convicted simply by the rants of a drug addicted radio racist or a cadre of gap toothed scandal monkeys. his fellow “comrades” will have ample opportunity to testify as to what they saw. A court will have a chance to review the evidence. A jury will hear the case and adjudication will be rendered. That’s how it works here in the USA. Oh granted we still have our low IQ sheep that are led around by a news network, but they don’t get to have a say in the due process.
During my 20 years of service I have seen people under stress, drugs and clinical exhaustion do some weird stuff. Up to and including trying to swim ashore from an anchored aircraft carrier.
I’m not sure what you are talking about IE your crotch salute, but it’s your fetish and I guess you’re welcome to it.
Maybe it’s some sort of mating ritual in whatever country you are from.
BTW, a POW is any uniformed person of the apposing force taken into custody. Even soldiers who surrender are considered POW’s.
How do people in your country define POW’s?
It’s obvious you’ve never served in the military, so please avail yourself of the resources on line to learn about our justice system and the Uniformed code of military justice.
I hope you get to visit our country some day. I think you’ll find it interesting that here in America we try hard to recover our soldiers despite rhetoric from drooling idiots on the right.
            Have a nice day.

            William,
Obama, the IDIOTO-IN-THIEF … “CROTCH SALUTED” our flag…. your flag, the one you fought for.
Educate yourself by googling this. He did this several times in 2007.
How does this make you feel? Knowing this muslim marxist miscreant masquerading as the messiah dishonored our flag?

Bowe’s commander’s &* leaders were all together on Fox(Kelly’s File) last night stating none of them would have wanted to be traded for any terrorist.
Couldn’t tell if any one of them were drug addicts as you implied. Are you a druggy?

Your military experience whether true or not makes no difference here.

            My family is also military.
You have Democratic congressmen that are military like Rangel the racist & Murtha(dead) who named an airport after himself, no one uses.

            http://tunnelwall.blogspot.com/2012/07/urban-legend-or-not-obamas-crotch-salute.html

            Urban
legend or not? Obama’s “crotch salute”

Picture of Senator Barack Obama Failing to Salute the Flag
While Others on a Platform, Including Senator Hillary Clinton, are
            Saluting-Truth!

            Summary of the
            eRumor: “A picture of
Senator Barack Obama (below), Governor Bill Richardson of New Mexico, Senator
Hillary Clinton, and one other person all on a platform and backed by an
American flag. The eRumor says that the National Anthem was being played
at the time and that all but Senator Obama saluted.”

            “The picture
is authentic. It was published in Time magazine and was taken 9/16/07 at
an event in Indianola, Iowa where six Democratic presidential candidates
appeared. It was Iowa Senator Tom Harkin’s annual “meat and
greet.” The fourth person in the picture is Senator Harkin’s
wife, Ruth. Not seen in the picture are three other candidates who were
standing out of view on the right side of the platform, Senator Chris Dodd,
Senator John Edwards, Senator Joe Biden.

“At question is what was going on with Senator Obama? His
critics are circulating the picture and saying that he is not respecting the
flag or the National Anthem, especially since the protocol, according to the
United States Flag code, is that civilians should have their right hands over
their hearts and that they should be facing the flag. His supporters are
saying that this little lapse should not be held against him since there have
been plenty of other events at which he has saluted the flag—so it did not
mean that he would, in principle, avoid doing it.

            ….

“An ABC News video, however, shows that Senator Obama did not salute at
any time during the Anthem and that everybody else on the platform did.

            A spokesperson for
the Senator told Fox News that it was ridiculous to suggest that Obama was
making any kind of a statement and that sometimes “he does and sometimes
he doesn’t place his hand over his heart during the National Anthem.”

        Quite the idiot, hmmmm?

        • TiredOfThemAll June 5th, 2014 at 9:21 pm

Obama is right on all accounts.

The al Qaeda core’s influence has been reduced.
al-Zawahiri was rebuffed in his attempts to mediate a dispute among al Qaeda affiliates operating in Syria, with the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant publicly dissociating their group from al Qaeda.”

The other organizations right now – although potentially very, very problematic – are currently focused on the local fights. “Whether eventually they shift to Europe first, then the US, we’ll see. But certainly a potential is there.”

But why let facts get in the way?

Please don’t expect me to buy the spin from far right wing wacko sites.

            As far back as the 50’s Saadat Hasan Manto wrote “Letters to Uncle Sam”, asking why we don’t directly arm the mullahs in Pakistan since we were supporting radical Islam (as a hedge against “socialism” ) over democracy in India;

“Regardless of India and the fuss it is making, you must sign a military pact with Pakistan. Because you are seriously concerned about the stability of the world’s largest Islamic state since our mullah is the best antidote to Russian communism.

Once military aid starts flowing, the first people you should arm are these mullahs. They would also need American-made rosaries and prayer mats, Cutthroat razors and scissors should be top of the
list, as well as American hair color lotions. That should keep these fellows happy and in business.

If this gang of mullahs is armed in the American style, the Soviet Union that hawks communism and socialism in our country will have to shut shop. I can visualize the mullahs, their hair trimmed
with American scissors and their pajamas stitched by American machines in strict conformity with the Sharia.”

You mean, Rashad Hussain also has been an advocate for the protection of religious minorities, and has worked on efforts to improve the protection of Christians, Jews, and other religious minorities living in Muslim-majority countries. He has also sought to combat anti-Semitism by denouncing Holocaust denial and the publication of anti-Semitic materials in the Muslim world. In an op-ed on addressing anti-Semitism in the Muslim world, he condemned the broadcast of an anti-Semitic film aired in some Muslim-majority countries, arguing that Jews and Christians face discrimination and violence in countries in these countries and that “Efforts must be made to ensure that textbooks and television programming in the Muslim world are free from the types of dehumanizing ideas and images that breed intolerance and hate.” Speaking to Foreign Ministers
of Muslim countries at the OIC Ministerial in Guinea in 2013, he also criticized “restrictions on places of worship, including churches and synagogues” as “unacceptable.” He has also condemned blasphemy laws on other restrictions on speech that are used to persecute religious
minorities including Coptic Christians in Egypt, where he visited with an American Coptic leader in 2012.

Or, You mean the one who made the statement; “Muslims Must Stand Up Against the Horrific Attacks Against Christians in Nigeria”??

Before serving as Deputy Mayor, Arif Alikhan was a career prosecutor with the U.S. Department of Justice from 1997-2006. During that time, he served as Chief of the Cyber and Intellectual Crimes Section for the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Los Angeles and as a Senior Advisor to the U.S. Attorney General in Washington, D.C., where he oversaw the national Computer
Hacking and Intellectual Property Program for the Department of Justice. Alikhan holds a J.D. from Loyola Law School and a B.A. from the University of California, Irvine.

            Good.

For all your whining about, “where are the moderate Muslims…”

            THERE they are.

And just because you call him the “Sharia Czar” does not make it true.

Should we call John Negroponte, Bush’s “Death Squad Czar”?

How about all of Bush’s other czars who were convicted felons?

            And where were you when;
Laura and George W. Bush (3rd and 4th from left) with Islamic Jihad frontman Sami Al-Arian (third from right) and family (son, Abdullah “Big Dude” – Bush’s nickname for him – Al-Arian, is on far left).

The problem is, Dr. Al-Arian is the U.S. frontman for one of the largest terrorist-group coalitions in the world Islamic Jihad which was declared an international terrorist organization by the U.S. State
Department and which openly promotes death to Americans. Hijackers on Flight 93, which crashed near Pittsburgh, wore red headbands, customary among Islamic Jihad warriors who take their instruction from Iran.

President of the Islamic Committee for Palestine, Al-Arian headed up the primary U.S. support group for Islamic Jihad, according to “Jihad in America,” a 1994 PBS documentary on Arab Muslim terrorists in America, produced and reported by Steven Emerson a courageous investigative journalist who has worked for the U.S. News & World Report and CNN. “Jihad in America” ?

You screed requires that you ignore many facts, exaggerate others, and make other stuff up.

So … what you are implying is that BUSH was also a Islamic sympathizer … like Obama?

Why did Bush go into Iraq & Afghanistan?

What do you know of the IRAQI LIBERATION ACT?

So … it is ok for us to have Muslims in our Homeland Security?
Is that what you are implying?

Reagan DIDN’T create Al Qaeda … cheap shot, there buddy … a serious misuse of information & YOU DERIDE ME OF THE SAME?

He trained OBL & his pack of terrorists to combat the Russians influence in Afghanistan

So … what you are implying is that BUSH was also a Islamic sympathizer … like Obama?

            _________

            Absolutely.

            Bush went into Afghanistan because;

            1) He had to after 9/11.

            2) The Taliban did not cooperate with the pipeline;

Remember the “carpet of gold or the carpet of bombs”?

Tom Simons, former U.S. ambassador to Pakistan and the most recent official negotiator with the Taliban; Niaz Naik, former Foreign Minister of Pakistan; Ambassador Simons stated that if the Taliban wouldn’t agree with the plan, and if Pakistan was unable to persuade them, the United States might use an overt action against Afghanistan,”

            Iraq???

The PNAC planned that in the late 1990’s (I don’t know if Bush was even in the loop)

Iraq basically took the fight away from terrorism and focused on taking over Iraq, (which ultimately turned it over to the loving arms of Iran.)

Karl Rove and Bush just wanted Bush to be a “war president” for the next election.

            I think that the Economist hit upon the REAL reason for Iraq;

Let’s all go to the yard sale; Iraq’s Economic
            Liberalisation.

            The
            Economist Sept. 2003

“If it all works out, Iraq will be a capitalist’s dream

If carried through, the measures will represent the kind of wish-list that foreign investors and donor agencies dream of for developing markets.

Investors in any field, except for all-important oil production and refining, would be allowed 100% ownership of Iraqi assets, full repatriation of profits, and equal legal standing with local firms. Foreign banks would be welcome to set up shop immediately, or buy into Iraqi ventures.”

            http://www.economist.com/node/2092719

Basically it was an anti- Marshall Plan.

There seems to be a pattern of supporting radicals because they seem more friendly to business, then bemoaning their power, screaming “How did THIS happen? and How did these people get so radical??!!”

As for; “. it is ok for us to have Muslims in our Homeland Security?”

Yes. They are Americans the same as you or I.

            You want a religious test????

            That is anti-American.

YOU think it was OK to have convicted felons in National Security????

You think it was OK to have Christian fundamentalist Jerry Boykin, (who said that Bush did NOT win the election but was put there by God, ) as Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence under Dr. Stephen Cambone, Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence????

There were intel people who warned the Reagan administration that there was nothing to stop the religious wackos from turning on us, after you teach them to how to bring down a superpower.

Not to mention, in the late 1980s, Pakistani President Benazir Bhutto, feeling the mujaheddin network has grown too strong, tells President George H. W. Bush, “You are creating a jihadi Frankenstein.” However, the warning goes unheeded.”

Osama bin Ladin cited Reagan’s cutting and running from Beirut as American weakness.

Reagan traded a rational enemy for an irrational enemy with no forethought.

Sorry …Muslims do NOT belong anywhere in our politics!

When CAIR held a banquet in Fremont, California, in 1998, the Chairman of the Board, Omar Ahmad, said this:
“Islam isn’t in America to be equal to any other faith, but to become dominant. The Koran should be the highest authority in America, and Islam the only accepted religion on earth.”

“Islam requires the earth — not just a portion, but the whole planet” Book: Jihad in Islam, by: Abul A’la Maududi Page 10

            Remember:
The Christian martyr will say: “I will die for what I believe”.
A muslim martyr says: “YOU will die for what I believe”.

          • arc99 June 6th, 2014 at 12:06 pm

and Mr. Ahmad has repeatedly denied saying any such thing.

but regardless of what he did or did not say, your statement that Muslims do not belong in politics is contrary to both the letter and the spirit of the United States Constitution.

Fascinating how you right wingers rant and rave about the Constitution, but are the first to toss it in the trash when it conflicts with your peculiar view of the world

            Article 6

            …….

The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the members of the several state legislatures, and all executive and judicial officers, both of the United States and of the several states, shall be bound by oath or affirmation, to support this Constitution; but **no religious test** shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States.

            Arc99,

I understand …. these are the civilized ways to do things!

But YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND ISLAM!

They do NOT care about our politics!
They do NOT care about our laws!

They only care about their religion!

They will rebel, riot, start a rebellion as they have in present day Europe when they have the majority!

The more Muslims in a population … the more the rebellion escalates!

            None can be trusted!

Their Sharia Laws conflict with our first amendment rights!

Or … are you a Muslim?

No? How about … sheeple like as in gullible?

I am an American who believes in the US Constitution. try it sometime.

          • Ednar June 6th, 2014 at 12:32 pm

Then you are going to be a dead American.

            Sort of like this story….

            Are you a
            Democrat, Republican or Southern Republican?

Here is a little test that will help you decide.

Question: How do you tell the difference between Democrats, Republicans

and Southern Republicans? The answer can be found by posing the

            following question:

You’re walking down a deserted street with your wife and two small

children. Suddenly, an Islamic Terrorist with a huge knife comes around

the corner, locks eyes with you, screams obscenities, praises Allah,

raises the knife, and charges. You are carrying a Glock 40, and you are

an expert shot. You have mere seconds before he reaches you and your

            family. What do you do?

            Democrat’s Answer:

Well, I need more information to answer the question!

Does the man look poor or oppressed? Have I done anything to him that would
inspire him to attack? Can we run away? What about my wife & kids?

Maybe if I swing the gun & knock the knife out of his hand? What does the
law say about this situation? Does the Glock have appropriate safety built into
it? Why am I carrying a loaded gun anyway & what kind of message does this
send to society and to my children?

Does he definitely want to kill me, happy w/just killing me or would he be
            content just to wound me?

If I were to grab his knees & hold on, could my family get away while he
was stabbing me? Should I call 9-1-1? Why is this street so deserted?

We need to raise taxes, have a paint & weed day & make this happier,
healthier street that would discourage such behavior.

This is all so confusing!! I need to debate this with some friends for few days
and try to come to a consensus.

            Republican ‘s Answer:

            BANG!

            Southern
            Republican’s Answer:

BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!

Sorry …Muslims do NOT belong anywhere in our politics!

            _______

You get to decide who belongs in our politics.

Perhaps you would be more comfortable in Saudi Arabia. They believe as you do.

Who cares what some Muslims say??

Seven Mountains dominionism seeks to place Christians in control over the seven forces that shape and control our culture: (1) Business; (2) Government; (3) Media; (4) Arts and Entertainment; (5) Education; (6) Family; and (7) Religion. The reason for this, as Lance Wallnau, the leading advocate for Seven Mountains theology, explained is that Jesus “doesn’t come back until He’s accomplished the dominion of nations.” And the way “dominion of nations” is accomplished is by having Christians gain control of these “seven mountains” in order to install a “virtual theocracy” overseen by “true apostles” who will fight Satan and his Antichrist agenda.

Many would say THEY don’t belong in our politics.

Do you have proof, or is it another urban legend that you guys pass off as fact?

Hmmmm …as long as you avoid talking about their prophet, Muhammad, you are safe.

Who is really out of touch here, I wonder?

I know Muslims that I would trust more than any religious nut jobs, Muslims who support our founding principles and rule of law, and have nothing but contempt for fundamentalist Muslims.

            Well, there you go …

you don’t shi_ite from shinola about Islam as a religion, do you? Islam’s first authority is their totalitarian cult type religion.
Their Sharia Laws are in direct conflict with our first amendment rights.
Their quranic verses say NOT to be friends with NON-muslims. They want you to trust them so they can convert or kill you.

Do muslims today act like Ishmael?
Arrogant, violent, pretenders of peace, recalcitrant, angry & rebellious?

Let’s find out. What does the bible say about Ishmael’s character?

            Genesis 16:12
And he will be a wild man; his hand will be against every man, and every man’s
hand against him; and he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren.

Even IF the whole world became muslim, there would be consistent continued violence.

            Muslims
LOVE & taught to kill, even each other!

by Leon Uris: “THE HAJ” says:

            Dear Uncle,

I wrote to you only a few days ago
and here I am writing again. My admiration and respect for you are going up at
about the same rate as your progress towards a decision to grant military aid
to Pakistan. I tell you I feel like writing a letter a day to you.

Regardless of India and the fuss it
is making, you must sign a military pact with Pakistan. because you are
seriously concerned about the stability of the world’s largest Islamic state
since our mullah is the best antidote to Russian communism. Once military aid
starts flowing, the first people you should arm are these mullahs. They would
also need American-made rosaries and prayer mats, not to forget small stones
that they use to soak up the after-drops following a call of nature. Cutthroat
razors and scissors should be top of the list, as well as American hair color
lotions. That should keep these fellows happy and in business.

If this gang of mullahs is armed in
the American style, the Soviet Union that hawks communism and socialism in our
country will have to shut shop. I can visualize the mullahs, their hair trimmed
with American scissors and their pajamas stitched by American machines in
strict conformity with the Sharia. The stone they use for their after-drops of
you know what will be American, untouched by human hand, and their prayer mats
would be American too. Everyone will then become your camp follower, owing
allegiance to you and none else.”

            No one listened.

No one listened to the red flags sent up when we over threw democratically elected Mossadegh for Anglo Iranian Oil, (NOW called BP).

On one listened to the warnings when we supported the Muslim Brotherhood because Nasser was a “socialist” who threatened to nationalize of the Suez Canal.

Not to mention supporting the Wahhabis in Saudi.

But there is a big market in misinforming people.

I debate them all the time.

Your letters mean nothing to me.

There are three major types of religions in India … among the MILLIONS!

Have been debating them for over seven years on YouTube!

Hmmmm ….the “fruit” of this peaceful religion is on the front page of most newspapers or networks across the globe.

Here is just a small sample.

            Oh please.

            From your sources, what next?

Rosie O’Donnell as an expert on Islam??

As for; “Your letters mean nothing to me.”

So letters from a Pakistani warning you in 1950 that by supporting radical Islam over democracy, because it was better for businesses that we were fostering exactly the kind of rot that is happening?

I know it means nothing to you.

That is why you are so ignorant.

So why did you support radical Islam for decades?

And do you really not think that they also have a collection of all the horrible murders and brutality that happen all over the Christian world and attribute it to Christianity??

Read the English speaking Pakistani papers once in a while. (very different from the rural guns, God and gays crowd).

            Here’s a nice little video for you; (Most of the Bollywood actors in India are Muslim);

Have you ever debated a Muslim?

            SERIOUSLY!

What do you know of their religion?

Below is a link to my YouTube profile page.

I’m sorry. I don’t think you know what you are talking about.

I know you think you do.

Again, I have a family who has had professional, school, neighborly and friendly, relationships with Muslims.

My husband did a residency with an Iranian Jew who’s parents still live in
            Teharan.

You cherry pick the most extreme elements of the most ignorant and backward and want to believe that it represents the whole.

Frankly, you seem to have much more in common with those you hate than you know.

          • Ednar June 6th, 2014 at 8:58 pm

Your excuses are tiresome & sickening, actually.

It is, to me, an implication of cowardice.

You make excuses as they do.

            Answer the question,please.

HAVE YOU EVER DEBATED A MUSLIM, on religion ?
            yes or no?

Try it …. then like a teacher did …. she innocently tried to name a teddy bear: Muhammad & almost got her head taken from her shoulders!

This is a deceptively VIOLENT, bigoted, intolerant religion based on sex, lies & death.

Their deceptive passiveness leads to violence.

            Now…. answer my question, please.

            It’s mutual, I’m sure.

            Go to another country.

Go to India, and talk to people in Muslim neighborhoods.

Go to the Gulf. At least talk to people from these countries.

            Answer your question????

Have I ever debated a Muslim on religion???

I have debated people of all religions on religion, including Muslims.

My husband has told a Muslim friend to “Fv*k your God and his prophet”

            So what?

Do you believe we share the same God?

            _______

I don’t believe in a Christian, Hindu or Muslim god.

My husband said that in Mumbai.

          • Ednar June 6th, 2014 at 9:37 pm

            Who in this

MSNBC alluded to via the picture they posted? I believed Zimmerman DID kill a

            MSNBC also

Here is a history lesson for you.

            Read & learn.

Bill Clinton & Al Gore were absent on the war on terror. They FAILED to respond:

**To the first attack on W.T.C. in 1993
**Cut-n-Ran when Al Qaeda ambushed U.S. Army Rangers in Mogadishu
**Called for Regime change in Iraq when Saddam Hussein expelled the U.N. weapon inspectors. But then, failed to remove Saddam or to get him to allow U.N. inspectors back in.
**Failed to respond to the murder of U.S. troops in Saudi Arabia.
**Failed on the attack of the U.S.S. Cole, American warship, in Yemen
**When two American Embassies in Africa were bombed, Bill Clinton had two missiles fired one went into an Aspirin Factory in Sudan and the other went into an empty
            tent in Afghanistan.
**Refused to kill or capture Osama Bin Ladin when they had a dozen chances to do so.
** All this & they still hadn’t put in place simple Airport Security Measures recommended by his own task force. These measures, if they’d been implemented may have prevented 9/11

In short, the Clinton/Gore response was limp-wristed & supine. But what is worse is that Al Gore refused to concede a lost Presidential Election, thereby breaking a hundred year tradition.
Gore delayed the transition by two months.
Bush had a comprehensive Anti-terror Plan (Clinton/Gore had none) ordered on taking office & did not arrive on his desk until the day before 9/11.

But in fact, the first and last rationale in every government statement was not the WMDs but the removal of Saddam Hussein or Regime Change. Regime Change was necessary
            because

            Saddam was an international outlaw.

He violated the 1991 Gulf War Truce and all arms controls agreements it embodied. Including United Nations
Resolutions 687, 689 and the 15 subsequent U.N. Resolutions designed to enforce them. The last
U.N. Security Council Resolution, 1441, was itself a war ULTIMATUM to Saddam, giving him ‘one final opportunity’ to disarm or else. The ultimatum expired December 7th, 2002 and America went to war three months later.
In 1998, Al Gore and Bill Clinton themselves called for the removal of Saddam Hussein by force when Saddam
            expelled the U.N. Weapons Inspectors.

A clear violation of the Gulf War Truce.
This was the reason Clinton/Gore sent an “Iraqi Liberation Act” to Congress that year and it is why in 2002 the Congressional Democrats voted and authorized the President to remove him.

The entire Clinton/Gore National Security Team, Secretary of
State, Secretary of Defense & the Director of C.I.A. supported Bush when he sent
in troops to Iraq March 2003.

Authorization of use of force bill passed by majority of both parties in both houses is the legal basis for the
Presidents war. Yet, these Democrats betray their own words, actions & our troops by their slanders. The bill has 23 “whereas” clauses justifying the war. Two of these clauses refer to WMDs &12 refer to U.N. Resolutions Violations.

On the very eve of the war, March 17th, two days before the invasion, Bush issued an 11th hour ultimatum to Saddam to leave the country or face war. If Saddam left there would be no invasion. Isn’t it sad the Democrats blame Bush and not Saddam?

If Saddam would have left Bush knew whoever ruled would have honored the U.N. Resolutions.

The argument that Bush manipulated the facts
about Iraqi WMDs to pursue war is false.

Bush acted on the consensus of every Intelligence Agency like the British, French, Russians,
Germans & the Jordanians-all of whom believed Saddam had WMDs. Bush can not be accused of ‘inventing’ their existence, but Gore & the other Demagogues accuse Bush on a daily basis. Every Democratic Senator who voted 4 the war was provided, by the Administration a copy of the Intelligence Report/Data on Saddams WMDs. Charges by Gore & other Democrats are cynical, hypocritical as

Spare me your right wing Horowitz
            propaganda.

            Just even looking at the
            very beginning…

            Clinton successfully
prosecuted the WTC bombers, Mohammed A. Salameh, Nidal A. Ayyad,
Mahmud Abouhalima and Ahmad M. Ajaj, Omar Abdel-Rahman, are all in prison, which is better than YOUR guys.

            Clinton DID respond, (you
guys were more interested in Monica), while Bush’s buddies in Saudi, killed all
the witness of the Khorbar Towers,

            The Cole???

            Really????

Bush appointee Barbara Bodine was US ambassador to Yemen and blocked former
            FBI Anti-Terror specialist John ONeill and his team’s investigation in Yemin;

“The FBI and some White House officials, in turn,
suspected Bodine was too sympathetic toward the Yemenis. The FBI special agent
in charge, John O’Neill, was forced to return to New York after butting heads
too many times with the ambassador.”

            Meanwhile,

On 19 January 2001, the U.S. Navy completed and
released its Judge Advocate General Manual (JAGMAN) investigation of the
incident…… just days, before the new administration. Clinton did not want to
leave the new administration with the same kind of mess Bush Sr left him in Mogadishu.

            As for Saddam… AFTER YOU
guys propped him up and armed him???

            Then decided to come up
with bogus reasons for taking him out at the expense of how many lives??

            If Bush thought that
Saddam was such a threat, why didn’t he run on removing him in the 2000
            election?

            Answer because as the
            PNACers said in;

            Rebuilding America’s Defenses;

“Further, the process of transformation, even if
it brings revolutionary change, is likely to be a long one, absent some
catastrophic and catalyzing event — like a new Pearl Harbor.”

            Rebuilding America’s Defenses, pp 51

            http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/pdf/RebuildingAmericasDefenses.pdf

This was the biggest bamboozle of the American people in history.

            Don’t be such a sucker.

            Horowitz replies:

In 1998, Al Gore and Bill Clinton themselves called for the removal of Saddam Hussein by force when Saddam
            expelled the U.N. Weapons Inspectors.

A clear violation of the Gulf War Truce.

This was the reason Clinton/Gore sent an “Iraqi Liberation Act” to Congress that year and it is why in 2002 the Congressional Democrats voted
and authorized the President to remove him.

The entire Clinton/Gore National Security Team, Secretary of
State, Secretary of Defense & the Director of C.I.A. supported Bush when he sent in troops to Iraq March 2003.

Authorization of use of force bill passed by majority of both parties in both houses is the legal basis for the
Presidents war. Yet, these Democrats betray their own words, actions & our troops by their slanders. The bill has 23 “whereas” clauses justifying the war.Two of these clauses refer to WMDs &12 refer to U.N. Resolutions Violations.

To which I add …. there were WMD’s!

Shame on you for believing a hate monger like David Horowitz.

Clinton never advocated for a air attack of the entire country, a ground invasion and an occupation which is what counter insurgency is.

And we all know that Saddam used the weapons we sold him against his own people.
And Bush sr. was so upset that he said, “that’s a shame” as he flew over.

            You are referring to …

            BUSINESS!

            ________

That was the only reason to go.

            We did.

We stole from the Iraqis when we destroyed their infrastructure, and paid cronies to try and rebuild it.

We stole from US taxpayers…transferred the wealth from the taxpayers to the contractors.

            one tiny example;

In fact, the Iraqi government told our Coalition Provisional Authority that they did not wish the prison to be built. It was not needed, not necessary, and would not be used.

And you can see from these pictures that one of the buildings — the second floor is without a roof. There’s no plumbing, no electricity. No windows have been put in. The roads in the complex are in shambles.

And one of the witnesses today will describe a meeting he attended at which the Iraqi Minister of Justice told American officials of the Iraqi government not wanting the prison to be built.

It was nonetheless built. American taxpayers spent $40 million. And now the Whale, an unused Iraqi prison, sits unused on the desert in desperate disrepair, likely never to be used.

            http://psm.du.edu/media/documents/congressional_comm/democratic_policy_committee/congress_dpcc_hearing47_2008_transcript.pdf

“Theft of such a staggering sum might seem unlikely, but U.S. officials aren’t ruling it out. Some U.S. contractors were accused of siphoning off tens of millions in kickbacks and graft during the post-invasion period, especially in its chaotic early days. But Iraqi officials were viewed as prime offenders”.

The liberals pressured for the release of Gitmo prisoners and then after 28% of them returned to the battle field, they criticized Bush for releasing them.

      http://www.npr.org/blogs/thetwo-way/2012/09/06/160678301/percent-of-detainees-who-return-to-terrorism-after-release-edges-up

      • TiredOfThemAll June 5th, 2014 at 7:49 pm

        1) Where does it say “liberals pressured for the release of Gitmo prisoners”?
        What liberals?
How many were released between 2004 2007?

        2) If you don’t want them released, charge them

        • Bob Waas June 5th, 2014 at 8:44 pm

I said it. You’re one and my liberal brother is another for starters; plus the endless talking heads on the news.
There was a constant cry to release the prisoners because they were being denied their right to a speedy trial.
Actually, they weren’t entitled to a speedy trial for a couple of reasons. 1. they weren’t US citizens. 2. combatants captured on the battlefield may be held until the end of the conflict.
The number released up to 2009 was 520.
If we use the same 28% recidivism rate, then we can expect 1 or more of those released will reengage in the battle. Considering these 5 were high ranking, it could be even higher.

          • TiredOfThemAll June 5th, 2014 at 9:34 pm

I wanted them charged or not brought here at all.

Many of them were sold by war lords and we don’t know who they were.

Some were ordered by the courts to be released.

If we could not charge them, and we did not call them POWs we had no right to hold them.

It
was the conservative Court who agreed.

these 5 were high ranking but none were facing charges in either military or civilian courts for their actions. It remains an open question whether the end of U.S.
involvement in the armed conflict in Afghanistan requires that all Guantanamo detainees must be released. But there is no doubt that Taliban detainees captured in Afghanistan must be released because the armed conflict against the Taliban will be over.

Since when did Bush listen to “liberals”???

          • Bob Waas June 5th, 2014 at 9:43 pm

Bush listened to far more liberals than Obama has ever listen to any conservatives.

          • TiredOfThemAll June 6th, 2014 at 7:08 am

As usual, I think the truth is 180 degrees opposite of the reality.

The Republican strategy was; Obstruct then blame Obama and Democrats for the damage done by the obstruction.

They knew they could count on the fact that it is much harder for the public to follow the positions of Congress over the years, than it is to follow the POTUS.

It was easy to polarize, then say “this is the most polarizing president…”.No matter HOW much Obama reaches out.

As former Sen. George Voinovich goes on record telling … “If Obama was for it, we had to be against it. “He [McConnell] wanted everyone to hold the fort. All he cared about was making sure Obama could never have a clean victory.”

At a meeting at the Caucus Room , Frank Luntz, and senior GOP members worked out a plan on
inauguration day, 2009, to repeatedly block Obama over the coming four years to try to ensure he would not be re-elected.

(At the peak of the greatest crisis since 1929).

Hence, Cap and Trade went from being “market solutions” when Republicans promoted it to anti
businesses “Cap and Tax” when Obama shunned his base and reached across the aisle to promote a policy that REPUBLICANS had supported in the past.

Republicans who had embraced healthcare mandates as “personal responsibility”, called it Socialism, Marxism, Maoism and carried sign comparing it to Dachau.
(See ;1993, Consumer Choice Health Security Act (SB 1743)
Health Equity and Access Reform Today Act (SB 1770))

They filibuster their own bills, while they filibuster Court appointees endorsed by the two Oklahoma
senators (when the filibuster is broke he receives unanimous confirmation).

            Even Leon Hadar from the American Conservative;
In a way, much of what Obama has been advocating on domestic policy is not very different from what a Bush I administration (or Nixon, Ford or Eisenhower) would be doing, ranging from raising taxes, reforming immigration policy, or protecting the environment. Obama, in short, is not a socialist or a even a social-democrat, just a good old centrist Republican.

Once the economy began to revive, Obama offered a $4-trillion debt reduction framework that would have cut $3 to $6 of spending for every $1 in tax hikes. That’s a higher ratio of cuts to hikes than Republican voters, in a Gallup poll, said they preferred.

            http://www.gallup.com/poll/148472/Deficit-Americans-Prefer-Spending-Cuts-Open-Tax-Hikes.aspx

That’s way more conservative than the ratio George H. W. Bush accepted in 1990. In last year’s debt-ceiling talks, Obama offered cuts to Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid in exchange for revenue that didn’t even come from higher tax rates

            Meanwhile;

            BY BRUCE BARTLETT,
            The Fiscal Times
            August 5, 2011

“In a recent column, I argued that Barack Obama has in
practice governed as a moderate conservative.
No doubt, many of these conservatives would say today that they are disappointed that Obama didn’t follow through on his centrist promise. Nevertheless, it’s clear that Obama’s conservatism, which I believe is fully evident in his policies as president, has long been there to see by those
willing to be honest with themselves.”

I have no doubt that if the mentality of this GOP Congress had been transported back to 1964, the Civil Rights Act of 1964 would have gone down in flames because EVERY Republican, (along with every Southern Democrat) would have opposed it, instead of just EVERY Southern Republican and EVERY Southern Democrat…. just to deny the president a bipartisan victory.

It was also Obama’s compromising that caused many liberals to stay home in 2010.

Good information, I’ll have to check it out. I see things a little bit different as a conservative and an Independent, with leanings towards Libertarian.

I have a couple of questions.

            1. Why does Harry Reid refuse to put to a vote bills that passed in the House by a large majority?

            2. Why take from those who paid for benefits as Obama offered cuts to Social Security, Medicare.

            3. Why do they say we are running out of money for Social Security and Medicare, but they never run out of money for Welfare, Food Stamps, and subsidized housing?
            4. Could it be that Obama’s every decision is put to a hard test because of his lack of experience? He never supervised personnel, he had no military experience, he had no business experience, and he never had to personally meet a payroll. In fact, he was never in charge of anything significant, ever.

One might also say, Why do they say we are running out of money for Social Security, Medicare, and safety nets for the poor and working poor, but ALWAYS have money for corporate welfare, especially defense contractors?

            4. Could it be that Obama’s every decision is put to a hard test because of his lack of experience?

~ Obama’s every decision is put to a hard test because they do not want the economy to improve while he is POTUS.
Their own quotes make it very clear that their only goal is to obstruct what the people vote for so that they can blame Obama for the People’s will not being carried out.

Again, these are decisions that they supported in the past.

Bush was a failed businessman and governor of a state where compared to the governors of other U.S. states, the governorship of Texas is a fairly weak office. The Lieutenant Governor of
Texas, who presides over the state Senate, is considered a more powerful political figure, being able to exercise greater personal prerogatives.

Here the people spoke loud and clear in both opinion polls AND the poll that we call the election.

As for those who HAVE….He never supervised personnel, he had no military experience, he had no business experience, and he never had to personally meet a payroll. In fact, he was never in charge of anything significant, ever.

They are the ones who tanked the economy and squandered our blood and treasure.

I’m not sure how showing that Obama lacked any experience got turned around to attack Bush. You claim Bush was a failed business man, yet he made money for his investors. Obama couldn’t fail at business because he never had to earn a living working at anything that produced.

I have many friends from Texas and they absolutely loved Bush as Governor. They didn’t like his spending as president, and neither did I, but they love the man.
Here is more history on the man…

“Bush assembled the group of partners that purchased the Texas Rangers baseball franchise in 1989 and later built the Rangers’ new home, the Ballpark at Arlington. He served as managing general partner of the Texas Rangers until he was elected governor on November 8, 1994. In a historic reelection victory, he became the first Texas Governor to be elected to consecutive four-year terms, winning 68.6 percent of the vote. During three Texas legislative sessions, Governor Bush worked in a spirit of bipartisan cooperation with the lieutenant governor, speaker of the house, and members of the Texas legislature to enact historic reforms to improve public schools, cut taxes, put welfare recipients to work, curb frivolous lawsuits, encourage new business and job growth, and strengthen criminal justice laws.”
What tanked our economy was sub-prime mortgages and the lack of oversight by those in charge; namely Dodd and Frank.
There are many articles regarding the cause for the sub-prime problem that cause the recession and they point fingers on who promoted it and who warned against it.
I lost my money after the dot.com bubble busted. Should we blame that on Clinton? Bush inherited the recession, just like Obama inherited a recession. The only difference is Bush’s policies took us out of it and Obama’s haven’t, even though he through a trillion dollars at the problem.
I’m not sure how anyone can defend Obama as a good leader based on his own work experience and the people he surrounded himself with. His administration had the lowest percent of people with any public business experience in history.

          • TiredOfThemAll June 6th, 2014 at 4:04 pm

I don’t know why you think that someone who made money for investors is qualified to have an agenda followed without question.

            Especially when Bush got contracts (For Harken) that more experienced companies did not, (his dad was POTUS);

A 1985 disclosure shows Bush’s track record: Investors got back only 45 cents on the dollar, but few complained.

Investors also got tax deductions averaging more than 80 cents on every dollar invested. Those early Bush ventures were mainly tax shelters.

When his father was president, there were suspicions that the Persian Gulf nation of Bahrain tried to enrich the younger Bush. Bahrain granted an exclusive drilling contract to Harken Energy Corporation, in which the younger Bush held stock. But he says he opposed the deal.

He also used the government to take the Mathis’s family land in order to build Texas Stadium.

The economy tanked because the get government off the backs of business crowd, the GOP Congress/Clinton and Greenspan stopped regulating.

            Bush said;

Freddie Mac recently began 25 initiatives around the country to dismantle barriers and create greater opportunities for homeownership. One of the programs is designed to help deserving
families who have bad credit histories to qualify for homeownership loans.
The other thing Kirbyjon told me, which I really appreciate, is you don’t have to have a lousy home for first-time home buyers. If you put your mind to it, the first-time home buyer, the low-income home buyer can have just as nice a house as anybody else.

His state is at the bottom in education, wages, health insurance….
            http://georgewbush-whitehouse.archives.gov/news/releases/2002/10/20021015-7.html

            Also;

Not only did the Bush administration do nothing to protect consumers, it embarked on an aggressive and unprecedented campaign to prevent states from protecting their residents from the very problems to which the federal government was turning a blind eye.

In 2003, during the height of the predatory lending crisis, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency , invoked a clause from the 1863 National Bank Act to issue formal opinions preempting all state predatory lending laws, thereby rendering them inoperative. The OCC also promulgated new rules that prevented states from enforcing any of their own consumer protection laws against national banks. The federal government’s actions were so egregious and so unprecedented that all 50 state attorneys general, and all
50 state banking superintendents, actively fought the new rules.

I think Obama has done a really good job under the worst conditions, in the most toxic climate, surrounded by people who are bought and paid for by Big Business in both parties, and an opposition for whom failure is a strategy.

            I think he has surrounded himself with wonderful people who reflect the will of the American people, whereas Bush, surrounded himself with old Iran Contra felons, and those like Cheney and Wolfowitz, who have been wrong for 40 years;

The Committee on the Present Danger (CPD aka Team B) is a hawkish “advocacy organization” first founded in 1950 and re-formed in 1976 to push for larger defense budgets and arms buildups, to counter the Soviet Union.

Team B also claimed that the Soviets were working on an anti-acoustic submarine, though they failed to find any evidence of one. The hawks explained away this lack of evidence by stating
that “the submarine may have already been deployed because it appeared to
            have evaded detection.”

In the 1975, Richard Perle (Remember him?) leaked classified information Bob Novak (remember him?) of Rowland Evans and Novak to leak classified information in the 1970’s – and is now a member of the board of Hollinger International Inc., which owns the Chicago Sun-Times, the home newspaper of Novak’s syndicated column.

The Washington Post that Richard Perle was the chief suspect in another Novak-assisted leak of classified information in December 1975: “Novak, with his late partner Rowland Evans, got the classified leak – that President Ford and Secretary of State H.Kissinger were ready to make concessions to the Soviet Union to save SALTII.

          • Bob Waas June 6th, 2014 at 7:03 pm

I guess I remember things differently. Obama has not had to deal with a GOP Senate, Bush had a Democratic Senate for 3.5 years of his presidency and learned to work with the other side, much like Clinton did.

As for the Fannie Freddie issue. McCain was also vocal about the impending disaster.

“Over the past six years, the President and his Administration have not only warned of the systemic consequences of failure to reform GSEs but also put forward thoughtful plans to reduce the risk that either Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac would encounter such difficulties. In fact, it was Congress that flatly rejected President Bush’s call more than five years ago to reform the GSEs. Over the years, the President’s repeated attempts to reform the supervision of these entities were thwarted by the legislative maneuvering of those who emphatically denied there were problems with the GSEs.”

They did say that, but their actions never matched their words.

            Meanwhile;

Virtually none of the $1.5 trillion of cratering subprime mortgages were backed by Fannie or Freddie.

Most subprime mortgages did not meet Fannie or Freddie’s lending standards. All
those no money down, no interest for a year, low teaser rate loans, and the loans made without checking a borrower’s income or employment history were all made in the private sector, without any support from Fannie and Freddie.

While the credit bubble was peaking from 2003 to 2006, the amount of loans originated by Fannie and Freddie dropped from $2.7 trillion to $1 trillion.

Meanwhile, in the private sector, the amount of subprime
loans originated jumped to $600 billion from $335 billion and Alt-A loans hit
$400 billion from $85 billion in 2003. Fannie and Freddie, which wouldn’t
accept crazy floating rate loans, which required income verification and
minimum down payments, were left out of the insanity

Rep. Barney Frank chairman of the Financial Services Committee, and his predecessor, Rep. Michael Oxley (R-OH) made efforts to enhance regulatory oversight on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, including the Federal Housing Finance Reform Act of 2005 and sponsoring the Federal Housing Finance Reform Act of 2007. Both of these bills called for a new agency to oversee and
regulate Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

You know who also tried to warn about loose lending???

According to 1999 and 2000 reports in American Banker, ACORN was an outspoken, consistent advocate for exactly the kinds
of regulations that experts across the political spectrum now agree could have
            prevented the global economic crisis.

On August 4, 2000, American Banker
reported on ACORN protests at nationwide offices of Lehman Brothers – the
investment bank that went bankrupt last month because of its investment in
            over-valued mortgage-backed securities:

            “Acorn members said they want
Lehman and other investment banks to sign a code of ethics, pledging to adhere
to ‘best practices’ in the mortgage Oakland lending business. Though the banks are not lenders, the group
argues that they provide capital and financial support to abusive lenders by
            buying and securitizing their loans.

‘They have to look at the terms of the
loans they are funding and say they won’t buy or securitize loans with
unconscionable terms,’ said Bertha Lewis, executive director of Acorn in New York.
‘These secondary market players can see what kind of loans these are. They must
refuse to buy loans from predatory lenders.'”

            The law would have
prohibited subprime mortgage lenders from making a loan unless the borrower
could afford it and had obtained a written certification from an independent
credit counselor stating that the borrower had received financial advice, which
was overturned in the Supreme Court of California: AMERICAN FINANCIAL SERVICES ) ASSOCIATION, v
            CITY OF OAKLAND et al.,

American Financial Services, is a trade

          • Bob Waas June 6th, 2014 at 8:59 pm

This is how I remember it.

Fannie, Freddie caused the financial crisis – http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/news/opinion/story/2011-11-23/Fannie-Freddie-financial-crisis/51386932/1

“More than 70% of these 27 million weak mortgages were on the books of government agencies, primarily the government-sponsored enterprises (GSEs) Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.”

Here’s why it happened. In 1992, Democratic controlled Congress adopted legislation that imposed “affordable housing” requirements on the GSEs.

            2001

April: The Administration’s FY02 budget declares
that the size of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac is “a potential
problem,” because “financial trouble of a large GSE could cause strong repercussions in financial markets, affecting Federally insured entities and economic activity.” (2002 Budget Analytic Perspectives, pg. 142)

            2002

            October:
Senator Thomas Carper (D-DE) refuses to acknowledge any necessity for GSE reforms, saying “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” (Sen. Carper, Hearing of Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs, 10/16/03)

            2003

September: Then-Treasury Secretary John Snow testifies before the House Financial Services Committee to recommend that Congress enact “legislation to create a new Federal agency to regulate and supervise the financial activities of our housing-related government sponsored
enterprises” and set prudent and appropriate minimum capital adequacy requirements.

            September:
Then-House Financial Services Committee Ranking Member Barney Frank (D-MA) strongly disagrees with the Administration’s assessment, saying “these two entities – Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac – are not facing any
kind of financial crisis … The more people exaggerate these problems, the more pressure there is on these companies, the less we will see in terms of affordable housing.” (Stephen Labaton, “New Agency Proposed To Oversee Freddie Mac And Fannie Mae,” The New York Times, 9/11/03)

            2004

February: The President’s FY05 Budget again highlights the risk posed by the explosive growth of the GSEs and
their low levels of required capital and calls for creation of a new, world-class regulator: “The Administration has determined that the safety and soundness regulators of the housing GSEs lack sufficient power and stature to meet their responsibilities, and therefore … should be replaced with a new strengthened regulator.” (2005 Budget Analytic Perspectives, pg. 83)

February: Then-CEA Chairman Mankiw cautions Congress to “not take [the financial market’s] strength for granted.” Again, the call from the Administration was to reduce this risk by “ensuring that the housing GSEs are overseen by an effective regulator.” (N. Gregory Mankiw, Op-Ed, “Keeping Fannie And Freddie’s House In Order,” Financial Times, 2/24/04)

April: Rep. Frank ignores the warnings, accusing the Administration of creating an “artificial issue.” At a speech to the Mortgage Bankers Association conference, Rep. Frank said “people tend to pay their mortgages.
I don’t think we are in any remote danger here. This focus
on receivership, I think, is intended to create fears that aren’t
there.” (“Frank: GSE Failure A Phony Issue,” American
            Banker, 4/21/04)

            2005

April: Then-Secretary Snow repeats his call for GSE reform, saying “Events that have transpired since I testified before this Committee in 2003 reinforce concerns over the systemic risks posed by the GSEs and further highlight the need for real GSE reform to ensure that our housing finance system remains a strong and vibrant source of funding for
expanding homeownership opportunities in America … Half-measures will only exacerbate the risks to our financial system.” (Secretary John W. Snow, “Testimony Before The U.S. House Financial Services Committee,” 4/13/05)

July: Then-Minority Leader Harry Reid rejects legislation reforming GSEs, “while I favor improving oversight by our federal housing regulators to ensure safety and soundness, we cannot pass legislation that could limit Americans from owning homes and potentially harm our economy in the
process.” (“Dems Rip New Fannie Mae Regulatory Measure,” United Press
            International, 7/28/05)

2007 August: President Bush emphatically calls on Congress to pass a reform package for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, saying “first things first when it comes to those two institutions. Congress needs to get them reformed, get them streamlined, get them focused, and then I will consider other options.” (President George W. Bush, Press Conference, the
            White House, 8/9/07)

I remember ACORN protesting the lenders to make more loans available.

“I’ve been fighting alongside ACORN on issues you care about my entire career. Even before I was an elected official, when I ran Project Vote voter registration drive in Illinois, ACORN was smack dab in the middle of it, and we appreciate
your work.” — Barack Obama, Speech to ACORN, November 2007

I said everything I have to say.

Fannie and Freddie had nothing to do with it.

This was all Big investment banks looking for low risk investments that paid a good return.

They came up with mortgage backed securities to meet the demand of assets.

            Wall Street loved them.

The demand mortgage backed securities was so high, that there was a point somewhere in 2003 when everyone who qualified for a mortgage got one, and still the global pool of money wanted more.

They figured that by the time they blew up, they will have made their money.

          • Bob Waas June 6th, 2014 at 9:45 pm

I think we wore this one out.
I agree, greedy bankers and the availability of money are the main contributors.
Too many tried to place the blame on GWB and that is what I took exception to because the evidence proves otherwise. It started with the Community Reinvestment Act, a well intended program. It was poor oversight and the Congress’s failure to act after being warned of the impending problem.

          • TiredOfThemAll June 6th, 2014 at 9:54 pm

It started with the Community Reinvestment Act

            ______

            We almost reached agreement.

84.3 percent of subprime loans in 2006
were made by financial institutions not governed by the CRA.

            The
CRA does not cover independent mortgage companies, which issued the vast
majority of the loans underlying the crisis. The act applies only to depository banks and S&L’s
            that are federally insured.

As subprime lending exploded in this
decade, CRA lost its relevance because it doesn’t cover the more loosely
regulated non-bank mortgage companies, which increasingly took the mortgage
market away from banks and thrifts.

            According to
Federal Reserve Governor Randall Kroszner, the claim that “the law
pushed banking institutions to undertake high-risk mortgage lending” was
contrary to their experience, and that no empirical evidence had been presented
to support the claim. In a Bank for International
Settlements (BIS) working paper, economist Luci Ellis concluded that
“there is no evidence that the Community Reinvestment Act was responsible
for encouraging the subprime lending boom and subsequent housing bust”,
relying partly on evidence that the housing bust has been a largely exurban
            event.

In the February 2008 House hearing, law professor Michael S. Barr, a
Treasury Department official under President Clinton, stated that a Federal
Reserve survey showed that affected institutions considered CRA loans
profitable and not overly risky. He noted that approximately 50% of the
subprime loans were made by independent mortgage companies that were not
regulated by the CRA, and another 25% to 30% came from only partially CRA
regulated bank subsidiaries and affiliates. Barr noted that institutions fully
regulated by CRA made “perhaps one in four” sub-prime loans, and that
“the worst and most widespread abuses occurred in the institutions with
            the least federal oversight.

I think blaming the CRA is blaming poor people for the excess of rich bankers.

          • Bob Waas June 6th, 2014 at 10:07 pm

Got it. The CRA was the vehicle the bankers exploited. The main thing is they need to find a balance where they don’t over correct and tighten the requirements so it is too hard to get a loan.

          • TiredOfThemAll June 6th, 2014 at 10:24 pm

I think they did a good job with Glass Steagall.

The bank had to keep the loan and couldn’t sell it.
That way they make sure the borrower can pay it back, because they don’t want to be stuck with it.

          • foxnewslieseveryday June 7th, 2014 at 12:54 am

“The CRA was the vehicle the bankers exploited.”

Find me a banker that says he was forced to ignore sound lending policy by the CRA.

            I’ll wait.

” It started with the Community Reinvestment Act”

Not morally right, but those being held in Gitmo were captured fighting against our troops. They were considered a danger to the security of the USA.
They most likely evaluated the possible danger to our troops when they released 520 prisoners and still, 28% returned to the battle.
The rules of war says that you may retain captured prisoners until the end of the conflict.
If your loved one was murdered by a prisoner returning to the battle you would probably be very upset that he was released.

            FREE
            KITTENS………..Free !!!!

A pretty little girl named Suzy was standing on the sidewalk in front of her
home. Next to her was a basket containing a number tiny creatures; in her hand
was a sign announcing FREE KITTENS.

Suddenly a line of big black cars pulled
up beside her. Out of the lead car stepped a tall, grinning man.

“Hi there, little girl, I’m President Obama. What do you have in
            the basket?” he asked.

            “Kittens.” little Suzy said.

How old are they? asked Obama.

Suzy replied, “They’re so young, their eyes aren’t even open
            yet.”

“And what kind of kittens are they?”

“Democrats,” answered Suzy with a smile.

            Obama was delighted.

As soon as he returned to his car, he called his PR chief and told
him about the little girl and the kittens.

Recognizing the perfect photo op, the two men agreed that the president
should return the next day, and, in front of the assembled media, have the girl
            talk about her discerning kittens.

So the next day, Suzy was again standing on the sidewalk with her basket
of “FREE KITTENS” when another motorcade pulled up, this time
followed by vans from ABC, NBC, CBS and CNN.

Cameras and audio equipment were quickly set up, then Obama got out of
his limo and walked over to little Suzy.

“Hello, again,” he said, “Id love it if you would tell
all my friends out there what kind of kittens you’re giving away.”

“Yes sir,” Suzy said. “They’re Republicans.”

Taken by surprise, the president stammered, “But… but…
yesterday, you told me they were DEMOCRATS.”

Little Suzy smiled and said, “I know. But today, they have their
            eyes open.”

my eyes are open enough to think this is funnier, and much closer to the truth.

“”Donald Rumsfeld is giving President Bush his daily briefing. He concludes by saying: “Yesterday, 3 Brazilian soldiers were killed.”
“OH NO!” the President exclaims. “That’s terrible!”

His staff sits stunned at this display of emotion, nervously watching as the President sits, head in hands.

Finally, the President looks up and asks, “How many is a brazillion?”

Except one of them is suspected in the Lybia attack. The attack that republicans go on and on about how we should have prevented.

      • Ednar June 6th, 2014 at 11:59 am

So… should we have killed them all? ABSOLUTELY!

        Or let them all go?

Bad move to have traded the five most dangerous men for someone who volunteered to be the talibans best friend & snitch!

        P.O.W., my keaster.

Did you know that Nixon pardoned McCain for all the information while being held by the Viet Cong?
          No, of course you didn’t.
Let’s see what you do after being captured and held for 5 years. You’d pee yourself skinny.

Liberals wanted to change the channel from VA scandal to heroic soldier returns home..abort, abort, abort…blame Bush….

    • Chinese Democracy June 6th, 2014 at 4:35 pm

you are so smart! You figured it out. Liberals decided that getting a SOLDIER back would take everyones mind off of the VA

If Bush is to blame for something then why not blame him? Well now that I think about it he was just Cheneys puppet

Why are you repeating verbatim what you have heard just like the other RWNJs?

    • TiredOfThemAll June 6th, 2014 at 7:00 pm

Liberals wanted to change the channel from VA scandal to heroic soldier returns home..abort, abort, abort…blame Bush..

      ______

Actually, it’s the Republicans who did that by having a hissy fit over something that Obama did, that they DEMANDED that Obama do.

Because they filibustered the VA bill?

  24. William June 7th, 2014 at 12:25 pm

America. where a gaggle of right wing Fox “journalist” can change a returning POW from soldier to jihadist in one week.

  25. protectionistt June 7th, 2014 at 3:34 pm

Almost all weren’t released”, they were transferred. Of those who were released, many returned to the battlefield. All the more reason for Obama to not have made this stupid deal. As for the notion that the war is almost over, EARTH TO ANYONE WHO THINKS THAT: Islamic jihad war will NEVER be over.
The ragyheads will continue fighting killing, bombing, attacking. THEY determine when war will be over, and you can be they won’t do that.

  26. Suzy June 9th, 2014 at 3:19 am

I don’t understand why it is different when Bush lets over 500 prisoners go and the republicans didn’t say much about it. I also don’t understand how so many people can’t not understand that soon all prisoners of war will be released as the wars have come to an end. We have always let prisoners of war loose or exchanged them for ours. Even Nazi soldiers were let loose. We don’t keep them until they die. Bush caused all these problems because he wanted to attack these countries. If I am not mistaken not one of the 9-11 terrorist came from those two countries. Also Bush and Cheney received information 6 times that we were going to be attacked and probably by plane and Bush and Cheney did not do one thing about it. Supposedly his excuse was he thought it was to throw him off the track of Saddam.

    • paynewalker June 15th, 2014 at 7:37 am

How’s that whole “the war is coming to an end” theory working out for ya?

      • OldLefty June 15th, 2014 at 7:43 am

How’s that whole “the war is coming to an end” theory working out for ya?

        ________

Actually, everything that has happened in Iraq is EXACTLY what the anti war crowd said would happen.

  27. RoyalPayne June 10th, 2014 at 4:04 pm

How is it that Bush was able to write an executive order 2 days after Obama took office? That what the 2nd line, in the ” ” section of this story, said. ” A White House Executive order issued on the 2nd day of Obamas’ presidency…….federal government has moved more than 500 such detainees from……..”. How is it that Bush is blamed when the Order was from Obamas White House?

    • Shaudius June 13th, 2014 at 11:03 pm

The order didn’t release the prisoner the order mentioned that 520 prisoners had been released already.
