Unless you consider being booed and heckled at a pair of events to be a good day, this was not good at all for the New Jersey governor.

In the morning, he traveled to Paterson to swear in Mayor Jose Torres. According to the Star-Ledger, while at the ceremony, Christie was booed by “about five dozen Paterson public school teachers” who were protesting their contracts and “jeered every time the governor’s name was mentioned.” The paper reported the teachers chanted “Christie’s gotta go!” and shouted “Liar!” as he left the stage following a brief appearance at the ceremony.

Christie also faced protests over his handling of contracts with teachers unions later in the day at a town hall in Caldwell. During the event, he was regularly interrupted by protesters. Though hecklers were promptly escorted out, new ones continued to emerge and shout at Christie throughout the event. Christie blamed “union heads” for the disturbances.

“They bring these folks in here to yell and scream and disturb these meetings. I gotta tell you the truth: After being governor for five years, having them yell and scream at me doesn’t bother me one damn bit,” he said at one point.

“I don’t mind them,” he insisted later.

Christie has had a fraught relationship with teachers unions after cutting funding for New Jersey’s school systems. He increased education funding slightly in his most recent budget, which he signed Monday.

However, a group of protesters apparently attempting to speak simultaneously — by reading lines from their phones — seemed to particularly irk the Republican governor, who accused them of getting “their lines fed to them.”

    Gov Christie has a sad.

    • Linda1961 July 1st, 2014 at 7:43 pm

Bwahaha! But he claims not to mind the protesters.

      • mea_mark July 1st, 2014 at 8:15 pm

Heck, he has been ignoring them for years. He just does what he wants. Constituents are just a pain in the rear-end to Christie.

        • mmaynard119 July 1st, 2014 at 8:18 pm

Mark – Christie’s main constituents live in Kansas.

      • Anomaly 100 July 1st, 2014 at 8:48 pm

Until he tells them to STFU.

    • mmaynard119 July 1st, 2014 at 7:57 pm

Why? Did the protesters eat the rest of the jelly-filled donuts? Seriously, the very bad day for Fat boy is coming up when he’s placed under indictment for securities fraud, bribery, receiving payoffs in exchange for contracts, and other stuff that will be his large behind in an orange jumpsuit for many years.

I don’t think I’ve heard him tell anybody to shut up lately. He really must be down in the dumps.

      • Anomaly 100 July 1st, 2014 at 8:47 pm

        Yeah, what’s up with that?

        • M D Reese July 2nd, 2014 at 4:38 pm

Perhaps he still thinks he’s got a shot at the Presidency…He must be trying that old Bush 41 “kindler/gentler” approach. He’ll blow up soon though, I’m sure of it.

          • Anomaly 100 July 2nd, 2014 at 4:41 pm

It’s only a matter of time. Yay!

  2. Obewon July 1st, 2014 at 7:58 pm

Hey hey. Ho ho. “Christie’s gotta go!” Shouting “Liar!” At the $5 B+ scam artist. The BridgeGhazi US Atty is now also investigating $1.8 billion Christie illegally ripped off for NJ roads from the Port Authority tunnel he cancelled! That’s plus $2.5 B+ in pension money pocketed by Big-Boy to balance his overfed tax cut budget.

    • mmaynard119 July 1st, 2014 at 8:00 pm

Oh, there’s a lot more than hat, too.

      • Obewon July 1st, 2014 at 8:02 pm

Christie’s a big fan of the mob. It won’t be long before La Cosa Nostra cuts their losses.

        • M D Reese July 1st, 2014 at 8:34 pm

The pope just excommunicated the Italian Mafia–I thought that was pretty bold. Maybe he’ll get around to ours as well.

          • Republicans_are_Evil July 1st, 2014 at 8:37 pm

Wouldn’t it be amusing if the pope excommunicated every Republican?

it be fitting given their shenanigans over the last few years.

You win the Interwebs today! I’m still trying to catch my breath and wipe the tears of laughter out of my eyes so that I can type!
I would LOVE it–and so far he hasn’t had anything nice to say about them and in fact has been critical of their plans to starve the poor out of existence. If you don’t mind, I’d like to pass that idea along whenever appropriate.

  3. Republicans_are_Evil July 1st, 2014 at 7:58 pm

He called members of a union, “union heads”, which is quite similar to calling a crack addict a “crack head”. Right wingers hate unions and drug users, so it doesn’t surprise me they equate the two.

Truth hurts. Yelling in people’s faces and calling them names and telling them to shut up will catch up to you.

Isn’t Governor Voluminous one of the GOP presidential hopefuls?

    • mmaynard119 July 1st, 2014 at 9:52 pm

Add at least 5 more to that list, possibly a 6th if LePage is investigated for his association with groups plotting the violent overthrow of the US Government.

    • Pilotshark July 2nd, 2014 at 9:38 am

      what a team
Christy, Walker, Scott, Snyder, Corbett, bench McCoy, Perry, Kasih, Pence
they have a deep bench and well the third string could contend for back spots.

  7. Sunka July 1st, 2014 at 9:14 pm

“I gotta tell you the truth” Starting when?
He claims they don’t bother him so why doesn’t he let them stay & actually have a conversation about their concerns?
He’s just another blatant example of an elected official who is so corrupt to the core that he refuses to tell the truth about anything his constituents care about. He’s a Big Man alright but I am not referring to his weight.

  8. AnthonyLook July 1st, 2014 at 9:18 pm

He is yesterdays news, all that is left is his destiny with inevitability. His existence has nothing to do with and never will have anything to do with most Americans. New Jersey has to deal with their rubble, their mess. They broke their state when they voted for this charlatan crooked Republican. They need to address it.

  9. Hirightnow July 1st, 2014 at 10:30 pm

Make no mistake; this is a distraction (heh) from the real candidate…
    Jeb.
Honestly, think it through: who amongst the RW horde HASN’T said something, or done something, insanely damaging to their party?
    (Jeb)
Who has kept his mouth shut, for the most part?
    (Jeb)
Who does Fox Newz ignore, even though he’s a pol with the chops to run, when they ask all the supposed hopefuls what they think about the latest “scandal”?
    (Jeb)
Compared to the rest of them, Jeb looks almost sane…
And the conspiracy-minded part of me thinks that this is a little too convenient…
Christie is old news…but he’s still useful as a “See? We have ‘good’ guys in our party…”

    • mea_mark July 2nd, 2014 at 8:04 am

Are they trying to make Jeb their knight in shining armor?

  10. majii July 2nd, 2014 at 1:14 am

Despite what he says, Christie is bothered by these teachers because he knows they care about kids getting a good education, most of them are women, and they vote. They could also make it hard for the next GOPTPer wanting to be governor of NJ to get the job. That he blames the teachers protesting against him on “union heads” shows how out of touch he is. I’m a retired teacher, and we don’t need anyone to tell us when an injustice has been committed against educators and students.
