Rick Perry On 1700 Civilian Casualties: ‘Individuals…Lose Their Lives In War’
The Texas governor and presidential hopeful’s unquestioning support for Israel in light of the heavy toll of civilian casualties was on full display on CNN.
Last week, Perry called on the United States to provide “vigorous support” for Israel so CNN’s Candy Crowley began her weekly Sunday show by inviting him to share his thoughts on the ongoing fighting in Gaza.
“When you look at 1,700-plus civilian deaths in Gaza — the large majority of which are civilians we are told — what is your thought about that, what is your reaction to that?” Crowley wondered.
“War is a horrible thing,” Perry responded without emotion. “There are individuals who lose their lives in war.”
“But when we have a fairly good understanding that Hamas is actually using their citizens as shields, at that particular point in time, it loses a lot of the the power, if you will, from my perspective,” the Texas Republican continued. “When you look back at Hamas’ statements that they will not be satisfied until Israel is wiped off the face of the Earth, then you start understanding the mentality a little bit better of a terrorist organization like Hamas.”

So says the man who at one time (oh so briefly) had a heart for kids in this country who made it here from the south of the border. Now he’s so heartless that he can just brush this off as a result of war without even offering solution. But he doesn’t have one, proof as he gets photo-ops of him holding a .50 cal. machine aimed south of the border. It seems wingers in Israel and in our southern states have one thing in common; they hate brown people that live south of them, suspected of looking like terrorists and possibly growing up to be like them.

Governor Rick (pictured below) recently sat down with Michelle Cottle of the National Review to chat about, among other things, the spectacles.
His explanation is that he has been diagnosed with pre-retinal fibrosis, a somewhat belated result of a childhood eye injury, and he was told by a “specialist” that this can be fixed with either surgery or glasses, and he chose to go with glasses.
Well, bullshit. You can’t fix pre-retinal fibrosis with corrective lenses, period. And as I’ve pointed out, in any given close-up of Poindexter Perry, it’s obvious that there isn’t any diopter to either of the lenses.

Of these two points he made, neither seems to be true.
(1) is apparently a myth, with no convincing evidence Hamas does that(although it’s proven fact that the IDF does).
(2) seems to be repeating the old mistranslation of Ahmedinejad’s speech. Nothing in Hamas’s charter like that and haven’t seen such a quote from any official. Is there any factual basis for his claim?
(3) Rick Perry also said “and” and “the”, and he was probably lying then too.

This is the sentence following the one you contributed from this extremely unusual document, which bears no attribution.
In other words, whoever wrote this is all over the map, and I have no idea if he’s speaking for hamas in an official capacity or not. You might as well attempt to deduce the foreign policy objectives of the United States of America from the writings of the unabomber.

The quote I pulled is right there in the first article in the Hamas Charter. That’s what that “extremely unusual document, which bears no attribution” is — the Hamas Covenant.

Yeah, got it, but again, it’s such a mess, and a document from 1988 which bears no authorship and upon which a Hamas leader in 2010 commented is “a piece of history and no longer relevant, but cannot be changed for internal reasons.”
Sorry, “internal reasons?” As with the above statement, and the oft-quoted desire of Ahmadinejad, I can’t help but feel that we’re losing something in translation here.

Let’s not get too fixed on Hamas which is not the biggest or even meanest group of blood-thirsty terrorists now terrorising much of the Middle East or plotting to attack America, again. Judge them all by their deeds, not their words.

This is what I mean when I say that Republican foreign policy is steeped in racism. He wouldn’t dismiss these civilian deaths so lightly if they were white English-speaking people, rather than Palestinian Arabs.

There’s a lot of stuff I do not like about Perry.
But this isn’t one of them. Israel is surrounded by bad guys, Hamas is actually only a bit player in the terrorists’ forces ransacking much of the Middle East today. Hamas, Hezbollah, alQada, and this new “Islamic State” are all being run and financed out of Iran, Qatar, along with other ME wealthy interests all wanting to destroy Israel, and they don’t like us (Americans) very much either. Except when they can fool gullible people into donating to their phony “humanitarian” mission.
