Anonymous Hacks City Of Ferguson Website, City Emails Not Working

[su_right_ad]As part of Operation Ferguson, a response by the collective Anonymous to the police shooting of an unarmed black teenager, the loosely knit group took down the city of Ferguson’s website on Sunday night. Mike Brown was gunned down by a police officer in the Missouri town, and eyewitness accounts seem to contradict the story given by the police department.

Anonymous vowed retribution if any police abuse is directed toward the protesters in Ferguson.

Officials say none of the city’s e-mails were working on Monday morning. After anticipating a problem, the mayor of Ferguson had the IT Department take down all personal information from the site on Saturday, according to KMOV On Sunday, Anonymous stated in part:

If you attack the protesters, we will attack every server and computer you have. We will dox and release the personal information on every single member of the Ferguson Police Department, as well as any other jurisdiction that participates in the abuse. We will seize all your databases and E-Mail spools and dump them on the Internet. This is your only warning.

Since then, images of police releasing tear gas have circulated online. There have been reports of police firing rubber bullets and ordering residents and members of the media to leave public areas. Just one question: When the Bundy ranch militia members aimed rifles at authorities, were any of them shot by the police? Michael Brown was unarmed, with his hands in the air.

    Why are they involved? The po-lice in Ferguson, all 97% WHITE, are doing an awesome job looking like a bunch of uncontrollable thugs. They block off the streets and yell at the protestors to “go home”. The streets they’ve blocked are the only way to get to their homes.
    Nothing says “white cop drama” more than a billy club, a taser and the ability to shoot someone 8 times (several in the back) and go on PAID leave.
    But Anonymous isn’t going to fix anything!

      I agree, they will not have a deep affect on the locals but they will get the attention of the powerful in the community. It keeps attention on an area that needs to be focused on and the story needs to remain until they realize change needs to be done.

      It’s too soon to tell if there will be any real impact, as of yet. But these backwards and hateful practices must come to a stop. Ferguson is so remote. This brings it global attention, not just national.

    What do rwnj’s do when a young black man is gunned down? Get their fat faces in front of camera’s declaring he was a “thug” and claim American’s can now live safely again because there are always “good guys” with “big” guns. What do lwnj’s (I say that with love) do when a young black man is gunned down? They shut down your technical infrastructure and use technology to screw you monetarily, I know what side I am proud of.

      You can make the font bigger on your own computer. If you are using a PC, hold down the ‘ctrl’ key and move the scroll button on your mouse. I don’t remember how to do it on a Mac.

      It could be helpful if it starts a real investigation by outside authorities. The sooner it starts the better, the police department shouldn’t have time to cover-up or plant evidence. The Ferguson police department are the ones acting like criminals, time to shut them down and investigate them all.

        The incident happened in broad daylight in front of witnesses. The most damning evidence exists independently of any file, paper or electronic, that a disruption like this would affect. Creating chaos in the rest of the city government (public works, social services, transportation, infrastructure) does nothing to getting towards justice. It’s the techie equivalent of looting.

          Outside authorities need to move in quickly. Any good investigator will tell you, the sooner you start the better. That is what it happening here. A demand to start an outside investigation because things look so obviously wrong and corrupt.

            The FBI needs to investigate the entire department and shut it down before they can hide evidence or manipulate things. The police department is still active, crimes may still be being committed.

          Happened in front of witnesses that the PD didn’t bother to interview – even after they called the PD multiple times. They have now, as of tonight -after multiple national interviews with the witnesses and after the FBI came in – called to set up an interview with the witnesses,
