Scott_Lively_5[su_right_ad]Last year, a  prominent homophobic activist had the hammer of justice dropped on him, big time:

For the first time, a federal US judge has ruled a persecution of LGBT people is a crime against humanity.

This sets a precedent ensuring the fundamental human rights of LGBTI people are protected under international law.

It comes as a Ugandan LGBTI advocacy organization filed a lawsuit against prominent US anti-gay extremist Scott Lively.

Accused of helping to play a part in the persecution, arrest and murder of gay people in Uganda, Lively’s lawyers requested to dismiss the lawsuit.

Michael Ponsor, the US District Judge in Springfield, Massachusetts, said: ‘Widespread, systematic persecution of LGBTI people constitutes a crime against humanity that unquestionably violates international norms.’

‘The history and current existence of discrimination against LGBTI people is precisely what qualifies them as a distinct targeted group eligible for protection under international law.

‘The fact that a group continues to be vulnerable to widespread, systematic persecution in some parts of the world simply cannot shield one who commits a crime against humanity from liability.’

[su_r_sky_ad]That should really help his run for office:

Scott D. Lively, a Christian pastor best known for his anti-gay activity, has submitted the necessary signatures and paperwork to qualify as an independent candidate for governor. He will appear on the November ballot, according to Brian S. McNiff, a spokesman for the Massachusetts secretary of state.

Independent candidate Evan Falchuk, a businessman, qualified earlier this summer. Venture capital investor Jeff McCormick, the third non-party gubernatorial candidate in the race, today submitted more than the 10,000 certified signatures needed to qualify and will be on the ballot once he submits another piece of paperwork, McNiff said.

That means voters are likely to have five choices in November when they choose who will succeed Governor Deval Patrick: a Democrat, a Republican and the three non-party candidates.

The state primary is Sept. 9.

Being anti-gay is one of the most moronic stances you can take. Why are you so obsessed with what other people do in their bedrooms?

    • R.J. Carter August 21st, 2014 at 9:35 am

Solely for the purpose of Devil’s Advocacy, why does what one does in the bedroom merit a parade to celebrate it? (Not that I haven’t wanted to on particularly good nights… back in the 90s.)

        I love a parade.

Pride parades aren’t about celebrating what they do in their bedrooms. It’s about celebrating identity, after centuries of persecution. It’s about conquering fear and ignorance. It’s about solidarity and defending their rights.

Conservatives don’t understand that, because they see nothing wrong with persecuting people for what they see as “sinful” and “abnormal” behavior. Fear and ignorance is what conservatives consider to be a normal frame of mind.

Then quit telling us it’s about “what goes on in the privacy of the bedroom.”

          • jasperjava August 21st, 2014 at 11:41 am

It seems like it’s conservatives who are obsessed with what’s going on in the privacy of the bedroom.

          • R.J. Carter August 21st, 2014 at 11:47 am

            Only what happens in mine.
And in my son’s when he’s of age and I hear other voices that shouldn’t be in there.

Speaking from experience, good luck with that.

I don’t hear anybody flaunting their bedroom activities. Methinks you know so much about “what goes on in the privacy of the bedroom” because you’re out there looking in windows.

You’ve wanted to march in gay pride parades? Do you and Mrs. RJ need to have a talk? 😉

        • R.J. Carter August 21st, 2014 at 11:31 am

She was going to be the float queen. I was going to be the grand marshal. It was going to be a parade of two. 🙂

          • tiredoftea August 21st, 2014 at 2:17 pm

            Root beer floats, I presume?

          • MIAtheistGal August 21st, 2014 at 2:43 pm

Just so long as you don’t make her drive the convertible while you wave at the crowd. 🙂

      • tiredoftea August 21st, 2014 at 12:42 pm

As a political statement in support of the notion of equality for all and to put a thumb in the eye of those who actively work against them.

        • R.J. Carter August 21st, 2014 at 1:11 pm

A time-honored tradition that always serves to gain acceptance from those who have been eye-thumbed.

          • tiredoftea August 21st, 2014 at 2:10 pm

            True. It’s effective though!

      • Rusty Shackleford August 21st, 2014 at 3:53 pm

Because straight people didn’t pay attention when we were quiet, so we’re not gonna be. They were happy to sweep us and our deaths under the rug, but let’s see them just try to ignore THIS.

        • R.J. Carter August 21st, 2014 at 4:19 pm

And now we all die from it, as the disease is no longer GRIDS.

Hetero-pride parades would be homophobic expressions of hate?

          • Rusty Shackleford August 21st, 2014 at 4:22 pm

We do not “all die from it.” 40% of homeless youth are LGBT. No one kills themselves for being cis or heterosexual. No one gets MURDERED for being cis or heterosexual.

So, he’s counting on the white militia vote? Registering militia camps should make for an interesting exercise in democracy.

  3. Suzanne McFly August 21st, 2014 at 12:55 pm

I bet $20 he has a preteen male sex slave chained up in his basement.

    • tiredoftea August 21st, 2014 at 2:16 pm

OK, you go down there first!

      • Suzanne McFly August 21st, 2014 at 3:58 pm

Im not scared of the old “man”, I went to Catholic school and dealt with nuns who couldn’t have sex, they can be mean as hell this little numb nut does not scare me.

        • tiredoftea August 21st, 2014 at 5:14 pm

That’s why the nuns beat us! It was the priests I had to be careful of.

          • Suzanne McFly August 21st, 2014 at 6:09 pm

Exactly!!!! Priests are the ones who we have caught being pervs, the nuns would be fine if the were allowed to buy batteries lol

          • tiredoftea August 21st, 2014 at 8:56 pm

Or, more access to the sacramental wine.
